My friend who works in retail says that if we know how much mark-up is in these items we would NEVER buy anything. I think we need to be more careful/choosy and look for fair prices/sales/etc. Otherwise we are just putting money into the hands of the businesses and not getting anything much back!

it's quite true - i sell appliances and our markup on regular priced items is usually about 25% over what we pay for the product, and that's considered ridiculously LOW in retail. i know of stuff out there that has a 98% markup - ethernet cords, cell phone chargers, etc. i can only imagine what it is for bags

Coach is trying to better themselves.. but I think they're losing their customer service in doing so...

Coach is now selling like 800 dollar bags... I remember when their bags ranged from 200-300 at MOST.

I haven't bought anything at the Coach store itself, just the outlets. I can't justify the price as I will see it a month later for at least half the price of what it is currently.

I agree! I always run to the Coach Outlet by me maybe once a month or so. I can't stand the prices at the stores. The last two bags I've purchased have been from the Outlets and the last... whatever... that has been purchased at "regular" stores wasn't bought by me anyway. I do find the SAs at the Outlet to be a lot less "pushy" but also a lot more helpful (while keeping the prices low - hehe) than the ones at stores in the malls. For me, a 25% off coupon doesn't mean a whole lot. I buy bags every month or so, here and there, when I find something interesting that I like. It's not like I walk in and drop a load of cash to the point where I'd need one. However, I hear all of y'all disappointment with not getting one when you do spend a lot of money on their products. I do think that is really low and if it is the case, I'd approach a manager.

Wanna know something ridiculous? I bought one Coach wristlet (cheapest thing I liked) then returned it a few days later b/c I didn't think it was worth it. My friend has bought 8 bags from Coach. Guess who got 2 calls from the Coach SA telling me that my special sale invite was coming in the mail and to expect it, and another call to confirm? My friend is miffed! I think it's hilarious!

See what I mean! That just makes me miffed, too! Way to treat your loyal customers, Coach.

My sister and I bought tons and tons of Coach all the time back in 1997 and we got personal letters and invites all the time. But as the years went on I wasn't into Coach from 1998-2000 and didn't buy anything but paper for my agenda, an agenda that I have had since 1997 and still have to this day.

I noticed that when I wasn't buying anything all of the sudden all of he invitations stopped as well as the catalogs. I didn't care though because I was into other designers.

But I just recently purchased a Coach bag about a week ago and noticed that it was infact made in China. I didn't even know they were manufacturing in China until I read it on here!

I agree that they need to start treating their loyal customers better because they better remember why they are in business. It is after all, all about the customer...I hope there are people that work for Coach who are reading this thread!

I'm a little more than miffed. I have shopped at the same Coach store for years, and have a good size collection. I am doing this more on priniciple....

I'm pretty sure I won't be spending any more money on their products. :push:

I am with you Bjara.... I will be happy to boycott with you on PRINCIPLE and their lack of DECENCY and respect for their customers!

The sad thing, is bad word of mouth is just as bad for them and they don't care.....

I am a new LV girl anyways! And lovin it! :)

I still shop at Coach alot and love all of my bags...LOL I also am good friends with a SA and if there is something I want, I just give her $ and she gets it for me with her 50% discount. Can't beat that!:)

Well, you can just be like me and complain to them on a weekly basis and drive them craze for a while. I know it is insane, but if I feel a company has done me wrong I go after them! Send letters, emails, find out the name of the president of the company and write them. There is nothing like a good old fashioned letter to the CEO to get action, this works with airlines, Dell computer, and several other people I have dealt with.

ya coach has some nice stuff.... but since they jacked up their price and now EVERYONE is into it.. i dont think its quite worth it as much anymore. I feel like if i buy coach i want to pay "coach" price... and it isnt like that anymore=(
