Best way to 'detax' after H in Europe

Just detaxed af CDG terminal 1 (T1) for a united flight leaving very early. I had read so many posts about extremely long waits that I got to the airport 3 hrs early, at 6 am and there was NO LINE. It took me literally 1 minute. I think it being a United-only flight probably helps to keep the traffic low. It was empty when I strolled by at 5 pm the night before as well (I was staying in airport hotel). It’s also very easy to find in T1!

A few times I've stayed in airport hotel and did the detaxe the night before. Technically you aren't supposed to but if the forms don't reject it works (and sometimes even if you have to see an agent they will process anyway) so its definitely worth a try.

I actually did try and the agents rejected me for being too early. :( I had a refund from the UK as well so I had to see an agent. It's probably up to luck and the agent's mood. In the end I'm glad I did get to CDG super early next morning because I really needed that time to shop all the duty free stores before my flight!

Both times when I had forms reject on a night before attempt I got lucky and they processed. I had one agent process without saying a word and another process but give me a lecture haha. Agree 100 percent about getting to the airport early...more time for duty free!

Ladies, so we have a change in our travel plans.... Now we will be departing from Nice-Zurich-Costa Rica, we will fly into Zurich the night before (25th) from Nice as our flight is super early on the 26th...... If I detax in Nice the day before (25th), would they let me? Im confused, as Zurich is not part of EU but has treaties etc etc
Do I detax in Nice as I would be technically leaving EU or in Zurich? Its our first time thru nice and zurich, im not sure how it work with the EU borders/detax......
Thanks for the help!

I’ve just had a very successful trip to Paris and will post about my scores once I get home.

Just curious if this has happened to anyone else on this forum. The Pablo detaxe machine gave me green check marks for my bag purchases. I was certain I would get the red X sign and have to line up to see the customs agent (which happened when I bought my Constance in February). Has this happened to anyone else? Not complaining but a little surprised...

Congrats! I think it's random with the pablo machine. I've had B/k's in regular leather with green and red but once had an exotic went green. It's down to luck I guess?

I’ve only gotten greens, have yet to get a red and line up. My last Hermes refund did take a good 2 months or even a little longer if I remember correctly though.

It did not require me to go see the customs officers either when I got my Kelly SO last year. It did not mark anything on the paper that I had to mail out either, so I was kind of confused for a second, but I got the refund on my Credit Card in about 2 months. TBH, I kind of prefer going through with the customs officers if the lineup isn't too long, just to be sure. lol.

Never had a problem with the Pablo machines at CDG, always beeps green and I always drop off the hard copies in the collection boxes. Refund timeline varies but I received my global blue refund within 1 week of my March trip this time (all 3 receipts).

Pablo was updated with new algorithms, there’s more randomness to the process when I went through CDG a couple of weeks ago. I think this is their way of spot checking folks with purchased goods to make sure they have them on them like they’re supposed to. I got red marks on small items like purchases less than €400. The system wouldn’t be as effective if everyone got through automatically would it?
