Best way to 'detax' after H in Europe

I returned from Paris on November 16th. All my vat forms were scanned successfully at the CDG airport using the Pablo machine, including my Hermes purchases. I dropped off the forms at the La Poste mailbox since it was near the Pablo machine and I did not see any Global Blue box. Today is the first day I checked the status in the Global Blue online tracking system, it says "no records". Any idea why?

Thanks!
I returned on 11/26 and dropped all the form in the mailbox per custom in France even some form doent need to be mail out....I just tracked and nothing show up :(

Thank you PP for your response. Interesting enough, I was informed by the custom personnel standing by the Pablo area that as long as everything pass the Pablo machine there is no need to drop the forms in the mailbox. We still did just in case.

Thanks!

Yes all of my jewelry and expensive bag forms are rejected my Pablo. That's where the problem arises. You have to trust that the agent properly "stamped" them. There used to be a physical stamp that you could photograph but not any more. You have no proof. The agents keep messing up for me. My Hermes forms appear to have been properly stamped by the agent this time thank goodness.

Oh no! When did this change? Mine were physically stamped in August :(
I liked the stamp!! Ugh.

Also FYI the global blue card I told you about. Amsterdam processed my global blue card no problem however I've been having trouble doing the same in Spain so looks like I will have to input my info and cc details on each form which is annoying. Only one store told
Me they could do it if I had a physical card but that would be arriving a week from now since it takes two weeks since you apply for it.

I went through Detaxe recently and it was the first time for me that my Hermes forms were rejected. I dont know if it is dollar threshold or certain items. When I saw the agent he stamped my form and returned it to me and told me the same thing as above, that I did not need to mail it to Global Blue. I went ahead and dropped it in the box though since I already had another copy.

This is interesting since some stores like Chanel only give one copy. When I had a problem with global blue they sent me the form to take to the local French consulate and I eventually got my money. Premier refuses to send the form to me to do that and since it's only $100 probably it's not worth my time. But it might make sense then to hold onto your forms and make sure they go through unless you have a copy. From now on I'm going to ask for cash other than Hermes. It's a bit less but probably worth it.

The forms that get rejected by Pablo for me always contain bags or jewelry. I was surprised that the Chanel form with two brooches for 800 euros were rejected. My clothing forms for 2000-3000 went through just fine.

For those flying out of Paris Orly (instead of Paris-CDG), there is only 1 detaxe in each terminal. I can’t speak for the South (Sud) terminal, but for those flying out of the West (Ouest) terminal, the detaxe is in the Arrivals area near Hall 3. It’s a small booth and the customs officers don’t arrive until 8 AM. This can be problematic if you have an early morning flight as you still need to check in and go through security. The PABLO machines also were down at this location, but for expensive items, it seems this doesn’t matter as PABLO won’t accept them and it needs to be done manually by the customs agent. Out of all the items we bought, the agent just wanted to see the most expensive one and we showed him and he went ahead and stamped all the receipts. La Poste has a mailbox to the right of the customs office between the sliding glass doors.

My advice... if you’re flying out of Orly, do not take any flight earlier than 10AM if you’re planning on getting VAT refunds on your larger valued items to allow time to get your receipts stamped, check in for your flight, and then go through the long security line.

May I ask if anyone has shopped at H Brussels and processed the tax refund at Paris CDG Airport? On my last Europe trip in end Sept, I did just that and till date I have not gotten back any of my tax refunds from H Brussels. Should I wait a little longer before I email Global Blue?

Also, one of my H receipt was paid for by my friend's credit card and the SA told me that it's ok for me to indicate a different credit card for the tax refund, even if the original credit card for payment didn't belong to me, is this true?

Thanks for your help ladies!

That's unfair of Premier. Getting cash is probably the best option for the non-Hermes stuff. I used to do that often, but the last time I opted for cash of course there was some sort of problem (!) with the link to Pablo and the cash system window at Travelex that made it take longer. So the next time I did everything with the card and didnt do the cash. that was probably a one-off event though. It is nice to get the Euros for the next trip too. On my last trip I stayed at a hotel near CDG the last night and did my VAT forms the night before. It was so much easier.

No experience with H Brussels. My husband used a different card once for his VAT versus what he paid and it did go through. Both cards were in his name though. I recall that it did take a little longer. Sept seems awhile, I think you should contact Global Blue. The different names sound like it would be a problem.

For reference, I left Paris on 11/12. Global blue stated that my refunds were paid ten days ago. Amex finally credited them today 12/31. I received all four global blue refunds. Two Hermes two nonhermes. One premier refund says it is in process but not yet paid.

Amex and global blue are definitely up to something fishy with the refunds. Somehow a 1225 euro refund became a 1201 refund. Huh? When did the euro dip below 1? And they are no longer stating on the Amex transactions exactly what exchange rate they are using.
It will be interesting to see what the premier refund comes back as.

I really think I'm going to take cash at the airport for anything I can from now on despite the fact that some stores give more if you agree to take it on your credit card. Between the missing stamps and the cut that Amex takes I think it's better to take the cash and be sure of it. Of course this still isn't possible at Hermes.

I think the difference of refund you received was due to using Amex. Anther member posted a thread about this couple years ago. She was upset about getting less and contacted H, who told her they process Amex differently. Something along the line of having Amex purchases/refunds processed in UK instead, hence having to go through currency exchange twice.

They really should warn you about the difference of cards when paying but u know how things are in Europe. Or perhaps the cashiers aren't aware of the fact.
