Great Thread Idea!
Yes. For me there are a quite a few beautiful bags that I just don't think I'll ever make mine.
Gucci Dionysis Laser Cut Satchel. I saw this in person and its TDF! I came a hair's breadth from buying it. But it's a bit...much. I can't see me wearing it a lot for the cost, I think it would be too memorable, and I think it may look dated in just a few years (oh that's sooo 2015. LOL!)
Saint Lauren Sac du Jour - Gosh, I crave this bag. But, it's so heavy. I would use this as a workhorse bag in a medium and put my wallet, iPad, etc. in it. But, comments on the forum and my own experience with trying it on in store makes me think I would avoid wearing it because of the weight.
Alexander Wang Rocco - I like this qwirky style and every time I see one I think - I want this bag! But something in the back of my mind just doesn't see me loving to actually own it. I also worry that it would sag, droop which would drive me nuts on this style. I'd want it to keep a neat, crisp, barrel shape.
Louis Vuitton Twist Epi - Beautiful! I don't usually like LV, but I really like these bags. It's just, it's LV. In my town they seem a little...obvious. IDK. I'm trying to get over my old prejudice on this brand. But it didn't help that my friend has an LV Twist and isn't crazy about the quality.
Givenchy Antigona - I worry this (and other extended gusset bags) will be another dated "it" bag. I think I'm too far behind the trend on this one. And the closure is a little odd / inconvenient.
Dior Lady Dior - I like the smaller sizes but the opening is a little small. I also don't want to pay full retail on this bag. But the colors I want don't usually come up on the resale market in the like new condition I would want.
Chanel Boy Bag - Of all these, this is the one I'm most likely to end up buying. I like Chanel. I love the Boy. But I just haven't found...the one. Do I want pink or is that too much bag / $ for a color I won't wear regularly. Black? No. It's too special for basic black. Exotic? Yikes! That's more than I'll pay for the bag right now. So I'm caught not being able to pull the trigger.
Just want to throw out my
Prada experience for you two to consider. I have owned ten Prada handbags. Four I sold simply because I tired of the style or they weren't functional (needed larger) not because of any kind of quality issue.
I still own six Prada bags - two I bought new, four I bought resale (and had authenticated through two different services for fear of super fakes). I haven't had even one problem with them - not even with my two double zip totes which I use quite a bit. And I'm really picky with my bags and like them to look pristine. But I do use my bags. I'm careful, but I don't baby them.
So, if you really want one of these lovely bags, if encourage you to take the plunge!
