I love, love love the Hermes Kelly but just can't pull the trigger and spend that much on one handbag when there are so many others I want. :smile1: I like to have a variety of handbags to choose from.

Celine Phantom - WAYYYYYYYY TOO MANY PPL HAVE THIS BAG!! too trendy. and I wear my bags for YEARS [literally, I never sell them] and breaking this bag out, in probably about 2 years, will look "so two years ago" I prefer lesser known bags that haven't supersaturated the market. I just strongly prefer to have bags that everyone else on the street won't have. However, I will likely still get the Tie Tote eventually, a bit less saturated.

Hermes Kelly / Birkin - I am all about paying for quality yada yada yada, however, can't justify paying $20k+ for one bag. Hopefully I'll receive them as a gift [not from DH] one day, but personally, just can't shell out that much, already hard to justify the four figures I already do shell out. Also, like PaperTiger said, they are EVERYWHERE now. part of what ppl paid for previously was exclusivity, so while it's not like the Phantom, definitely will see several of them pretty much wherever u go.

Great Thread Idea!

Yes. For me there are a quite a few beautiful bags that I just don't think I'll ever make mine.

• Gucci Dionysis Laser Cut Satchel. I saw this in person and its TDF! I came a hair's breadth from buying it. But it's a bit...much. I can't see me wearing it a lot for the cost, I think it would be too memorable, and I think it may look dated in just a few years (oh that's sooo 2015. LOL!)

• Saint Lauren Sac du Jour - Gosh, I crave this bag. But, it's so heavy. I would use this as a workhorse bag in a medium and put my wallet, iPad, etc. in it. But, comments on the forum and my own experience with trying it on in store makes me think I would avoid wearing it because of the weight.

• Alexander Wang Rocco - I like this qwirky style and every time I see one I think - I want this bag! But something in the back of my mind just doesn't see me loving to actually own it. I also worry that it would sag, droop which would drive me nuts on this style. I'd want it to keep a neat, crisp, barrel shape.

• Louis Vuitton Twist Epi - Beautiful! I don't usually like LV, but I really like these bags. It's just, it's LV. In my town they seem a little...obvious. IDK. I'm trying to get over my old prejudice on this brand. But it didn't help that my friend has an LV Twist and isn't crazy about the quality.

• Givenchy Antigona - I worry this (and other extended gusset bags) will be another dated "it" bag. I think I'm too far behind the trend on this one. And the closure is a little odd / inconvenient.

• Dior Lady Dior - I like the smaller sizes but the opening is a little small. I also don't want to pay full retail on this bag. But the colors I want don't usually come up on the resale market in the like new condition I would want.

• Chanel Boy Bag - Of all these, this is the one I'm most likely to end up buying. I like Chanel. I love the Boy. But I just haven't found...the one. Do I want pink or is that too much bag / $ for a color I won't wear regularly. Black? No. It's too special for basic black. Exotic? Yikes! That's more than I'll pay for the bag right now. So I'm caught not being able to pull the trigger.

I lust after Prada handbags, but I have heard too many horror stories about Prada's quality and poor Customer Services.

Prada Saffiano Tote - Almost bought this a couple of times over the past three years, but accounts of poor quality stopped me going ahead. I still go to the website to look at photos of these bags though

Just want to throw out my Prada experience for you two to consider. I have owned ten Prada handbags. Four I sold simply because I tired of the style or they weren't functional (needed larger) not because of any kind of quality issue.

I still own six Prada bags - two I bought new, four I bought resale (and had authenticated through two different services for fear of super fakes). I haven't had even one problem with them - not even with my two double zip totes which I use quite a bit. And I'm really picky with my bags and like them to look pristine. But I do use my bags. I'm careful, but I don't baby them.

So, if you really want one of these lovely bags, if encourage you to take the plunge!

And I need a better grade of friends if I'm ever going to get a Kelly as a gift. LOL!!!!!

+1 there's an LV bag I really like [except the big ignorant cold "LV" at the closure...it's VERY big and ignorant] I think it's called the cappuccino bag...or something along those lines, but first and foremost it's LV, and it's so hard to move past this fact...and even if I did, the $6000 price tag does not match the look of the bag, not exotic skin, nice bag, but not tdf, nothing special, or unique you won't see anywhere else.

hahaha me too, definitely not friends, was hoping more work, raffle...RANDOM ACT OF GOD hahaha. Unfortunately I can't include the Gates', Jay-Z/Beyonce, Warren Buffet, nor the Koch brothers among my friends :-( I however would love to be in those circles hahahaha

+1. OMG! Once again, we agree!! I like this LV bag too but those doggone LV's...ugh. I feel silly on this because I love and own a couple Gucci Sohos with their humungo GG's. LOL! But the LV's on the Twist and Cappucino make me say no.

kindred souls, we're always on the same page. and yeah, I think it's something about the embossed/same color that makes it better, hell I even have mono Gucci / Siggy Dooney bags though hahaha.

LV Capucine - I can't justify spending that much for LV

absolutely not. that's a $3500 bag at most imo

Hermes leather Kelly and Birkin range from $9K-$12K new from the boutique, not 20K.

I think it also depends on the area where you live, Hermes anything is still a rare sighting for me and I live in a major metro city in the NE. Perhaps in NY and on the West Coast or in parts of Europe they are more abundant but I own both bags and never feel like I see them coming and going.

+1. I also don't like that it's not leather inside for that price. At that price, I'd rather have the much disliked LV Capucines. At least there's colors I like and it's a nice supple leather.

Chanel Boy Bag, I love so many of the seasonal versions of this bag but cannot fathom the price of them new in store. For the same investment I can get a pre-loved or vintage Hermes which suits my lifestyle much more than a heavy chain bag with fabric lining.

Givenchy Pandora Box, I love this bag but it's Kardashian association and the fact that I have several small, cross body bags already will likely prevent me from owning one.

LV Petite Malle, I love the homage to the trunk design but it's so tiny and so pricey for something I would seldom use. Yesterday I looked at a black alligator version for 35K, for a bag that I couldn't fit my phone in.

Fendi Peekaboo, I love these in exotics but now that I got my dream Kelly, I can't see ever buying another handle bag with a shoulder strap.

1. Celine phantom luggage: I love the look of the bag but cannot bring myself to buy something so big (I have also heard it gets heavy) with no shoulder strap. I love how it looks on other people though!! It would be an amazing carryall.

2. Hermes Kelly: I love the retourne style (looks a bit softer and more relaxed) but of course price is my main concern on this one. I have seen some on Fashionphile for under $9K and I will keep my eyes peeled.

Celine box: love it but just can't get over the price. Especially since I've heard Celine's service is a bit hit and miss.

Gucci soho disco: cute but I'm unsure about the giant logo as I'm not into obvious branding. On the other hand though, I've seen similar logo-less styles in other brands but they look a bit plain without the giant G's, as though something is missing.

Fendi 3jours: love this style but I worry that the trapeze shape will soon look dated.

I fell in love with the Chanel woc and mini. Being that I would have to travel out of state to get to a store, I waited to see the bag in person when I went on vacay. The bags didn't feel or look as luxurious as I imagined it to be. I was disappointed.

I won't bother to list bags I lust after but couldn't bring myself to buy because of price issue...because the list will b too long. So here r few bags I can afford but didn't buy because:-
1) they just doesn't look good on me after I tried
2) Way too heavy for my preferences
3) No shoulder/Crossbody strap so don't fit into my lifestyle!

- Celine Trapeze: looks weird on me but so beautiful on others
- Pashli Med: too heavy
- A Wang Rockie: too heavy
- Mulberry Willow Tote: open tote
- LV Metis Hobo: open tote
- LV Daily Organizer: nice design but too big
- LV Bastille: too similar to my bal bags
- LV Nono range - cute but not practical for me plus non detachable strap is not good!
- LV Trevi: heard it's very heavy
- LV Bergamo: Too boxy on me but nice on others

I have more bags on my wishlist I couldn't order online because I need to try on bags b4 I buy but those stores r not available in my country [emoji17]
