Call for Paper Tag Info: deciphering the last group of numbers

As to batch number of leather, isn't that on inside tags? I don't think that matches up.

I once decided to try to decipher all this, and was gonna use these cards, info from price tags, etc. Have you looked at the numbers on a BNY price tag?? After about 3 minutes, I needed an exorcist! This makes a much better group project.

Here are two 2007 medium matelasse bags of different colors. Their numbers are identical except for the very last group. We need bags of the same colors as these to see how they compare.

Wh. Mat. 2007 1 168031 D94BN 1041

VG Mat. 2007 1 168031 D94BN 1033

Here's an '07 natural GH hobo:

2007 1 177288 D941G 106

Ok, so the DxxxT numbers are definitely Hardware codes.

And it would seem the last group of numbers is dependant on

a combo of color and style and year and season

for example, we have 3 black cities, all from different years and seasons and none of the last numbes map:

Black City 2005 3 115748 D941T 364
Black City 2006 3 115748 D941T 103
Black City 2005 1 115748 D941T 250

but we have two anthracities and two grenat works from the same year and season with the same last numbers:

Anthracite City 2007 1 115748 D941T 6
Anthracite City 2007 1 115748 D941T 6
Grenat Work 2006 3 132110 D941T 206
Grenat Work 2006 3 132110 D941T 206

I'll need a few more samples to see if hardware is also a factor in the last group on numbers.

Lay 'em on gals!!!

The DxxxT numbers decoded:

D941T = Regular Hardware
D941G = Giant Hardware
D940T = Clutches/accessories
D94BN = Matelesse Hardware

If someone wants to Photoshop the pic of the tag above to include references to all the numbers that would be great!!

We need more examples to see what distinguishes the black cities (where the final set of numbers are all different) from the anthracities and grenats, where they are. Right?

Do you guys want more?

Yes, I think that if we find gals with these year/season RG black cities, then the last digits will match these:

Black City 2005 3 115748 D941T 364
Black City 2006 3 115748 D941T 103
Black City 2005 1 115748 D941T 250

^^^And maybe you're right...the last number(s) are assigned randomly but reflect color/year/season/style as a final attempt to ID real bags vs. fakes.

If that were the case, you'd think they'd STAMP IT ON THE TAG (hint, hint, Bal) rather than put it on the card, which can be lost.

But I think we're very close to solving this mystery. We just need more card examples to prove the theory!

If enough PFers don't contribute, we can look at the cards on eBay auctions with authentic bags and take numbers from there.

Can't seem to find my cards for the black city. :push: But here's more examples:

Calcaire City - 2005 3 115748 D941T 107
Ink City - 2006 1 115748 D941T 502
Grenat City - 2006 3 115748 D941T 293
Ink Shrug - 2006 1 147185 D941T 636
Ink Coin Purse - 2006 1 130783 D940T 837
Sandstone City - 2007 1 115748 D941T 1311

As some of you may already know, I've bought a city with unknown colour and the numbers are 2007 1 115748 D941T 1310. So most probably it is a sandstone by some of your judgements.

However, I've looked into ebay, posts of members and some Japanese sites, most of the sandstone bags end with 2811!

ooo, I noticed another match!!!

Black Work 2005 3 132110 D941T 364
Black City 2005 3 115748 D941T 364
:blink:

and a notable not match:

Sandstone City 2007 1 115748 D941T 1310
Sandstone City 2007 1 115748 D941T 1311

:shocked:

^Trying to decipher these numbers are going to make us insane!
