I have the BV knot clutch and while I love that clutch and carry it often for night outs and dinners, I find myself not liking any other bags or styles from bv.. As someone mentioned, the straps dont look very sturdy and slip off easily.. Basket weave is also not that easy to maintain. My knot is very delicate and I handle it with a lot of care.. Cant imagine carrying a bigger version of that and actually surviving.

I have been looking at BV from afar for a long time. I am not really interested in selling on so resale value is not important to me. I really like the weave pattern and some of the styles I am not adverse to. So what has stopped me in the past from purchasing is most likely the price. I am not happy to pay over 2 thousand pounds for these bags. Would rather spend less on bags that have slightly more personality. I will continue to admire from afar though:)

I like BV, almost bought one on their private sale event but then I went back to cancel the sale. I believe that BV bags are made with great craftsmanship (the weaving and everything) but I love to see my leather bag made in from several perfect/very high quality leather. I live to inspect and look at my bag just to admire the leather and smell them [emoji23][emoji23]
BV in the other hand most if them are weaved from many strands of leather. I bet they pick a high quality leather but when they cut them into strands it's just very hard to admire it. So far I only own a wallet (Bday gift) that I use daily and a snake skin bracelet. I have to exchange my wallet coz I saw a broken stitching inside the wallet. The SA told me that I have a very good eye. [emoji4][emoji4]
If I want to get BV, most likely I will be getting it from resellers.
But they have a men's Aubergine jacket that I really wanted but they never went on sale and suddenly it disappear. Been looking and still looking. So if you guys seen it and it's on sale let me know [emoji106][emoji106]

So...This is just my opinion on BV bags, I don't mean to upset any BV fan.

The number one reason BV is not more well known is because they don't gift bags to celebs unlike other design houses (when all of a sudden everyone who's anyone is carrying the same bag that hasn't been released yet!). Those famous people who carry BV carry it because they purchased it.

And the thing with BV is it gets better with age. It gets softer, glossier, slouchier, and molds to the body with use, but a person has to use it to see its best qualities (and for all its softness, it is tough as nails). Therein lies the problem: those who can't / don't want to spend $2000+ on a gamble just won't gamble.

My issue with BV bags is their sizing: they're either too big or too small for me. Their crossbody bags used to not come with adjustable straps and would fall to my knees - thank god they fixed that with the Gardena, which I love and is now my daily bag.

Maybe it isn't helping me the fact that mine is bright green
There is one on eBay at present so someone else must feel as I do!

I occasionally like looking at other people carrying BV, but it's definitely not for me. Firstly, I'd be too concerned about the weave easily trapping dirt and crumbs, and the texture would make it hard to clean. Secondly, the weave all over the bags just make everything look too busy, whereas my style is a more classic and streamlined design. The only thing I would want from BV is a knot clutch, and even then I'd prefer to put the money towards somewhere else.

Same here.

I had an opportunity to buy a classic brown flat men's messenger from them at a great discount from Holts Bloor St. last year, but after thinking about it for a while (and I wanted to own something from BV), I decided not to buy it. Their bags and accessories don't match my style. They look a bit mature to me, especially their men's products. Their styles don't have the edge that I often want in an accessory. At first I thought it was because the all-woven leather looks mature, but even the designs that only feature a tiny bit of the woven leather on the side or as small details look mature.

I really love their dark hardware, and the quality looks great, but the styles don't appeal to me.

I do like BV and I love a weave. I have a Miu Mui weave hobo and always wear it with a maxi dress through the summer as it compliments the look.

It does appear a lesser known brand but a higher retail price and I think for most they want a well recognised brand for the price tag.

I thought BV was a higher end of Gucci, pf'ers please correct me if Im wrong,

Wouldn't say higher end but rather more exclusive, since they have less stores and in general the price of entry for products is a bit higher. But Gucci has lovely higher end bags that easily compete on even ground. The comparison is also usually made, since they are both from the same conglomerate (Kering).

Gucci has its own high-end ;)

But you're right they have connections. Bottega's Marco Bizzarri has very recently moved to be CEO of Gucci.

BV was founded in 1966 and bought by what is sometimes called 'Gucci Group' in 2001. Gucci Group was officially called PPR which has recently changed it's name to Kering.

Kering is to Gucci, Bottega, SLP, Balenciaga etc what LVMH is to LV, Dior, Celine etc.

Yes sorry folks, that was really badly worded, perhaps should have said same group.

I didnt know LVMH had so many brands within them. When I go bag shopping I just pick what I like without doing too much research and stick largely to what I know.

Im quite new and have learnt loads from you guys :ty:

I think they're beautiful but most of them are hobo style. I don't like a hobo with no compartments where everything is swimming around and you can't find your stuff.
I do have a vintage satchel; I rarely carry it mostly because it's a bit small for me.

This. There's an older discontinued model (Montaigne) that I wish they bring back. I don't like the new model.

hi apey_grapey- hope all is well.

which gardena are you using? did it come in two sizes?

My reason: price. The bags are beautiful, under the radar and no logos, which I love - but to buy a bag that's difficult to move on if I get tired AND that costs a huge heap of money, just doesn't fit in my head.

Many others may have a style point in mind. BV is not sharp, crisp and fashionable.
