I do not know why my SA told me that the more recent Speedy B's now have a different hardware.
I am not sure because I do not have any to compare, but I have a deep regret in my heart that I did not get a Speedy wayyyy back then. Sigh....

I am pretty convinced it's hardware issue. I have escalated it as this store is just too unhelpful. They even told me they don't replace hardware - like duh, they do replace hardware all the time!

I will know soon enough anyway.

Even if they had a recent change, I doubt that they would know the long term effects already. And changes in the manufacturing process are rarely shared with SAs. I assume she also heard that long ago it was solid brass.

Technically they were right, but lazy. The cannot change only the hardware, they have to change the entire handle with the tabs.

They changed the handles between 2015 and 2017 I guess. My old speedy had shiny handles and my new one from 2020 has matt handles

I have aired my speedy 25 now - as I can't bear for it to smell worse! If it turns out to be hardware issue, it's considered defect, no?

The OP mentioned that the bag was sent for professional cleaning, and it still smells.
Maybe it is a defect, I really don't know. As for me, my experience with LV has been quite positive so far, with only one issue with my Pochette Metis I got last year as the canvas smells like glue, and it didn't fade away after one month. In the end, my SA changed a new one for me.

My PM had cracking In Reverse and my empreinte one also cracked at the glazing. My reverse one lv exchanged me and my empreinte one, they told me it’s „wear and tear“.
Mare the handles smelling bad ?

It wasn't the handles or the hardware of my pochette metis. Just my canvas, where the stitches are.
However, I am thankful that it has been resolved. As for the OP, I just hope a good solution comes forward.
