Bag Insults - Ever Had One?

I'm horrified at how rude many of you have been treated. Especially the one poster with the story of some guy calling her "ugly" to her face. That is downright disgusting and classless.

I have yet to be insulted about my bag by someone. I think part of the reason is because I come off as intimidating. When confronted, I will not hesitate to call someone out and put them on the spot. It's even better in person and not over the phone or internet because then I can put my kickboxing to good use. :graucho:

I can't remember any hater comments about my bags. But just last week, I did have a guy I don't even know make rude comments about the way my face and skin look to a room full of like 20 people, most of whom I also don't know well (this was at a professional conference). He just randomly stands up and makes these comments in front of the whole group, and had to repeat himself and take it further about 4 times. I was so offended I didn't even know what to say, I turned to my friend sitting next to me and said "I wasn't aware I had a problem with my face" right in front of the guy! Then he tries to backpedal but ends up just digging himself in deeper. And believe me, he was nothing to look at, fat, balding, and middle aged so whatever. I am not saying I'm the most beautiful girl, but I'm pretty and I don't look disfigured and my skin is fine, I didn't deserve to be called out like that. So after that, I don't think a comment about my bags would even rattle me.

O.M.G this has got to be one of the rudest things i have ever hear, there cannot possibly be an excuse for this.

I've gotten the bag insult about carrying Coach. I went into Neiman Marcus while carrying a plain black leather Coach and started looking around at the bags. Two sales associates were talking and one said, "If she carries that cheap Coach crap, then you know she won't buy anything in here." And she was right. I left the store. I got something similar from a sales associate at Barney's (only that one felt the need to point out that I was too fat for the clothes in the store while insulting my bag).

WOW . are you joking?!!! And you didn't say anything?? :censor:

I would think that this would be considered harassment and should have been dealt with by the conference organizer. It is very cruel for someone to do this. It makes me wonder how low an opinion the person has of themselves or what a terrible life they must have that they could try to hurt someone else like this. I feel sorry for that person.

As for rudeness, it seems like times have changed. People are rude about parking spots, pushing their way in line, not holding doors (men and women) for the people behind them. Not saying thank you. I could go on. It is disappointing that courtesy towards others seems to be lost.

As for a bag, a dog or anything else that you have purchased - the price is your business and your business only. You don't need to tell them the price when they are trying to intimidate you, being nosy or trying to make you feel bad about your purchase. If I am asked I say - is there a reason you want to know? That usually stops it. If it is someone that is more persistent, then I would tell them that it really is none of their business and walk away.

Each person has their own situation and everyone is different. In a "perfect" world people wouldn't be so judgmental - but that is not going to happen.

Enjoy your purses, your dogs and your lives.

This girl I know once pointed to my Ferragamo satchel and said "It must be nice to have mommy and daddy pay for everything"

I responded "I've paid for every single one of my designer bags, all $19,000 or so worth, by myself. I've worked since I was 14 and I'm putting myself through law school. So yeah, I guess it would be nice to have mom and dad pay for everything"

Even if my parents bought my bags, what's the big deal?

Some people are absolutely disgraceful, it sickens me. Comments about bags are bad enough, but calling someone out in front of a group of people to purposely humiliate them... it's just disgusting. And even if there was an iota of truth in the person's statement (which I highly doubt, considering their own obvious ugliness), they have no right to say it and they should shut their mouth. Ugh.

Dhampir, beautiful response! Did she have anything to say to it? I would have loved to see that reaction!

Hahahaha she stared at me in shock and I walked away proudly carrying my purse. I even gave her a whole minute to respond... nothing.

That is so beautiful, I think I might cry...

I've been lucky, never had someone have a go at me over my bags - I don't know why but I think I give the impression of being someone who would absolutely call someone out on any type of rude behaviour. It's the only way to deal with it really...

Great response! I can't believe she would be that crass and rude. It's none of her business how you got your bags.

I have never had anyone be ugly....but they just shake their head and cant believe I spend what I do.....I have only paid full price on ONE bag....they ask what I pay and I tell most of them "you dont want to know" because I dont want to be rude and say "its none of your dayum business!'

People are just jealous. I'd rather save my paychecks and buy myself one ferragamo rather than 4-5 coach's.... that's just me. My parents have bought me Juicy purses, hahaha but I have hit the Woodbury outlet pretty hard on my own too when I was younger ;). If you're going to say something nasty then it's obvious that you're just a hater and need to get a life. That girl was unfortunate enough to be the hater. :lawl: hahahahaha

My main jabs that I get are
1. Price - everyone knows that one
2. Size - I like big bags and I'm petit - big deal.

Big bags make you look skinnier. I've noticed. I'm not very short (5'6) but I've very skinny (108), my mom always jokes and says that my really big bags (Gucci hysteria and this badgley mischka tote I use for my daily use) make me disappear and I look like I could crawl into them.
