Bag Limits at Different Boutiques

Yes, for leather bags, I think it's one bag per passport per store visit. (Both France and Italy.) I couldn't believe they were counting Evelyne and GP too.....

I wonder if you would be able to workaround this limitation if you were to visit several different days during the same week, providing you are staying in the city long enough to do so.

They are only concerned about birkin and kelly purchases. You can buy as much of whatever you want of any items. Except birkins and kellys. Which is one bag every six months.

audreylita, I am wondering if this is still accurate. Some others have posted that the bag limits are being applied to all leather bags. Could you kindly share the source of your info? I would be less troubled by this if, as you say, they are only restricting B and K purchases.

Japan also practice the same rule but its jan to june and jul to dec, so if you come to Japan and bought B on 30 june then you can buy another from next day onwards. How they track, well, the first K my friend bought, the SA asked us if we bought anything B or K in that 6 months b4 they process the purchase, so I guessed they dont have a foolproof system. However, we also know that they can track from CC payment record, so if you have different CC with a slightly different name, then I think its quite safe:D

I'm a bit confused--I know in the US (at least at my local boutique), it was either 1 B or 1 K in a 6-mth period, i.e. limit of 2 for the year. This rule was in effect as of Spring/Summer, but maybe the rule changed again.

Not sure if it's per calendar year, or from date of purchase. My guess is it's date of purchase, since if you bought in Dec, I don't think one is allowed to buy again in January.

Also, if it's 1 bag per passport, per store visit in Europe, can you come back another day to purchase bag #2?

Just wondering...

Upper management. It's one birkin or kelly every six months. I'm in NY and some of the posts are referring to passports. All I know is U.S. domestic. I also shop the Florida stores and all the computers are connected here in the states so it is accurately monitored throughout.

Here in the states they have everyone in the computer system by name and address. I guess if you lie about your name and address you'll be able to get around the system, but if you go back to the same store and someone recognizes you and they realize you're trying to commit fraud then you could really be asking for trouble.

A year ago I was told that they were ultimately going to have all the computer systems linked throughout the world. I don't know where they stand with this, if it's still in process or what.

One way around the limit is to buy one bag and have spouse buy a bag in their name. This way we were able to get 2 birkins in six months.

I asked about this as well and they said absolutely not. I guess if your spouse goes into the boutique and they don't know who he is then you could get away with it. But again they're going to put him into the computer and ask for his name and address. Also, the chance of someone walking in off the street and snagging a birkin or kelly is pretty slim. I wish him luck.

Someone told me stores have all your info once you pay with a credit card anyway. They might tell you their system is not international or they don't have your data (as it might not be allowed by law or that particular SA doesn't have enough rights to view all the data) but technically it is no problem to have you data from other countries.

:tup: Although it's only my guessing, but I will never dare to try though. Moreover, I have enough local friends to help me to get one by using their quota IF only I have that kind of $$ in the first place:D

I am sad because I went to a Hermes store on the east coast yesterday and asked a sa if by any chance there was a black Birkin or Kelly available. She went into the back and then came back to ask for my name. She then came back to me and said that she is sorry but since I purchased a Kelly in August I could not buy another Kelly or Birkin for a year. I said I thought the limit was one Birkin and one Kelly per year but she was very abrupt with me and told me to try again next year. Meanwhile I have only purchased one Birkin and two Kellys over the past six years. I live in a state that does not have Hermes and my only sales relationship is at Hermes where I would have to take a plane to get to and with the no shipping policy this makes it difficult. My question is should I go back to the Hermes store while I am here in town and explain that the Kelly I purchased in august was a special order that I waited two years for or should I just move on and wait until next year. Wasn't sure if the bag purchase being a special order would affect my limit. Need advice as today is my last day at this Hermes location. Appreciate any help!!
