Beware: Best faked bags in the market

Where do people even get these replica bags?! I bought a few when visiting vintage shops and now I’m worried I should authenticate them. Any recommendations on authentication spots?

People who intentionally purchase these "super fakes” often do so through social media platforms or seedy websites. People who unintentionally purchase these replicas often find them on popular resale sites or at resale stores. In the authentication business, years/amount of experience and accuracy are almost always positively correlated. Unfortunately, many authenticators working for these resale companies only have a couple months/years of experience under their belts.

Depending on the brands of the bags you have, you may be able to post them here (on their appropriate threads) and see if someone in the community could help you. As far as Hermès, do not post authentication requests here. I’d recommend reaching out to a real person to authenticate your bags (i.e. Bababebi, etc.) as opposed to an algorithm or authentication app— these are often highly inaccurate and inept. In the end, there is no such thing as a good replica or "super fake"-- there is ALWAYS a callout.

This is crazy! I don’t think I would even realise that it’s fake (granted, i know nothing about Chanel lol)
Maybe someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I cannot afford a new one so I wouldn’t mind restoring one “well loved.” It wasn’t until I compared photos from different authentic listings that I noticed the flower pattern doesn’t match and the Chanel Paris stamp looked a bit suspicious (and the color of course). I was almost ready to pull the trigger and it would’ve definitely cost me

People can buy fakes any where on Facebook or DHGate. I came across a subforum called RepLadies on Redit and oh my goodness. There is a whole world of fakes from Hermes, Chanel to even Coach... They show contacts from factories in China and the "reputable" sellers. You can literally buy anything luxury for a small fraction of the price (most of them look obviously fake but still receive reviews of 10/10  . Apparently those people never saw a real bag). Thankfully the subforum was shut down after an article about a lady in NY revealing her fake B/K collections and she stated she got bags through this forum.

The fake bag in question is a "Birkin" 35 in orange ostrich leather (1st Dibs link: https://www.1stdibs.com/fashion/han...ermes-birkin-35-ostrich-orange/id-v_16056612/).
Welp, this listing is still active  You're literally doing them a favor by informing them about this bag....

I think several of the RepLadies from that sub joined a new private sub. I forget what I saw mentioned, but you can bet they aren't going away completely.

I know:( They emailed this morning saying they were still working on it, but that they were having trouble contacting the seller. It’s been a whole week now though, so I don’t understand the delay.

I'm not familiar with that website, but it's scary to think that this listing is still up. Whether or not they are acknowledging it's a replica makes no sense why they would open themselves up to this liability.

I watch YouTube for entertainment, and will search “Chanel bag” occasionally to see what is new. Without exception, the search results in many counterfeit unboxings, complete with ordering links. It is irritating because most do not say they are fakes in the title, so I end up watching a few minutes until I realize they are fakes.
Even worse, channels that used to only review authentic are now hawking counterfeit bags. One in particular I used to enjoy because she would often find and review vintage Chanel bags. But now almost all of her content are fakes. And it makes me uncomfortable that she orders and returns a lot of bags from Fashionphile, and that makes me wonder if she is ordering authentic bags but returning the fake in it’s place. Either way, she is helping in the flood of counterfeit bags in the resale market by encouraging people to buy counterfeit bags.

She's basically pulling a bait n switch with the type of content she's currently reviewing. How can you tell they are now fake?

I'm not too concerned about switching a bag out at FP. They will only accept returns if the tag is still on it and I'm sure they compare the serial tag numbers because they have a lifetime guarantee.

Oh that is right - I forgot that the tag still has to be on in order to return to Fashionphile. That makes me feel better.
This youtuber is open about the fakes. At first she did videos on the differences between real and fake bags. Now she is showcasing fakes so her viewers can try out styles at a much less expensive price point. I had been subscribed to her channel for a couple of years up until the point she started doing mostly counterfeit bag videos, which she calls replicas. And of course, she makes no mention that it is illegal to buy or sell counterfeit bags. I unsubscribed to her channel a few months ago, but her videos will pop up once in awhile as suggestions from YouTube. They are mostly fakes now.

This is such a good point!! That youtuber could be doing a bait and switch:sad: Fashionphile is VERY scrupulous though, so I doubt they'd let that slide.

I heard about this happening at a Louis Vuitton store and an Hermès store (both in Asia), where an SA would replace authentic bags with replicas they had purchased. In both instances, I believe lawsuits were filed and the customers won (thank goodness). It's just scary how much reps have infiltrated the luxury market.

Wait what?? The SAs accepted returns where customers were returning the fakes which later were sold to unsuspecting customers?? Wouldn't that be easy to trace based on purchase/return history? That seems too dumb to actually fly.

No no, the SAs were actually the ones purchasing the fakes. They would swap the authentic bags with the fakes and sell the fake bags to unsuspecting customers in the boutiques. Then, they would sell the authentic bags to resellers and keep all the profits.
