Bags I lust for, but won't buy:

1. Celine box bag - gorgeous but wayy too expensive

2. Celine nano - very cute, but a little too trendy

3. Chanel deauville tote - looks like a dream vacation bag, but it has the Chanel logo largely written on the sides

4. Hermes Birkin 25 - stunning bag with excellent craftsmanship, but way too expensive and doesn't fit in my casual lifestyle

I've got a bunch! The main reason is because I'm a student who took out loans.

YSL Sac Du Jour - LOVED this bag when I tried it on in the boutique! maybe when I'm a real doctor. The bag is understated but it very much says "I've made it" :graucho::p

Louis Vuitton Montaigne BB - the logos are too much as a student, even though the bag is so cute! The price also makes me hesitate.

Chanel jumbo in black caviar - I saw someone's OOTD with it and it just took my breath away. What a beautiful bag!

Chanel WOC in red caviar, Chanel vintage mini flap with gold....I've been spending too much time in the Chanel forum.

Great thread!

I have a couple: The Louis Vuitton Sofia Coppola bag. Love the look, the vibe, the quality of the leather, but the shoulder strap kills it for me. It's too short and not adjustable. Why on earth they didn't make a duffle that could be worn cross-body -- or even with a strap that could be adjusted for length for different body types -- is beyond me.

The other one that comes to mind is the Givenchy Pandora. Love the look and it's one of the few truly innovative bags to come out in recent years. But somehow it's just not "me." Love it on others, appreciate the design, but somehow, on me it just doesn't look right.

Exactly my situation!! What a coincidence [emoji52]. Every time I see a gorgeous picture of either the Pandora or SC, my heart skips a beat and then I have to remind myself that both bags do not work for me [emoji53]

Fun thread!

I am dying to have a Speedy 25 but I don't like LVMH so I can't buy one new. I'd love a vintage one from before the company's corporate days but it's quite hard to find in any decent shape.

Also the Chanel Boys, very pretty but too many complaints about quality, too expensive for what they are, etc.

And a shoe bonus: I love the Valentino Rockstuds but I know they'll be off-trend before long, plus hearing about quality issues there too.

Just want to throw out my Prada experience for you two to consider. I have owned ten Prada handbags. Four I sold simply because I tired of the style or they weren't functional (needed larger) not because of any kind of quality issue.

I still own six Prada bags - two I bought new, four I bought resale (and had authenticated through two different services for fear of super fakes). I haven't had even one problem with them - not even with my two double zip totes which I use quite a bit. And I'm really picky with my bags and like them to look pristine. But I do use my bags. I'm careful, but I don't baby them.

So, if you really want one of these lovely bags, if encourage you to take the plunge!

Thanks. Maybe one day I'll do more than just gaze dreamily at the bags online?

Great Thread Idea!

Yes. For me there are a quite a few beautiful bags that I just don't think I'll ever make mine.

• Gucci Dionysis Laser Cut Satchel. I saw this in person and its TDF! I came a hair's breadth from buying it. But it's a bit...much. I can't see me wearing it a lot for the cost, I think it would be too memorable, and I think it may look dated in just a few years (oh that's sooo 2015. LOL!)

• Saint Lauren Sac du Jour - Gosh, I crave this bag. But, it's so heavy. I would use this as a workhorse bag in a medium and put my wallet, iPad, etc. in it. But, comments on the forum and my own experience with trying it on in store makes me think I would avoid wearing it because of the weight.

• Alexander Wang Rocco - I like this qwirky style and every time I see one I think - I want this bag! But something in the back of my mind just doesn't see me loving to actually own it. I also worry that it would sag, droop which would drive me nuts on this style. I'd want it to keep a neat, crisp, barrel shape.

• Louis Vuitton Twist Epi - Beautiful! I don't usually like LV, but I really like these bags. It's just, it's LV. In my town they seem a little...obvious. IDK. I'm trying to get over my old prejudice on this brand. But it didn't help that my friend has an LV Twist and isn't crazy about the quality.

• Givenchy Antigona - I worry this (and other extended gusset bags) will be another dated "it" bag. I think I'm too far behind the trend on this one. And the closure is a little odd / inconvenient.

• Dior Lady Dior - I like the smaller sizes but the opening is a little small. I also don't want to pay full retail on this bag. But the colors I want don't usually come up on the resale market in the like new condition I would want.

• Chanel Boy Bag - Of all these, this is the one I'm most likely to end up buying. I like Chanel. I love the Boy. But I just haven't found...the one. Do I want pink or is that too much bag / $ for a color I won't wear regularly. Black? No. It's too special for basic black. Exotic? Yikes! That's more than I'll pay for the bag right now. So I'm caught not being able to pull the trigger.

Thank you! Good to hear about your positive experience with Prada!

Def filed under that heading

1. Celine Luggage - the time has been and gone

2. H Birkin - I wanted one while I was a teen but they are everywhere , I literally sighed when asked if I wanted one but I'd never use it. The right time would have been more than 10 years ago

3. Peek-a-boo. When Fendi get it right, they really do but although I identify with the bag itself I don't fit with the people who tend to own them

4 & 5 I love both Celine Box and H Constance - I just keep seeing my mother (who actually had a H Constance)

Interesting comment and I think I know exactly what you mean ... I feel this way about a lot of LV, especially the monogram. Nothing against the brand, I just have always felt a lot of the people who wear them have a vibe that is just not me.

Diorissimo - it's just too plain inside, like a giant cavern. I love the bag, it looks beautiful but I know it would annoy me IRL

Oh you can add the Duorissimo to my list. I've tried it poss 100 tines and I can't make it work. The handles, the Dior charm (i actually have a black /gold charn sans sac) or the colours so far??? It just will not work. My version of the tote will have to be the Hermes GP, softer, simpler, lighter and "chuck-around".

When I read my own comment it sounded perhaps mean, glad you understand I didn't mean it that way
