Fun thread!

I’m a Chloe and YSL girl through and through! Many of the styles these brands come out with really speak to me.

I am not a Chanel girl, have tried several times to be one but it’s just not me. I am also not a LV girl because I cannot stand that their logo is all over so many of their bags and they are everywhere.

In terms of bag style, that’s changing. I used to be strictly a top handle bag kind of girl with a small crossbody for weekends but lately I’ve been gravitating more toward shoulder carry totes. Think I’m carrying too much junk and need to lighten my daily load and dust off my top handle beauties

I’m more of a minimalist and like bags that are more discreet.

Bags that are really me right now:

Hermès Halzan and Garden Party

Céline Trio, Box and Cabas belt bag

Chanel So Black Chevron reissue
Chanel So Black Reissue WoC

Givenchy Antigona

Jerome Dreyfuss Black python tote

Bags that aren’t me

Anything with highly visible logos (Sorry LV and Gucci).

I like some Prada styles and would probably get a nylon backpack but the logo is too much.

Not really into bags with patterns

After years of trying to find my “look”, I can say with confidence I am a Celine girl (old Celine, Philo era). The bags never spoke to me until I went into the boutique and tried them on. It was a lightbulb moment where I felt like those bags were made for my look.

I like bags that are minimal, elegant, but with a tad of flare to give it style.

I’m open to many brands because I believe one brand has a lot to offer. My Gucci disco is all black, my Chanel is a seasonal chevron which makes it modern, and for some reason I adore my LV monogram never full even though I don’t really like enormous logo brands!

I think we all have a “look” but sometimes a particular bag will surprise you and that’s part of the fun of it.

With that said, I am “not” loud and showy (I.e many Gucci pieces) and I am also pretty casual which rules out a lot of Chanel pieces.

It’s hard for me to say “this is me,” or “this is not me” in terms of brands, because there are a lot of brands where I only like one or two of their styles. I’ll say I am an Hermes girl because I love the scarves and bracelets as well as the bags, but when it comes to H bags, I really only like the Kelly and Evelyne. I am not an LV girl, I but love love love my Empreinte Speedy.

I tend to go for understated bags with high quality leather. You’d think given those parameters that I’d be a Céline girl, but I have yet to find a Céline style that works for me. I love Chanel but only have Reissues and one tote bag. I love BV’s quality but many of the styles don’t work for me. I need a bag to have some structure and not be a bottomless pit.

After years of buying satchels/top handles with a strap and crossbodies, I now find myself gravitating back to shoulder totes. Every time I try to become a small bag girl, it doesn’t last. There’s just something appealing about a bag that is large enough that you can just sling over your shoulder and go!

I love me a structure bag, lady like bag. If it has a crosabody strap, that's a plus. Nothing to big because I'm tiny (5'1 and a size 2). My Favorite Brands are
1. Coach ❤❤❤
2. Longchamp
3. Cambridge Satchel Company
4. Dooney & Bourke
5. Mansur Gavriel
*Im picky about LV but I love a few styles

What's definitely not me
1. Gucci- its just a bit much for me
2. Saint Laurent- idk how many bag styles are out there because they all look alike to me
3. Hermes - i cannot buy into the hype.

Fun game!

I love slouchy, distressed leathers - edgy but still classic. Crossbody option always. I tend to gravitate towards bigger bags bc I like being hands-free.

My closet is mainly Chanel reissues, Chanel fanny packs, Bal velos, Givenchy Pandora’s. I fell in love with the Prada etiquette line and have several of the larger sized flaps and a ginormous tote in amazing glazed, distressed leather that has a xbody strap. Also love Hermes Clemence and have an Evie and Halzan that are me when I am trying to feel more grown-up.

Not me: small and structured bags (sorryChanel minaudieres), see thru bags of any brand, major branding/logos, lv, B/K’s (unless I get a xbody strap for K but still worry about it being too structured).

Hmm, I only have a few designer hand bags... A Gucci Dionysus WOC, that I use every day, I love the Dionysus line, but I dislike most of the other stuff Gucci has to offer. Marmot for example is really not my thing. I dream about buying a Chanel though, both a medium tweed and a WOC, and some other ones too, the mini rectangle for example, one from them will probably be my next bag! Can I be a Dionysus girl instead of a Gucci girl? I do like wine!

I also have a Chloé hudson bag, but I cannot say that I am more than just occasionally a Chloé girl, I bought mine for the summer moments when I feel like being a whimsical boho chic type of girl. I have not even got a chance to wear it yet, but I still love it. There are a lot of Chloé styles that I would never wear though.

I also am also about to have a Céline belt bag delivered TOMORROW!!! This has been my dream bag for oooh so long, and I've been saving up for it forever. And there are also more than a few other styles at Céline (obs, not Celine) that I am in love with that I could possibly label myself a Céline girl without feeling weird about it. My next wish from there would be a nano luggage tote, or a Phantom luggage!

I am also in love with the Kelly and the Birkin from Hermes, unfortunately, they are way out of my student budget, but I cannot overcome how beautiful designed they both look to me! I might need to have them both in the future.

Dior speaks to me a lot, but I am not sure they "match" me? I've tried some on and I'd love for them to look as good on me as they do without me, lol, but they tend to look a bit costumey on me? Like I am playing dress up? Especially the Lady Dior.

I cannot decide what I feel about LV, my dream bag 10 years ago was the Neverfull in Damier Ebene, I will probably get that one or the Damier Azur, just to make my 18 year old me's dream come true! And they also seem awfully practical and carefree! I also love the Capucines bag! I just wish the LV in the front wasn't as big as it is! Or that it wasn't there at all!

So, what am I...? Haha

Not me,
Structured, small, classy, anything lady like.
I love nice leather, big bags with some edge. Great leather is key, like older Linea Pelle and Kooba.

Great thread!
I like minimalist bags...no heavy hardware, or wild patterns. Also, like traditional shapes...i.e, not a Loewe fan.
Love Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Gucci (Disco) and old Coach with the soft supple leather. For some reason, really into brown bags right now. Don't like satchels, and especially don't like satchels worn crossbody. Love a small-ish tote, shoulder bag or a true crossbody like Disco. Hate the look of a big bag worn crossbody...not sure why it annoys me so much:)

I also don't like big bags worn crossbody. Also, I can't understand why that isn't killing the shoulder of the person carrying it. I can only handle small bags carried crossbody, usually they have a skinny strap that would dig in with a heavy bag. Some satchels are very pretty hand carried, and then look all misshapen when worn crossbody. The handles don't look right, whether they stand up or fold down.

Just remembered I had similar conversation with a girlfriend months ago. She's quite surprised that I like Céline because she thought of me as a Dior gal. Wonder what makes her think so

So I'm just gonna go with that for brands, but shape wise I'm more fond of a backpack, crossbody and clutch.
Bags that totally not me are satchels, traditional east-west totebags and shoulder bags.

Winners:
Anything black or grey with silver hardware
slouchy leather
Grommets, studs
Guitar straps with studs or grommets
Big bags
Black hole bags.
Wide straps
Straps that are long enough for my plus size body..I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to find a cute bag but it doesn’t fit my arm properly.

Losers:
Floral anything!
Pastel colors
Character bags (Coach has some out and I think they’re ugly)
Short shoulder straps
Divided sections inside bag
Saffiano leather
Anything structured
Boxy bags.

I’m a Dior girl as well. I like classic Dior, the cannage, the architectural lines, ladylike style. I don’t like the current designer despite the feminist messaging. The bags are just not doing it.

I won’t say no to a Gucci or a Chanel if you offered me one. Or a Céline Box. Or a Givenchy Antigona. I quite like the Mulberry bags. No urge to buy any of these brands though.

I like Coach bags from the late 2000s with the glovetanned leather and clean, simple shapes like the Kristin and the Legacy Duffle. I applaud the current designer for turning them around but the heavy-feeling maximalist aesthetic doesn’t appeal to me.

I also have a soft spot for Furla. I always have a great time browsing their collection and the Furla SAs, for some reason, are amazing.

I’m sad Massaccesi is closing down. It was such a dream to be able to customize the perfect bags with Marco, down to the lining and the number of slip pockets.

I would say I am a dior and kate spade girl. I like feminine, glamorous, structured bag or semi-structured bag that isnt oversaturated. I prefer Dior but Kate Spade makes some great bags too like my rose gold crossbody.

I like chanel but I dont know if I like them enough to pay over 5k for one of them.

I tried to be an LV girl in damier azure but none of the current styles excite me and the large LV bags feel to logoey and saturated in my area.

I think I could be a gucci girl once the right style comes out.

Drooled over some chloe bags like the small or medium marcie in abstract white. Love it but not sure if its too trendy. Also not sure how high maintenance the abstract white color is.
