Hobby! Expensive hobby!! I love my handbags the same as any man (or woman) loves the things that they collect, be it cars, coins, cameras, artwork, etc. I truly consider myself to be a handbag collector and try very hard to buy a wide variety of designers, styles and colors so that I have a diverse collection. I can obsess over the tiniest detail on a bag, like a buckle or the stitching. Those details are what will draw me to a designer. I may discover a bag I didn't know about because it's the new "it" bag, but if I buy it, it's because I love it, not because everyone else loves it.
I hope to someday have at least one bag from every designer who's bags I like. I just recently bought my first Dior and my first Hermes and was so excited to add those to my collection. I display all of my bags behind glass doors, just as many collectors do and it's such a joy to see them everytime I enter my closet.
That said, I guess that there is a little bit of a superficial quality to my collecting since I only collect high-end designer bags. For me, it's not about what other people think of my bags since many of them would only be recognizable to the small percentage of people I come in contact with who are also handbag obsessed. I guess I'm a bit of a bag snob and just feel like the high-end ones are more special and collection worthy.![]()

I actually like it when people don't recognize my bag. I don't "collect" bags either; I just buy what I like and I use them. Browsing for bags has become my hobby though because it's generally what I do when I have free time.

I don't carry them for people to notice, however when someone does actually appreciate one of my bags, it's bonding. It's a chance to make a new friend. I am thankful for my blessings and the ability to be able to invest in high quality things from time to time. I don't mind someone else partaking in a little piece of my joyIf we didn't want people to notice, and we wanted to enjoy it personally, why would we join a public forum to speak about our luxuries?

I don't mind when someone compliments my bags, it tells me they appreciate my taste. However I don't necessarily like when people ask where I got my bag or how much I spent etc, that makes me uncomfortable, especially if it is someone I do not know. As for a hobby or not, I wouldn't consider it a hobby for me. I rotate through all of my bags and carry them regularly. I view a hobby as more of collecting certain types, styles, colors and not carrying them. I think if I started having too many bags too carry or not wanting to carry a bag to keep it in a certain condition, then it'd borderline on a hobby.
