bags are scarce but I am seriously doubtful there are no more bags for this year. I am guessing some sas are telling some clients there are no more bags for them bc the client hasn’t spent enough or the client already got a bag or the sa is tired of being asked that question by the client. my own sa is telling me bags are available and there are no stock issues. I have seen and heard about bag offers at my boutique which is known to be incredibly hard to get offers. I think if an sa is saying there are no bags then it’s probably a good idea to stop asking and be patient but I’m guessing with the high demand it’ll be a while so maybe it is better for those who need instant gratification to go elsewhere.

I agree with this. Its really hard to believe no bags for potentially all of US until next year.

We had to go to the boutique to send one of the wife’s bags off to NYC for repair. During that, I commented on the lack of bags on the shelves and our SA opened up to us and said “I originally thought that this was just going to be the same things we are told to tell clients about scarcity, but this is very different this year. Last week we had a RTW event and we were specifically told to tell our clients that there are no bags in stock, so if a client spent $30k on RTW, to not expect an offer of a quota bag. That wall has equestrian bags, this wall has a couple brief cases, and this is our one bag left in store. This yellow Evelyne. It’s really bad and I feel horrible that my clients ask me and my constantly having to apologize.”

This isn’t the normal Hermes game.

i take back what I said above. There are no bags. I’m sad to say that my initial statements from earlier this year that I didn’t anticipate being offered a quota bag this year have come true. I cannot help but be incredibly frustrated at H for prioritizing new clients and for not planning appropriately. I understand they wanted to bring in new clients with offers but not all new clients are going to be loyal clients. In fact, it seems many just are after a bag after reading these forums. I know I speak for other loyal clients who are not vip but spend consistently who feel that Hermes has cast us aside and we feel forgotten. No we don’t just shop H for bags but having these offers is a way for H to show their appreciation. I’ve also talked to enough loyal clients who have been fed up with the treatment that they’ve decided to take a long or permanent hiatus from H.

It is so sad to see empty shelves and SAs have nothing to sell.

H boutiques are not lively on the weekends like usual. SIGH!!

I’ve still not been able to find a PlayStation 5 at retail and a lot of the video games I’ve been looking forward to have been delayed multiple times! The pandemic has hit many areas, way more than just Hermes, and we know Hermes shut down their workshops for a while, and we have seen how people have been itching to buy once the stores reopened. We’ve got plenty reports of empty shelves and not just bags (homeware selection has been very sad at my own store). Very logical to believe that Hermes has been impacted, whether it’s issues with bag production or shipping logistics or sales KPI considerations or whatever else. The slightly more unique problem at Hermes is, like @acrowcounted said in another thread, that H has been using the “sorry we have no bags” excuse as a way of asking for spend in other categories before a bag offer, and people have learned to not believe it…

Also I assume it’s not like they are going to have literally zero bags; more so it’s things are significantly impacted / reduced but as always with H we will have exceptions. They would likely still give some bags to some customers as they see fit, and then in the age of (over)sharing on social media people will find out and proceed to get mad. I got a friend who is a long time customer who has been asked for the first time to not post about her latest bag, at least not with identifiable information of her store, on social media (by the way I think that is actually a very hard thing to do, people really underestimate how much info can be found out, as well as just how many people are going to do that).

Very sad to hear that, and totally understand what you mean. On the other hand, I feel like nobody knew how things were going to be so they couldn’t have planned ahead perfectly. Lots of things have been fluid and changing throughout; policies such as whether bags can be shipped for example were literally changing day to day at some stores…and my SA was genuinely surprised by the amount of new customers and increased sales she saw once things re-opened. The phrase “unprecedented times” has been overused by now but really that’s very true for what this whole pandemic has been. At this stage, being patient and hoping for things to improve is probably the best thing one can do. And of course, take a break if you feel like it!

Hi, may I ask if the loyal clients you mentioned are dropping at least 1:1 for a bag?

I hope I don’t come across as rude. But I would like to assume think that if loyal clients are also spending as much as new clients, then no reason not to offer bags. Unless the spending of new clients is more “valuable” than the same spending of loyal clients.

Hello Justlikewhatilike, actually spending at least 1:1 in hope for being offered a bag is fairly common nowadays. There are both new clients and long-time clients doing the same thing.

In this forum, there were some posts which the loyal H clients mentioned spending at least 1.5 - 2 : 1 , but couldn't get a bag this year. I think that's why it frustrated some long-time clients who have hope to get a bag this year.

If a new client spends at least 3x of the bag price in non-leather categories (in RTW, fine jewelry, homeware, etc.), then it's logical to think that the new client will get priority in quota bag offering...

However, for very desirable color/size of quota bags (B/K), some long-time clients still need to spend at least 3x of the bag price and wait for a fairly long time, which 1 year+ is not unheard of. (e.g. mini K in noir color, in regular/exotic leather).

Yes I agree. However, some old time clients still thinks that there is no need for pre spend up to certain amounts to be offered a bag based on their prior experiences of Low purchase history or no purchase history.

If the loyal clients are as competitive as new clients, no reason not to be offered bags of their choice.

These loyal clients are spending minimum 1-1 some up to 4-1 and still no offer this year. I understand that if new clients are spending significantly more they should get priority.

Perhaps it’s smoke and mirrors with people sharing on fb or ig or YouTube but new clients seem to be forthcoming of their spend and they’re getting bag offers on neutrals with little spend. i know one woman at a boutique who got a b30 gold on gold this year with just a 1:1 spend. That was a bit shocking given which boutique. Here is another example but there are plenty others on YouTube.

Maybe her relationship with the SA and the store won over pre-spending. Happy for her. Do you know what store she shops from?

I personally don't believe all of the IG or YouTube stories. I think many buy from resellers but tell a fairytale of receiving an offer from the store as a new customer. Many make money off living an unattainable life, a little white lie about where their H bag came just adds to their brand.
…and many of the bags aren’t even authentic…
