Birthday HAUL at the Dooney and Bourke outlet in Aurora, Illinois…

But did you see her small navy, she called it mini but it was a small. It was sooooooo beautiful, I knew I wanted it for my birthday bag. I wanted to try the micro, first one I picked up and tried. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max. my phone took up the entire bottom of the bag laid flat. That was a no for me. Trying to get to my phone, while the bag was full of my junk, damn near impossible without emptying the bag. The opening was tiny and a hard no.

I saw the nano on the clearance table and took it for a spin around the store. It was so stinking cute, but not functional for me. I believe it was $159 on clearance. Even at that price, I wasn’t gonna get it if it didn’t work for me. The chestnut domed crossbody , I did get, was bigger, about the size of the micro, but the opening made all the difference. No flap to deal with, it fit my phone better, and I could see everything in my bag. It’s also not as heavy, because it doesn’t have all the hardware and handles. It’s perfect for a walking excursion or running quick errands. It was also cheaper than the nano that was on clearance…

I tried the mini. Again the opening was too small and it wouldn’t fit my iPad, which I take everywhere. I didn’t bother with the small as I have the one and it’s barely functional for me.

I own the largest 15 in long in chestnut AND steel blue and I love it. I have a small, 13 in long, in brown tmoro, and it’s tight getting to my junk and maneuvering my iPad 11 pro in and out. My birthday bag is the large 14 in navy. they changed the length of the largest size, and it’s great. It’s a little smaller than the older medium, the called the largest size back then, but it fits everything and I LOVE IT!
Thanks for the measurement info on the larger satchel. I didn't realize the newer one
was an inch shorter than the original 15" medium. I know that everyone measures
differently and even on the web site you can't be sure the measurements are exact.
But since you have the bags in front of you, then the measurements should be
comparable. That's really helpful.

The large/medium whatever they call or called it, is too heavy for me.
I love the look and the function though.
I have one as an 'object d'art', in raspberry.
I just can't part with it because of the color.
I'm glad you found the right size for your needs.

Enjoy your rest on ban island. Recharge your bank account and stay away from
any place that sells handbags (online).

When I got it home I was comparing it with my chestnut because I could tell something was different, but couldn’t pinpoint what it was. I broke out the measuring tape and it was 14 in not 15. It’s not as heavy as the 15 in either. It holds the same as the older larger chestnut and it doesn’t feel as large. As you know that 15 inch is like mini luggage, and it can hold an actual 13 in laptop.
I don’t fill it all the way and I love the opening as opposed to the small. Did I ever tell you the small is heavier than the large with the same items inside… I believe the crimson satchel with pockets is about the same size as the small flo satchel. I’ll compare them later today with the measuring tape… the last 3 bags I got on the 4 pay plan. Like easy pay.

the Tilton is paid for, but it’s still processing. Shouldn’t take this long if they’re in stock like it says on the website… the Logan in my cart is only $120 and I still have birthday money for that and will include it in my birthday haul….

LJ please please tell me I do not need that Clayton… tell me how much you hate it and it weighs a ton and it’s ugly and impractical and that brown tmoro is a horrible looking bag… LOL hope it’s included in the holiday sales… that raspberry color is absolutely gorgeous. If you ever think of parting with it, think of me please and thank ya

Even on the website it's now the large Florentine satchel listed 9.5h x 6.5w x 14. The one you have is an older one like my chestnut. they were 15. When you go to the outlet u can feel/see the difference. I knew something was different about the large in the store. I got it home and measured and compared.
I like I can get still an older one at 15in if I wanted the biggest size

Thanks for the info! For those of us that buy secondhand, it’s kinda frustrating we can’t look up the serial numbers, to find out the bag information (imo).

One thing I will say, this bag is hefty, LOL.

I got my large chestnut and steel blue off eBay. They list the sizes and some even have the tags and registration cards. Both of mine were nwt off eBay way less than the price on site. It’s like I got 2 and a wallet for the price of one Satchel on site. They were shipped with care and arrived quickly. I got to see the actual bag I was buying and could ask questions about the bag. Yes it is Hefty. But soooooo beautiful.

I noticed that on the ILD site they charge shipping, well after $119 it’s free shipping. On their eBay page, everything is all free shipping.
That's true. We need to remember to check both sites before buying.
Often the prices are different. Sometimes ILD is better, sometimes the
ILD/Ebag is better. Bags come from the same warehouse.

I'm not sure about the return process from ILD/Ebay.
So check that out before buying. I think you have the
30 day return window (starting from ship date? order date?),
but I don't know if you can print a label (for which you pay anyway)
or have to create your own return label. Shipping costs have increased.
In the past the ILD return label was a very good price for return shipping
compared to paying for it with your own label at a UPS store. In both cases
you paid for the return, it was just a question of what the cost was.

Re: the Clayton. I think it's a stunning handbag. It's very heavy and I think it looks
best hand held. The style is very corporate looking to me... very business like.
I have several sitting in my closet, rarely carried anymore. And, the front pocket
flaps will curl over time if you use the pockets a lot.

There was a companion style, more of a hobo design, called the Kingston.
Check that one out.
It had the shoulder strap, no handles, and a very similar design. It's lighter
and probably holds a similar amount. The Kingston does have a curved
zipper top (not fold over) so getting large objects like tablets in and out
might require some maneuvering, depending upon the size. I've never tried it.

As to whether you should buy the Clayton....well.... you like large handbags,
and the weight doesn't seem to be an issue for you, and it is stunning.
I'd say if the price and condition are right....and the color is beautiful,
treasures are hard to pass up.

From all this discussion of handbag measurements and weight, I'm reminded that
it's important to check the details of each bag and not assume I know it's size
from just the name. Over time it seems some of the details of the design can change
(2 part strap vs. 3 part strap on newer bags, for ex.), but also the meaurements
can change. And with Florentine leather, the weight of each bag is influenced by
the particular piece of leather. And the color can vary from batch to batch becuase the
dyes are natural.

you were supposed to be discouraging me from the Clayton LOL
that brown Tmoro is absolutely stunning.... *inserts mantra repeat mantra again and again*

I wanted to buy a coin purse and discovered Ebay ILD was the way to go with anything under $119. That is if you don't want to load up your cart with a Tmoro Clayton to make free shipping ;)

I love the opening ease of the largest satchel but worry it would look like luggage on me. That new extra inch difference may be worth my investigating...
