I also disagree that the watch looks old fashioned or dates. A classic will always hold its own. We just might wear it in a different way. eg you might wear a vintage watch with jeans and tshirt!!!!

The http://www.ballonbleu.cartier.com/Cartier Ballon Bleu gets its name from the sapphire cabochon crown which is incorporated into its rounded case. The rounded watch is available in 19 versions in three sizes 42, 36.5, and 28.5 mm and in 18K white, pink or yellow gold and stainless steel with 18K yellow gold. The movement is the automatic Cartier caliber 049, it has sapphire crystals and the dial features a subtle "C" motif. The ladies models are available with diamonds on the bezel and dial. The prices range from $4,950 to $46,000.

I am sure that as this is a old post that you have bought your watch now! But just to tell you that I have the samll 2 tone ballon bleu. I wear it all the time for work etc and love it, I too wondered about the larger one but felt that it may date a little quicker and make too much of a over statement.

I think it is GORGEOUS (altho for some reason did not at first) and wish I bought it with my discount when my store still carried Cartier! I hope you get one!

I have mixed feelings about it...some days I don't like it but other days I do, in general I would get another Cartier instead of the Ballon Blue, for example the Roadster (which I own, and tried the ballon bleu when buying it), but that's just my opinion...if you really like it go for it as I love Cartier watches in general.

I have the medium one --stainless and gold--and I adore it. I get so many compliments when I wear it. I have several other Cartiers (including the pink roadster in this picture), but this is my favorite.

The Cartier Ballon Bleu is one of my favorite watches. I tried one on at the Cartier Store in Bal Harbor, Fl. My dream watch is the medium size face, solid yellow gold with the diamond bezel. I never thought I would want another round face after wearing my Rolex for so many years. I have stayed with tank shapes lately. My first good watch was a classic Cartier Tank with the ivory face and Roman Numerals. The band has been changed to burgundy croc.

After trying on the Ballon Bleu, it's all I can think about. I leave magazine pictures of the watch around the house for my husband to get the hint. I have an anniversary and birthday coming up, and let's not forget Christmas. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Also, one of my daughter's friends, 28years old just got the two-tone Ballon Bleu. She loves it because she feels it goes with more things.
