does he have to pay for it too or could i use my cc but put it under an account for him?

I know the BF is supposed to be the one who "buys it" so he has to be with you and actually pay for bag himself...whether he can use your card is probably up to the discretion of the SA as is most of these types of things. If you're with him then obviously the SA knows it's for you so I wouldn't think it would be a huge issue but you never know.....

Please clue me in! I'm told husbands are not permitted to buy if you're a client.

That is what I meant by the way around. DH or BF can have a separate account with them and that does not count towards your quota. It all depends on if your SA or SM will let it happen.

Btw I think Constance does not count towards quota though.

If they know it is your boyfriend or husband or any other relative, they will not sell it to him. And if you sneak and have them buy it for you and they find out, you may get black listed and not be able to buy and b's or k's in the future. It's a risk and a gamble and you really have to decide if it's worth it. For me personally, it's not worth the risk.

Also, if your boyfriend walks in off the street and asks if there're any birkins in the back, what do you think the odds are that they'll actually say yes, let me show you what we have?

The stores I shop in do not readily show anything good to someone just walking in off the street. Especially with the the boutiques now requesting that you purchase an expensive piece of jewelry before you can buy a bag. I'm hearing more and more stories of people being asked to buy jewelry first, and not just from these threads.

I think you misunderstood. You do not try to sneak around or something. Everything is on the table. Your SA will tell you to have your DH/BF come get it for you if you reach your quota. I reached the quota but my SA still offered me another B. She just told me that my DH will have to come in to get it for me.

And yes I feel that they are really pushing jewelry sales now.

Agree. I'm a DH with firsthand experience. I do maintain my own account, but my SA knows 95% of my purchases have been for my wife.

I guess as long as the store manager doesn't know what your SA is doing then you're good to go.

No that is not true. My SM knows about everything. She was right there when my SA told me this. A Hermes boutique is fairly small so a SA can not hide some transactions like that. Also it can only happen if the SM approves.

Oh dear, what distressing news that more and more boutiques are asking clients to buy jewelry before "Qualifying" for a bag... Do you know if this is happening to their preexisting, loyal clients, or just the newer and less established consumers?

I was offered a kelly after purchasing some accessories from the store..

Now as a repeated customer, I told them.i would like to have a birkin or another kelly..their answer was, birkin and kelly will never be available off the shelves..I would have to put my name on wait list and my order will only be process in 2014 mid yr .

Now I question myself where on earth did they get the kelly for me if there are no bags avail

How contradicting is their answer to us..

This is definitely not true at my boutique. And there's definitely no sneaking-my SA was actually the one that suggested it. And I highly doubt she gets anything past her SM. Everything is all out in the open at my boutique.

This must be for newer, less established customers. I haven't been asked or pressured to buy any jewelry at all and I still get offered bags. I do spend a fair amount of $$ on other things though besides bags.

Likely for newer clients. I'm a long time customer and purchase from all the departments, not just leather goods.

BTW at Madison Ave they keep the best wallets in the back now as well. Only the store manager can approve if you can see it.
