lolol, the first time I saw it I got scurred :shocked::shocked::shocked:

oh I hope you didn't take it as me being snarky...hell I just didn't know. I seriously meant thank you for giving us that perspective. We have to remember most of these brands were founded 100+ years ago [or nearly 100] so times were very different back then.

AGREED on all!

I hate it, I also hate the Chanel CC that is just as big, the HUGE LV on many of their leather bags, and the LV/GG/CC mono bags. I just hate obviously branded bags on ALL brands. *gag*

LV bags annoy me lol. I do like their uhhhh cappuccino bag I believe it's called, but that huge gaudy LV is annoying. I don't think they have a bag that is not largely and gaudily LV branded. I HATE that. and from LV owners, it seems like their quality has significantly decreased over the years, while their prices have had dramatic increases. such a shame for LV consumers.

Nope. Not snarky at all [emoji3]
I didn’t even realize how long my post had gotten.
I am loving reading this thread.
So many ladies have the same ideas I do.
2 biggest things I don’t get: bags shaped like food or animals and premier designer vegan bags.
2K for plastic? Um, no.

Really? I'm considering a vintage bucket, but scared of future sticky... care to share your fix? Do you know if sealing a non-sticky would prevent?
I don't think you can prevent it, but again, don't be put off by it. I learned off these forums and also youtube. This is a pic of one of my vintage LV's. and shows how it will look after, some 100% acetone nail polish remover will turn all that black tar-like gunk into cloth, like magic. There is a nice layer of brown cloth under the LV canvas. Look on the LV forums for rehab threads, there are many.

before, will eventually turn black and sticky.

after some nail remover, it turns to cloth and can be used

Types of bags I don't get:
- Heavy bags that weigh so much empty you can't really put much in them without severe arm/shoulder ache as a consequence
- Thick chain straps. See above. Also, too loud and clunky
- Really thick saffiano as material, especially for SLGs
- Large bags that have no base (as in, the sides come together at the bottom and there's nothing in between) - a big bag with minimal space and not much chance of keeping the bag organised
These are the things I don't get, so I don't buy them. I have owned a piece out of each category and learned my lesson.

I can understand the love most people have for their specific bag or brand. I am not an LV girl but get the appeal and usability. Wouldn't buy gucci either but understand why people are falling over themselves for the flash, changing novel designs.

I only have a few don't get it bags but my main one is the Hermes picontin. I just don't understand it and I don't think it's nice to look at.

Open top totes are an instant NO from me. I definitely don't get those, no matter how pretty. One tip and everything falls out. And helloooooo pickpocketers!
ARGH! The tip over factor is exactly why I hate open top totes. I'm looking for a tote and have given up on a fully zip tote so I'm looking for one with a zip center section. They are harder than you'd think to find. But I have to have some security and fewer worries with

Plastic and velvet handbags I dont get.

This bag is a confused mess. LOL!
Here are some of my "don't get it" bags:

- See through plastic bags, like the Furla candy. I get that it's cute, and would be fun to carry around, but I sure as heck don't want the entire world seeing the contents of my bag!

- Denim bags. Now I have an old one that I've worn in high school, but I don't think I can purchase one again, especially with a jeans outfit. I think a nice leather bag can dress you up, like a nice pair of leather heels!

- Agreed with the Goyard print comment, it's not my style.

- The Gucci graffiti looking bags. I own a few Gucci pieces but I can't see myself buying one with a graffiti like print on it!

- Same goes with LV's painting collection. Granted it's not graffiti, but... yeah.
+10,000 on plastic bags. I also get frustrated because so many beach totes are plastic. Just no! Why would I want all my contents on display. Plus it's just visually messy.
- Fur monsters and plain fur poofs as bag charms. Sorry, but what is this about? It feels like the fashion industry’s attempt to make it OK for grown women to carry tiny stuffed animals with them. Sorry, I just can’t.

- Totally agree with the person who said No to handles that won’t fold down. I don’t need to be poked in the ribs by my bag!

- Gucci logo = Cover Girl logo. Now that I’ve seen it, I can’t unsee it.

- The LV collection that looks like artist prints on canvas bags. They look like the totes you’d buy as a souvenir in a museum store. Not expensive looking, or particularly pretty, IMO.

Also, though, a few things I thought I hated and changed my mind:

- Longchamp le Pliage. Soooooo common where I live, as well as plain and shapeless. But also, lightweight, inexpensive, comfortable shoulder handles, and a myriad of colors to choose from. I’ll take a few of them over spending $$$ on the LV Neverfull anyday (and I do get the appeal of the Neverfull. I just don’t want one.).

- Givenchy Pandora. Stock photos always make it look like a box. Finally tried one and loved it, bought it, and returned it two days later because it weighed a ton. But I do get the appeal. It’s a very unique design.

- Hermes Evelyne. Again, I HATED this bag. Hated the look, especially the perforated H. Then I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about and tried one on. I was converted! It’s such a practical, easy bag, in scrumptious leather and the world’s most comfortable canvas strap. I love it (and wear the perforated H against my body so it’s pretty under the radar).
Yes! I'm so tired of seeing toys dangling from adult women's' bags. LOL! If the bag isn't beautiful without a stuffed animal or a dohicky, please buy another bag!
I also don't get LV epi leather (though I know many adore it). I realize it's coated to be weather resistant (yay), but my hands are used to to high quality saddle leathers and epi just feels too plastic-y and the embossed texture does not appeal. Crazy, 'cuz I love patent which is also coated leather and croc embossed (just different). Glad bag manufacturers indulge all our varying tastes!
I'll add Chanel caviar and Prada Saffiano to the discussion on materials we struggle with. I have both caviar and saffiano bags and they just feel plastic-y. But they are really good for bad weather. Wish there was a middle ground of good handfeel and super durable.

Haha! I hate large logos on bags. Especially mono / logo canvas. But, I make my (hypocritical) excuses for my Chanel CC's and the one LV bag I own with a big logo.

I guess I hate large logos...until I like them.

Clear plastic bags are a “thing” because of security at many sports stadiums.
I have one for college football games, but I would never pay 2K for one.
Same with vegan.

funny thread:) ..
I also don’t get these bags:
Neverfull: I‘ve never considered it but recently I was almost considering it but then I didn’t want to have it as it’s such a big open bag .. I‘m also not drawn to it.. I get why so many like itbut for me it’s nothing special.. I got the jersey instead which I like more..
pochette metis.. I was also considering once this bag but every time I saw it I was also not drawn to it.. for me it’s not practical enough and I don’t know when I should use suche a bag .. it also reminds me of a briefcase..
any hermes bag except the kelly and the birkin.. I don’t like any hermes bag[emoji23] It’s not my style and the other two popular bags are too expensive for me to consider but anyway I’m also not so drawn to it and I’m happy with it:)
I also don’t like the Lv collaboration bags with the paintings (mona lisa etc) and supreme.. really don’t get it
longchamp , o bags : not my style
some newer LV bags which have a weird shape like the pettit malle, pettit boote, bento box and any lv bag with printed comics or something like kapuki[emoji1]

In the past I thought I would never buy a LV bag because I didn’t like them at first but as soon as I went to LV the first time I changed my mind and now I love LV.. It is not only because of the bags but I also feel that they providesuch a great service (inVienna) so that I can justify to buy there my bags :) I also never thought I would buy more than one bag in the same pattern but I did haha LV gets so addictive and they have so many beautiful bags so that I need more than one bag in the same pattern but different style
I also didn’t like the speedy b25 first and then I started to love her
so I change often my opinion about bags as soon as I seethem in reality :) that’s why I don’t feel offended by any comment about my bag collection haha I can understand any comment as I thought the same before I started with LV :) I think you will also get it why these bags are so popular when you start loving them or when the time comes that you need exactly this bag ( for example the neverfull could be practical with kids/toddlers but now I would never consider it )

ok everytime I see a grown woman with a toy hanging from the bag I'm like...okaaaay, well hey, economy boost? but yes THAT is exactly how I feel.

as much trash as I talk about LV/Gucci/MK and their mono/logos I have SO MANY signature Dooney bags, so I'm the same, I hate it until I love it lolol

Animal print
Bags with fur or hair
Fendi Micro Peekaboo - what can fit in them? Or are they meant to be bag charms?

For Bags I like that most don't get: the Givenchy Pandora.

I didn’t get the Pandora until I saw someone carrying it. I probably made a fool of myself asking her questions about it. It was a small size and it looked good on her. It wasn’t sticking out like a box. It was relaxed and laid nicely on her hip. It had always looked like a box to me until that day. It’s on my “want list” now.
