I went through a simmilar dilema when we were thinking of naming our dog.
My SO is a race car driver so it was a given that he would suggest some car related name. Originally he wanted to name her Quattro (because dogs are "all wheel drive"
) Anyways, we agreed to name her Porsche after the car he was racing that year.
The good thing is that non-car people think her name is "Portia" which they think is cute, and car people think it's awesome we named our dog after the race car.
In the end she responds to many other silly nicknames, like "poochie", "puppy" and baby girl.
