The BBK32 from 1973 is very smooth although it shows a little bit of a lovely grain. It looks shiny and smooth like a mirror, it feels slippery almost like glas and it shows fingerprints (surprisingly). Hermes did an excellent job restoring the BBK. The superficial scratches are all polished away completely. And blackening the edges makes a huge difference. The Hermes-Paris engraving on the plates is on top of each other. I like that.

The vert fonce box K28 from 2000 is not as shiny and shows almost no grain, the leather seems a little thicker, stronger and softer. I like the handle on my 28. It is flat on the bottom and strong and rounded on top. It does not bend easily. The handle on the BBK 32 is more bendable, my fingers feel the sides more than the flat bottom and rounded top.

Actually, I think the 28 looks cuter and in slightly better proportion than the 32.

My bags and 2 cents for the data base...... I have had a lot of fun with you all and I have learned so much! Thank you.

Thank you periogirl, the screen has nothing to do with it :p....I think you are experiencing the magic of patinated box vert fonce. You can use it like a neutral black but it feels, looks and behaves like a color. It is quite lovely and fun. Plus the gold gives a delicious glow and contrast. This bag is from ca. 2000. I have a BBK from the 1970s who is taking her sweet time at the spa. Once she is back I will tell you if I see and feel a difference in the box leather. If you are interested.
I know better than to visit this thread:roflmfao: I adore Vert Foncé. You did such a great job on her;)
Hello. I've been following this thread with a lot of interest. Beautiful box photos and great advice!

Here's my raisin box Kelly from 2002. I used Saphir Renovateur to clean and condition and water proofed with Collonil Nanopro for now. Also waiting for some Luxury again products to pamper her with.

Seriously, I'm losing my mind!!! The two box leather Kelly's I want most are your combo and the Vert Fonce I just looked at:loveeyes::faint:
This is stunning, Ketaki! Your bag is my holy grail Kelly! Raisin box is just divine and so hard to find with PHW.
I love this period of the Raisin color when the stitching was Acajou instead of Raisin, too.
I totally agree QF!!!! So Gorgeous....where are ours?:search:
Ahh Quelle you just solved a mystery for me. So that's what the stitching colour is called. I was wondering because that's the one on my Piano.

OMG! This is beyond stunning Jadeite! You are a lucky lady:graucho:
I have just acquired this black box calf Kelly Sac a Depeches and I now fully understand why posters on this thread rave about veau box.
Congratulations! What a fun bag, enjoy!
