Cavalla is right pacificgal, as I always do registered mail to hermes or global blue from my home country when I get back as I have forms that have gotten lost before. My refund is also always faster. I don’t mind paying as the amounts I usually claim are quite significant. Smaller amounts I will just mail at the airport.

Good to know thank you for the clarification.

Hi all, I have a question please!

I would like to purchase Hermes Bracelet Clic H Black/Rose Gold (H700001FO01PM) at the Hermes store at Frankfurt Airport. I’m flying from Singapore to Brussels with a transit in Frankfurt (Singapore-Frankfurt-Brussels). On the way back to Singapore, I’m flying Brussels-Zurich-Singapore. It seems that the only airport on my trip itinerary that has an Hermes shop is at Frankfurt airport Terminal 1.

I have the following questions :

(1) Is the price of items at Hermes at Frankfurt charged without the German VAT ? The price of H700001FO01PM listed on the Hermes site is €535. Would it be priced at say, €446 (or without the VAT charged) at the Hermes store of Frankfurt airport ?

(2) Am i allowed to purchase at a VAT-free price at Frankfurt airport in transit on my way to Brussels through Frankfurt ? (Because during this stage I am entering the EU, not leaving the EU)

(3) how can i know beforehand if there is stock of this item H700001FO01PM at Frankfurt Airport ? It seems there are 2 stores at Frankfurt airport. Do these stores have email addresses ?

thanks..

1) They will charge you the full price (VAT included). You'll have to get the stamp upon your departure back home and get your refund when you're leaving EU.

2) Yes, you can purchase but will be charged with VAT.

3) You can call them. They can check the stock in both stores.

The tricky part is that you're not flying out of FRA. Unlike how most other stores work, usually they pay you back in cash at these 2 stores.

If I was transiting in Frankfurt on my way OUT of the EU, for example : Brussels-Frankfurt-Singapore, would they charge me the price with VAT or without VAT ? Note that this store is in the transit/non-public area of the airport.

They'll always charge you with VAT no matter what and give you refund after the custom stamps the form. The only difference between purchasing upon arrival and departure is one you have to wait to get the refund, and one you can get it immediately (the customs are basically next to the stores).

That's interesting. Thanks for the info. I am getting confused, because people have said that at CDG and LHR and Schipol airports the discount is instant/upfront without any need to get the refund from another customs refund counter. See these posts :

I frequent airport stores around the globe as I travel quite a lot and especially FRA for the past few years. ;)

Hello all I have a question
I had a form from Hermes which Pablo rejected and I took it to the customs at CDG and they scanned and approved it and gave it to me but I noticed there was no actual stamp on it when I asked they said it’s been scanned and no need for an actual stamp. Is this correct?

I went thru Charles de Gaulle in April and the same thing happened to me, which was new to me. The customs officer told me that instead of the stamp that they submit the information electronic now vs the physical stamp. I still ‘mailed’ my info in & I did indeed get my refund. Hope that helps.

Guys, I was told at CDG that I didn’t need to mail the form after they scanned it. So I didn’t. Has anyone done this?

They told me no stamp is required now but they did tell me to mail my envelopes off. The guy even pointed towards the direction of the mail boxes. This was back in April. But I always mail all my H receipts from home country and via registered mail as I have lost them in France’s mail system before.
I would call Global blue to double check. They have a local SG number for you to call.
