Being Banned From Coach Stores - Did You Read?

She walked in to buy stuff and they handed her a letter.

Yes, she can go to another store where they don't know her and pay cash (and give someone elses info if she wanted to).

I've seen one lady at the San Marcos outlet, and she must buy to sell on ebay. The SAs are always really nice to her, greet her, and automatically come over with one of those big Coach shopping bags to haul her stuff. She will immediately go over to the Purse/wristlet clearance section and grab a bunch of wristlets, barely looking at anything. One time she was asking about the large type luggage carryalls, and said she'd take 4 or 5. She bought a bunch of purses too. I figure it must be obvious to the SAs that she's buying for ebay, and they don't seem to care.

They send letters to the customer and all of the surrounding stores, it just baffles me that they have the balls to go back! We had a customer banned from returning w/o a receipt and low and behold she came back to return- without a receipt!!! She knew what she was doing too.

OK, I am going to restrain from going to the Outlet for a while. Another seller got banned from the Coach Outlets. Gee, you would think they would send a letter so as not to embarass their customers at the store....

I'm just concerned about getting banned too. I love Coach. Am hopelessly addicted even. I buy a couple bags a month sometimes, if I can afford it. I've returned one item before without a receipt, but that was because it was a gift, and I already had the exact same thing I'd bought myself...it would be my worst purse nightmare, to be banned from Coach.

But I'm sure I don't buy at nearly the level the banned people do.

I often see people at the San Marcos outlet buying LOTS of stuff--both arms are full, their husbands are stocked up like pack mules and they're on the telephone talking about different styles. I got the impression that they didn't care.

It is nice to have eBay when you want a style or something that's not available and you don't live anywhere close to an outlet or boutique. I see it as another way to get Coach to people who can't get it otherwise, and as long as they follow all laws, it should be fine.

I know, this confuses me too. I spent $1500 at the san marcos outlet a few weeks ago. About $800 worth was for me, and the rest was gifts or just stuff I knew I could use as a gift eventually.

Then I stopped at Round Rock on the way home and spent a little more (they had a great legacy bag on clearance).

Now, I'm going to florida to see my gparents and want to go to the outlet there. That would be three outlets in a month, I'm a nervous wreck about this now. I resell a few Coach things, but maybe 4 or 5 a month, nothing too major, the stuff really is for me and my family or gifts

I wouldn't worry. Even those numbers aren't big enough for you to get banned. This girl on that thread was hitting a store once or twice a week for $1500 each time which is kind of over-the-top, but that's just my opinion.

I agree, that's 3K a week for months on end.

I'll calm down, I would just be so embarrassed! Plus I worry since Coach has my bag for repair. Ugh, I need help!

I'd be embarassed too if it was me, but I have to say that it's obvious she was reselling. $3000 a week for months on end? I mean, 3 G's will buy a lot of Coach unless she's getting the $1600 special edition basket set on the site now! :graucho: I hate to say it but it seems like in her case Coach was just protecting themselves.

Besides Court you're such a loyal shopper and they all know you at your store, I'm sure, and see you carrying your bags  I still feel so bad for your poor gorgeous metallic leather Gallery tote. I really hope it works out and you're satisfied! Keep us posted!

This is an interesting thread & one I was thinking about today. I wanted the legacy hippie flap bag & called my local outlet--nada. So I called one 2 1/2 hrs away & they had it. I bought it, but I have to drive down there to get it. THey wouldn't ship it. Part of me understand this, as it relates to ebay sales (though the kate spade outlet in chicago has shipped a couple of items to me); yet the ppl who live close to those outlets can go & resell whenever. It stinks that I can't get a bag shipped to me (or to the outlet near me) b/c of all this stuff. I could care less about reselling; in fact, it's the american way--just don't punish the rest of us!

I don't think them not shipping has anything to do with ebay stuff

They don't ship because if they did they would spend all day on the phone with people looking for something and wanting it shipped. Lots of outlets don't ship, some do, most don't. Outlets are supposed to be a sparse thing, something people do occassionally, this is why they are often near very touristy locations (the beach, Orlando, etc)

Most people don't have an outlet near them, most of the times outlets aren't in the heart of major cities. I'm in a biiiiiig metro area in Dallas Ft Worth and the closest Coach outlet is 3 hours away, and that one just opened less than a year ago, before that is was almost 4 hours away

I have no problem with the SA's embarassing or making it difficult for these peole who resell. It is the price they should have to pay for taking advantage. When people resell it makes it harder for honest customers to purchase the item they went to the store with the intention of buying for THEMSEVLES to use and appreciate.

She must not have gotten the letter yet however, We have a few people who know they are banned from shopping or returning things and they act all suprised when we tell them that they cannot purchase anything and bring out the letter and then they act like "oh that thing, well alright bye".

I have been to the San Marcos outlet only a few times... the first time I was there, a bunch of new stuff had just been put out that morning. There was a woman with her husband shopping and she bought a TON of stuff! When she checked out, her total was over $2500. Many duplicates of items. She had a wallet I really wanted - she had about 8 of them and no more in the store. My mom went and asked her if she needed all 8 of them! :p She wouldn't give one up.

Out of curiosity, I went back and put in an ebay search for Coach and put in a 100 mile range of San Marcos zip code... I was surprised at how many major Coach sellers are within 50 miles of the outlet!

Sure enough - I found her! One of the items she purchased was the only one at the outlet and a pretty new item. That's how I recognized her -- and still watch her auctions...

I personally am glad to have resellers on ebay because I can't get to an outlet and it's hard to tell my mom what I want when I don't know what's there... but it is also frustrating that the sellers get everything. I agree with both sides of the issue. :p
