Being Banned From Coach Stores - Did You Read?

Just wondering - Is Coach still actively banning people, or is this a thing of the past?

i also wonder this -- does anyone know if they're still doing this? i've bought over 10k of items from coach this past year and returned a good percentage of them...i haven't gotten a ban letter yet thank goodness

also -- people keep saying that they send a letter to customer's address? just curious -- when do they collect address information? i suppose from FOS sales they have address information but if you buy in store, many times they don't ask for address

From what people have written here on TPF they do sometimes send letters to the customers home. But some people show up at the outlet before they receive the letter, or the letter gets delayed or something.

OTOH since it's probably the managers who report the customers in the first place, they may not mind embarrassing the customer in the store.

Word.

I honestly think it's more than just simple returns. The two types of activities I do know that have resulted in bans (or return bans) have been - bag squatting, where the buyer buys something at FP and waits for it to go to outlet, whereby they return and rebuy for the lower price (and I'm thinking they probably show a pattern of doing that, I don't think the occasional instance here or there would trip the ban trigger ;-))) OR buying a delete at outlet price (or getting a PCE) and attempting to return it to FP for FP price, which is theft.

But I suppose a large volume of straight-up returns could do it too - I know people who have been "locked out" of online ordering at other retailers or given return bans, for excessive returns.

I heard that, someone with Old Navy.

But for selling online they should be prepared for returns. Ppl buy items without touching or trying it on so online sales expect higher return rate that in-store purchases. For example: Coach FOS, especially when they post up items without detail/mod picture (Park collection), sometimes without color code. FOS recently also send out several defective merchandises geez...

I think the key is "excessive". There probably is generally a higher rate of returns for online purchases, because people can't evaluate the item in person. The probably have metrics of how much the average shopper returns from online sales, and it's those people that consistently return more that probably trip the line for the ban letter.

Ha, bag squatting. Makes me laugh every time!
I have made a few returns over the last few months, smaller items. I have had the receipt and tags on each time. The SA's are always super nice about it.
I wonder if they ever considered giving maybe a warning to people at risk of being banned? Like "We've noticed a trend of returning, if it continues we may no longer be able to accept your business, blah, blah". Seems like it might be a more diplomatic way to do it.

I think it's suspected resellers who are more apt to be banned than returners.

I do think that serial returners who return without receipts are apt to be banned, I don't think that receipted returns are an issue at all.

But if Coach suspects a customer of being a reseller, they ban them. Someone is considered to be a reseller if they buy in quantities that are considered to be more than the average person would use for themselves and reasonably give as gifts.

Yep, my daughter actually got locked out of Old Navy's website - she would order an item in 2 or 3 sizes and return the ones that didn't fit. She's a busy girl and their sizing is inconsistent, but she returned 2/3rds of what she ordered and eventually, they actually locked her out. She kept getting a 404 page - but not at work. Figured it out finally!

I have read QVC bans customers who are repetitive returners, I think it usually occurs when someone returns more than what they keep, constantly ordering and then canceling orders, and when they return used cosmetics or skincare more often than not. They are very good about returning used cosmetics within 30 days no questions asked. But when you do it consistently they're losing money since they then have to dispose of the cosmetics.

Life's too short for bag squatting! Most of the time I use a bag I buy the very next day. If I don't feel the urge to then I know I should probably return. There are so many beautiful bags out there, it's better to LOVE a bag than just like it :)

There are maybe a couple bags in my collection that I just like and dont love, mauve Kristin tote comes to mind. I like it but don't love it. I've used it a handful of times so I may end up selling it I guess. I'm just too lazy right now lol

Yes, your daughter. ON is so weird, at least they should have let your daughter know . She ordered online and they have her info, not difficult to send a simple email i/o secretly blocking her IP.

Found out why I've been locked out of FOS. CS told me I've been identified as a reseller. WHICH I AM NOT.

I am so mad right now. I buy bags, figure out I don't like them, then return them. You know, because the bags on the website usually aren't available at stores. All my returns are done with receipts and unused bags. And yes, sometimes it's a while before I can do a return, but I'm disabled and the outlet is an hour away.

I have NEVER returned a bag without a reciept, or one without tags. I have NEVER bought a bag at FP then tried to return and rebuy. There was ONE return that a few months went by before returning - I bought the bag in April, I think, and returned in July. (That one was for my mom, who finally told me she wouldn't use it.)

Figures it's when Marine Haley hits FOS. I've been wanting that bag for MONTHS. And now I'll probably have to get it off ebay, which is just ironic.

Does this mean they are going to ban me from the FOS and FP stores as well?

Oh no, I'm so sorry this happened to you. And no, you are not a reseller so don't let this go. Ask them what did they depend on to say you were a reseller, they have any evidence?

About returns, I've returned a lot. I'm new to Coach so never try things on at FP store and don't have any outlets around so I buy from FOS in blind.

Recently I even returned twice on the legacy medium wallet in sand. I love love that wallet but when it arrived it had a big pond on the leather (not sure how to say in English but the surface is uneven, in large area). Since I love it so much I ordered another one hoping it would be better without any defects. But no, the 2nd wallet came with uneven color or fading color, some places turn pink i'o sand. I was so unlucky. So I returned both, just simply return as change mind, not mentioning anything about quality.

Really hope things get better for you, fight them back Jadis.
