Oh gawd, I have been thinking about that today.... Sell OR keep (and try to get it cleaned again)??? Depressing thought having to sell a beloved speedy.:(

I may actually talk to the team if hardware replacement can be done this instance.

I would be depressed, too! If you really love the bag, hardware replacement may be the only way. Not too sure if there is a fee that you have to bear. For me, once I cannot handle the bag for whatever reasons, I will just SADLY part with bag and reminisce the good times I had with the bag. All the best, dear.

You’re probably right about fees especially if they won’t accept defect in the first instance.
Lol, reminds me of my Neverfull. It wasn’t a defect really. But while I found the bag very sturdy, resilient and easy, the straps were digging onto my shoulders. Came to a point I had neck pain from it.
So while I love it, I had to sell it as it didn’t work anymore.

I just received my new Speedy b 25 in DE from Louis Vuitton. It's absolutely adorable and I was so excited today for the UPS man to arrive. The Speedy came without plastic covers on any of the zippers and it smells BAD! Sort of plastic like? It's hard to define. I sent my SA a text but he's off today so I'll just wait to hear from him. I've purchased direct from the boutiques and have had bags mailed and they have never had an odor.

Is it quite usual, especially if the bag is fresh and has been made only recently. It practically is just a huge piece of PVC with a dash of heavily coated leather. Let is air for a few days. If it is still weird after that, something might be wrong though.

Thanks, Bull. I just got off the phone with customer service and she said the same thing. I have other DE pieces and they've never smelled like this. Maybe it's just the Speedy? I'm airing it out as we speak. If it doesn't go away in a few days, I'll return it.:sad: I am not the type of bag owner who counts stitches or uses a microscope to look for flaws. But the smell is so strong it makes the bag unusable.

Congrats on your new bag. The DE speedy is treated so it will have a smell especially since some LV bags are so popular they are basically infants and don't get to air out in the boutique so to speak. That smell should go away. I think the OP's issue is different especially if she has had the bag for a little while and the smell goes away and then comes back. I've never heard of that. My speedy DE had the same smell you are talking about and I simply just let it sit out in my room for a few days and it went away. Hope that helps.

Thank you Edna. I looked at the date code and it was made in November, so it's fairly new.

It seems really weird that the hardware makes that strong of a smell on the Speedy since there is not much hardware on there? I don’t get what smells? The lock, the zipper?
