Next Thursday will mark 4 months of my bag ban.
Do trades count? I’m guessing some are allowing trades, doing a 1 in 1 out, to not count against them?

I think it is an individual decision and one that depends upon the reason for your ban. Is it simply a space issue? Then one in, one out makes sense. Is it a financial issue? Then I would be more rigid with sticking to the ban. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever made a decision on my ban.

I couldn't believe how much we spent. I almost spent 1/3 more than I expected. And I really tried to save this month!
But well, at least husband was impressed that this month we didn't have to use money from our personal accounts to refill our household account.
That’s why I think this is so important. If you don’t keep track, it’s really easy to go over budget and not be aware of it. Knowledge is power!
So I thought of why I’m on a ban in the first place. I’m on a ban to just challenge myself. It’s so easy to get the next best thing, so easy to get caught up in shopping. I wanted to make shopping feel special, not just the thing I do when I’m bored.
I want to really appreciate what I have since I accumulated a lot in just a few years. This should get me to really hone in my style, as well as find more time for other craft projects I kept putting off to shop.

Our bans are similar in nature, Bake. I enjoy a good challenge! Although TBH my ban is space related, too. We have a fairly large home but it is pretty full with our family of five. Everywhere I look I see stuff and I like clean spaces. So I thought a ban would be a good way to slow down what’s coming into our home and a chance for me to put more money in savings as an added benefit. My goal is to use and appreciate what I already have while slowly purging, organizing and cleaning our home.

About to make 30 days tomorrow! Woot! Packing for my month-long trip tomorrow, as well. I have most things laid out, now to organize them. I made it through my Los Angeles trip. I packed light for that, then hubby decided to add his things to mine. The bags then overflowed, including my purse! Thanks, hun! It's the purse I expected to carry with me on my long trip. An LV Lumineuse. LOVE it. Only trouble is the darned thing is quite heavy! It was my last purchase. Might reconsider what comes with me. I might be back to my Speedy B35. Ribs are still sore from my fall, so I am going with a wheeled tote. Purse to be determined.

We did a very small bit of shopping in Los Angeles as a time filler. I got some leggings and a sweater. Under $50, and not on my ban. I was aiming for parking validation, but the store I was in didn't validate. The store hubs was in did...I had the ticket. Timing was such that we could not backtrack. Oh well.
Here is to another 30 days of luxury bag ban. Oh, I received the Coach wristlet from shopgoodwill. Very nice. I'll find a good use for it while packing, I expect..or perhaps not. It was not a luxury bag, so I am not concerned about the under $20 purchase of it.
So funny...4:32 here...my dog just popped up. 4:30 is feeding time. "C'mon people! Get with the program!" She has an uncanny sense of time.

I forgot to add something to my update. Another win for me. I went to LA for a doctor's appointment. I had mentioned way upthread that I wanted an agenda, but really don't have a true need. Well the doctor has ordered some injections after which I am to keep thorough pain journals. Guess what went through my mind? YES...agendas!
Well, when we were shopping in LA before my appointment I saw some planners on sale. I did not know I'd have a need, so I didn't really look at them. Yesterday we ran by the local mall, and I found one with fairly large daily spaces for 75% off. $2.49 is much better than a luxury agenda! As I've been telling myself a lot lately, if I use this, the lux one will still be available later. Yes, my ban in only for bags, but cutting down on expenses right now is a good thing for me.
