hi BigCherry - yes I still have the purple LM, though don't take it out much as I also find I like smaller bags these days, however when I do use it it's very much admired.Hi Ajamy have you still got the purple pebbled LM midi? I also bought the vermillion Madrid but with the gunmetal and a covet me mini in black. Lucky for me I'm into small bags these days.
It is a sad day indeed. I have high hopes that a small business like this would work against the giant money machine. Her designs, material, craftmanship from Marco was stellar.
Her designs speaks to me...I love my BEs...my biggest regret was doing s BEC TMA midi in Choc Matte instead of a LM Midi. I miss my Choco Matte and also regret using Sheen leather on my MMS midi, CMMidi and Tote Me Midi..
Though the colors of sheen leathers are beautiful, they are not as sturdy as other leathers
I wish Jackie well and hope someday BE will be revived...
I am sorry to see BE having a closing sale but I cannot say I am surprised at all. They have not maintained any contact with their loyal customers who have supported them for many years. They went silent for so many years with no new styles or leathers from season to season. I learned to love beautifully handmade Italian leather bags made the old fashioned way. Unfortunately I have moved on to buying from the same Italian leather handbag craftsman who now has a great line at a very good price point - Marco Massaccesi. Same quality same craftsmanship great new designs at a much better price point.
Sad to see the end of this era but pleased it is continuing with a great new line of current styled bags.
Unfortunately BE stayed silent so many yrs, not explaing anything to their clients, so of course people moved on! Many clients were stable and loyal to the brand , and loved the craftmanship in the handemade bags. So no wonder when never a reply came, when asked directly, clients felt let down, betrayed and disappointed, also because they mistakenly had the feeling of having a friendly relationship with the owner.
BUT the craftmanship is still there! And still wonderfully made..
Agreed Bonnie - looking At my order page on BE website I ordered a LOT of stock and custom bags between about 2009/11 but then didn't buy with them for a while, some financial reasons and my home circumstances changing.... My last ever BE purchase was a black Covet Me in goatskin w pewter HW. It just arrived this am and the leather is fab but TBH there's no way I could have justified buying this at full price. I looked at Jackies FB page and see she is in to lots of kids healthy eating stuff , whilst it must have been logistically difficult running BE when she was in Sweden with family I think the fact no new designs etc came out for ages really hurt the brand... And the prices seemed to go up to be on a par with Mulberry etc... I have looked at Marcos bags on the website and they look wonderful, lovely leathers and reasonable prices... Felt at some point with BE the bags seemed to go more fashion focussed - like satchels and rucksacks - coz Mulberry and PS were doing them... A lots of the older styles like the Hold Ne and Hug me seemed just available as BEC which pushed the price up.
VanBod, totally agree, love me new Cover Me ( leather feels same as my old Bal Chèvre bags, before they started using the lamb skin,)Hi Prada,
I also got into BE in 2009 and bought until 2011. That was a really fun period with the brand and this board rocked. I loved the originality of the designs, the leathers and the lack of logo but then that started to change. I'm not sure if there were investors or what but a lot went out the window that had been a mainstay. The designs started to follow trends (not a bad thing but not what drew me to them), they started to get logos/motifs (a turnoff for me), the leathers changed and the prices went up to Mulberry level but the brand didn't have the same value in the market so if you wanted to sell to fund something else...you lost big time. The photos that real women could post on their site to showcase the bags (vital when you don't have stores) were hidden away as if they didn't fit the new brand image they were trying to create and the whole vibe of the brand just seemed to change.
Most of my bags are still BE and I love them. I have too many probably but will now only part with the ones that just do not work for me anymore. Of their newer designs, I liked the Covet Me, the Barcelona (love that whiskey leather) and of course the London (both sizes). Pretty happy that I managed to snag these and they are well used!
