Two solid months exactly! Feeling smug. My October custom purse is en route and when it arrives that’s the last new bag for me for awhile...

Well done!

Oh. My. Gosh. I have been packing, repacking, unpacking, and packing again all day! I leave at 6:15am tomorrow morning. I guess I will be ready by then.

Off to watch YouTube videos about packing light, because I failed miserably!

So I thought of why I’m on a ban in the first place. I’m on a ban to just challenge myself. It’s so easy to get the next best thing, so easy to get caught up in shopping. I wanted to make shopping feel special, not just the thing I do when I’m bored.

I want to really appreciate what I have since I accumulated a lot in just a few years. This should get me to really hone in my style, as well as find more time for other craft projects I kept putting off to shop.

Our bans are similar in nature, Bake. I enjoy a good challenge! Although TBH my ban is space related, too. We have a fairly large home but it is pretty full with our family of five. Everywhere I look I see stuff and I like clean spaces. So I thought a ban would be a good way to slow down what’s coming into our home and a chance for me to put more money in savings as an added benefit. My goal is to use and appreciate what I already have while slowly purging, organizing and cleaning our home.

I’ve got to get back at it with eBay. I just shipped out a beautiful long wool coat I sold that belonged to my oldest daughter 12-13 years ago. It was Marshall Fields. Back before everything got bought up by Macy’s and customer service disappeared. To be honest, most of my items are not this old but all it took was my taking a few pics and listing it.

More importantly is my substantial library. That will take time but it needs to be dealt with. We used to homeschool and I have a lot of books we are no longer using that I would like to sell or donate.

Congratulations on your sale, well done!
Books are a hard one. They are heavy and the place I take my books to doesn’t pay much and they don’t accept everything. The rest I donate to Goodwill. Chipping away at it does pay off. I made about $75 from selling two boxes of books last fall. The best part is getting the books out of the house and more space on bookshelves ... to add more books! Good luck!

Do you have a Half Priced Books in your city? They don’t pay much but it something and it gets the books out of your house.

Thank you! A few years ago I listed about 1500 books on Half.com. I sold quite a few books and did pretty well until eBay closed Half.com down at the end of August. Now I need to decide if I want to sell my books on Amazon. It would mean the tedious task of re-listing everything though. :yucky:

I have brought books to Half Priced Books in the past. But nothing of value because as you say they really don’t pay you much for the books they buy. I think I need to buckle down and sort my books. Those I want to keep, those I want to sell and those I want to donate.

I like what both of you wrote, bakeacookie and can do mum!
Yesterday I thought it would be fun to match jewelry and bags. Another way to enjoy what we already have.
IF you want to post: There is a new thread called: Handbags AND matching jewelry

Books are a huge problem for me too. Sooooo many books and I am quite sure that we won´t read the most of them again...
Have you considered selling online, Udalrike? Check Amazon to see if they have value, and if so, it might be worth it your time. Unfortunately many books do not keep their value. I’ve stopped buying current reads unless it’s a book I know I will read again or I don’t want to wait to get it from the library. The books that I have done the best with are out of print publications that are in demand but unfortunately those are rare, lol!

I must admit that we are too lazy to sell books. About one year ago we decided to throw many books away.
It was the whole trunk of our car that we threw in the paper container. While doing this my husband laughed and asked me: Which book do you think I am throwing away right now? "Simplify your life" !:biggrin:
I’m sad you had to toss good books! Is there not a library in your area that would take them? Through the years as I’ve eliminated our homeschool supplies I have put the word out on Facebook that I have whatever it is for free to the first taker and usually have no problem finding someone who wants it.

I agree, selling books is tedious. However, it was quite an investment buying all the books we own and I felt as though I should make the attempt to recoup some of our costs, which I did!

You are right, Can do mom. Ash on my main.... Since last Sunday I have some books in the car I want to give to a warehouse, where quite poor people can buy used things. I don´t get money for them there.
