Global Blue just emailed me confirming that the forms I scanned on 4/29 were confirmed and being processed. They said it takes 36 days.

Apparently, Chanel is processed by another company and I accidentally submitted those numbers. Need to take another look at the forms later. Thank you, everyone!

Yes Chanel is premier. Global blue also told me 36 days. That must be their new magic number, although I'm a bit past that and nothing yet. My tracking numbers are still not in their system.

Thank you for the clarification, PdP.

Unreal, regarding your tracking numbers. Sheesh!! They must have a huge backlog or something. Looking forward to your update.

How frustrating! Can you tell us how you resubmitted? Did you have to get a new form from Hermes? This is the one scenario I haven't experienced. I thought I had seen everything by now.

My refund posted to my credit card today. Looks like it was exactly three weeks from when they received my re-submission. I actually checked the refund tracker yesterday and nothing was there, just the usual dear customer thing. But it did show up!

I left Paris on the 17th of May and while using the Pablo Kiosk to scan my H refund form, I got a red sad smiley and went to the agent. The agent asked me to show him my bag and when I did, he seemed to have used a scanner to scan the barcode on the form and then handed me the form. I'm now a little worried if he was supposed to stamp it. The last time I went to the agent with a sad red smiley, he had stamped the form(in paris). I had about 10 other refund forms and they all scanned fine on Pablo but, were for much smaller amounts.

Another, question I have is if there is any way to track refunds for H from FSH.

What you experienced is standard now. Refunds are processed through global blue. You can try their online tracking system. Sometimes they show up and sometimes not. If not read back a bit for our suggestions.

Thank you! I did try to track on GB's site and none of my receipts R showing up as yet. I'll wait a week or so before trying and then, start bugging them.

In my experience there is nothing on the Refund Tracker until the refund is within days of being credited. So do not worry if you do not see anything on the Refund Tracker on Global Blue website right away. For 17 May, I would wait at least three-four weeks before contacting Global Blue.

Update: Chanel's Premiere VAT tax credit was processed on 5/27, just two days shy of when I originally scanned documents on 4/29. Global Blue credit was processed very early this morning (6/3). Yah! It's funny because yesterday I checked the status of two forms on their website and they still weren't trackable! Very strange.

Ughh. I'm so frustrated with global blue and Amex. Global blue claims that one of my Hermes refunds was processed and credited to my account on 5/29. Amex says they never received it. That's the smaller refund of $200. Global blue claims my $2000 refund is being processed and will be paid on Friday 6/16. Both forms were stamped on 4/16. Neither appears in the global blue tracking system. I had to contact global blue by email several times to get this information. Amex is of not help whatsoever. Shopping overseas has just become too much of a hassle at this point.

Oh man. I'm so sorry to hear this, @PdP. Ugh! That's crazy that it's been almost two months! Did you also drop the forms, after scanning them, into the appropriate mailing boxes? Someone told me that I didn't have to mail them even after I got them validated, but I did so anyways, as a safety measure.

I think there's something seriously wrong with the Global Blue Tracking system. No one from that company wants to own up to this. It worked fine last Sept/Oct.

I hope it sorts itself out. Very frustrating when you calculate the VAT refund into decisions to buy. I always do.

Thanks for the sympathy. It helps. [emoji173]️

Yes I did drop them in the box. The $200 was stamped by Pablo and the other one from the agent. Global blue says they have them and that everything was in order. But they still haven't paid me. They are seriously messed up. And the agent who emailed me isn't very nice. I'm going to try to call later in the week, but I have to do it early in the morning US time. [emoji35]

That is so unlucky. I hope they resolve it quickly.

Arghh! So frustrating! I hope you get in touch with someone more sympathetic to this issue. Two months is unacceptable. Please keep us posted.

Just a thought, but every country in Europe has different policy so you might need to look it up first. Does H.Fr tax refund definitely have to be refunded to cc? I know in some countries it's not. If not, there's a city refund office in downtown Paris where you can get cash refund. Again, each country has its own refund policy, some countries have no fee for cash refund. Apparently in Paris the fee is 3.6€ each form, which is not too bad. In some countries they allow you to get the cash refund first then send them the stamped form afterwards. You need to provide your cc information in case they don't receive your form, they will deduct the amount from your cc plus possibly a processing fee (each country is different). But you can also bring the stamped forms to the office too, then no cc info required. I always try to get cash refund when I can, as i find the exchange rate horrible when they refund to your cc. Not sure if it's due to this double conversion mechanism or could they be using DCC? For those who travel to Europe often, it's especially practical to get cash refund. You need euro anyways. One way to do it is to claim it on your next visit. But figure out what the refund time frame is first. I vaguely remember France is 3 months but I'm not sure.

All the tax refund agencies are trying to get more and more cut from us, they first deduct the % you receive, then charge you more fees when you get cash refund (sometimes because they have other agencies processing this) then they try to convince you there's no fee with cc refund plus giving you some bad attitude and make you feel like you're doing something wrong asking for the money you have legitimate right to claim, but then when you agree to get cc refund, there's this not knowing when you're going to get your refund uncertainty, plus terrible exchange rate. At some point we'll need to speak up and let the merchants know that these agencies are not doing a good job and have made the whole shopping experience unpleasant.

I hope I make sense.

Hi PdP! I called and complained that I had a no foreign transaction fee card so I was entitled to the Euro VAT refund amount at the exchange rate on that day. I was credited the difference from actual refund and what should have been the refund at the euro conversion rate. Very strange that they convert to £s and then $. Next time I will request the VAT back to visa!

Did you confirm with the rate on that day? Is it not too far off? I'm asking because I think they (tax refund agencies) might be converting it with DCC.
