I sold books to a place called BookOff here which must be similar to the one mentioned above. I didn't have many worth selling to Amazon or ebay. I did sell comic books on ebay though.

The ones that didn't sell a local school took them! If they didn't, the local library takes them too for their book sale. :)

I've been selling off random things lately, which has helped keep February busy (my dog kept me super busy all of January). Once I run out of things to list on ebay, it should be close to birthday season for a lot of family, DBF, coworkers. Finding them gifts doesn't require going to shops that have handbags so I should be good. More things to keep occupied.

I recently switched to a bag I rarely carried since I purchased it. It's nice to carry it and remember the memories from my trip. Normally, I would be swayed by the spring-summer releases at this time and would've bought up several bags by now. So this is a pleasant change.

I need to be on ban island until June so any advice on how not to be spending on anything that begins with a c or h, or contains the initials vca or BV would be really appreciated! I have already stopped following certain Instagram profiles and try my best not to peruse to various posts here like “what have you seen where!” And I am doing my best not to make mall excuses. The hard thing is I do have to make one trip to H to buy someone special a vday gift. It will be very hard not shopping for myself! Any suggestions on how not to get wrapped up in purchasing things at H? I need to be good because I’m going on two vacations in the next six months. And I am trying to save up to buy myself and a special someone very nice birthday gifts!

I have brought books to Half Priced Books in the past. But nothing of value because as you say they really don’t pay you much for the books they buy. I think I need to buckle down and sort my books. Those I want to keep, those I want to sell and those I want to donate.

Books are a huge problem for me too. Sooooo many books and I am quite sure that we won´t read the most of them again...
This is why I really have stopped my book addiction. I get some electronically but I really like paper. So, I get others from the library. Now I only buy books if they are parts of a very few series I collect. I’ve gotten it all down to one bookcase.

It’s not worth my time to list and sell one book for a couple dollars profit and I don’t have any rare or collectible books. So, if I buy books I either plan to keep them or will just give them away now.

Great job, Bakeacookie! How fun to have a sweet pup to help keep you occupied with things other than shopping. Way to go with coming up with other things to do to fill your time.

I really enjoy getting outside but lately it’s been too cold. :hrmm: So then I ride my bike which is set up on an indoor trainer. Not as much fun as riding outdoors but it’ll have to do until spring.

When I return from Vegas my goals are to get back to listing items on eBay and researching Amazon’s selling policies to decide if that would be a good way to sell my books. And finish my Whole30 challenge. I’m on day three.

Welcome Kate! It sounds as though you’re already doing well with removing temptation by unfollowing IG accounts and other social media that will be tempting you to shop. How about any hobbies? A new fitness routine? Reorganizing the bags or scarves you already own?

Where are you going on your vacations? I love to travel! If I had to choose between a new bag or travel, 9 times out of 10, travel would win!

I put myself on a self-imposed ban for all shopping for the time being. I just wanted to see if I could do it. And I want to slowly purge my bags and clothing items that are not being used. For me it is easier to do this if I don’t have new items coming in. If you feel the urge to shop, feel free to come here to vent.

Check your eBay messages. I just got an email for 200 free insertions. That helps a little.

Listing on eBay works too. That occupied me for a few hours taking pictures, then while I waited for Bella at the groomer I listed everything.

I have another round of pictures and listings to do, so that’s enough to keep me entertained after work and out of the shops another day. [emoji4]

Thank you! I have plenty of things to do to keep me busy but it’s a little too easy to fit in shopping time! I live in an area where I have four chanel boutiques within a thirty minute drive and all near a Whole Foods. Ahhh! Basically I need to avoid all shopping apps and social media including this forum. This way there isn’t a temptation to stop by a boutique and see that bag or whatever at C or wherever!

Somewhere nice and warm for the first one. The second one will be out west. I had hoped to do an international trip but Work is very busy.

Unfortunately I like traveling just as much as I like shopping!

Ok. Soooooo...I’m finally understanding what keeps me from buying.

I was very frustrated with myself the past few years because I couldn't seem to stick within my planned buying limits. But I’ve realized that, during this time of overhauling my collection, the buying made “sense.” (well, as much as having multiple designer bags ever makes sense. hee hee) That buying gave me a collection that meets all my needs / wants.

Now, however, I’m just about at the end of the overhaul. Add in the fact that I really hate to have bags I don’t use. So, when I see pretty bags that would normally tempt me, I think about whether “new bag” will cannibalize uses from what I have. Even worse, would it render one of my bags obsolete because I would always choose “new bag” over “old bag”. For the past 7 months the answer has always been yes to one or both of those questions. Aaaaaand, soooo.... all of a sudden - no buying. :-s

I’m sharing this in case it helps anyone else. If you’re still building your collection, a ban may be harder to do as you could feel frustrated with gaps. But, if you have a collection that meets most or all of your needs maybe you can think of whether “newbag” will cause a negative disruption in your current collection. And that pause may allow you to avoid buying. Just something to ponder. HTH.

i have almost the same feeling at the moment...
i really slowed down buying, for the past 7 months i got 2 bags for my bday, 1 for NY/xmas (gift from Santa) and one workhorse pretty recently, and at the same time i sold 2 bags, and sent 4 more for evaluation in 2 consignment stores, and some no-brand ones just donated. I feel like i need to move on some more, just can't figure out which ones should be next candidates, but i'll get there as well. And i have no any interest in new collections being posted on my regular shopping sites... AT ALL! can i start felling happy already???

almost 2 months no bag purchase and I´m also not so tempted to buy one :-) of course I would love to buy one but first priority is my new apartment.. we are moving in may so I need to save up for the furniture etc... so until summer I need to wait .. if my apartment is finished then I can concetrate on buying a new lv:-) I´m still tempted to buy a LV key cles and a mini pochette but it´s not that important for me .. I guess if I´m not that tempted I will also wait until summer :-)

So....my issue with bags is addiction and hoarding. I am going through another purge right now....as much as I loved some of them, I was feeling overwhelmed by them - so I tried a bunch on and found some just aren't as practical as I had hoped - I have a shoulder issue. So that led to a bunch more that are going to the consignment store or getting donated.....feeling much better about my collection. It is now still large, but not hoarder status, which is nice. I think this will help keep me from buying more bags. I don't feel guilty about this collection anymore, though I wouldn't show it to others who don't care about bags! But I mean, I feel right about the ones I am keeping, and the amount I paid for them, and the amount of use I will get out of them. I wish I hadn't lost so much with overbuying, even if I did manage to sell a bunch of them. Well, the ones I am keeping were all purchased at reduced price or even used, so....I don't know. Whatever, what's done is done!
