Hi. Sorry it took so long for me to reply. No fabric tag is OK - those came a bit later, your bag is from 2013, so it's an early model. It looks authentic, the cards match and the color does look like Smoke. These small crossbody bags weren't faked quite as often as the more popular styles.

The code 004 is probably a batch code for manufacturing, we have tried to make sense of it in the past.
We look at the bag color, hardware etc when saying it's a 2012 PS1. Some colors were seasonal etc.

The PS11 could be from an earlier season without the cloth tag inside the bag.

The other bag you're talking about - no need for worrying just yet, if you're referring to the gray and blue fabric tag inside the zipper pocket, not all Proenza Schouler bags have them, perhaps your PS11 is simply an older model. Post pictures and Ellie and I will look at it.
Hi all! I took a chance on this bag because it was such a good deal. Annoyingly, the delivery person shoved it next to our trash bins outside in the rain, so I'm hoping the damage isn't too bad (it's slightly damp), and it is a little beat up from its previous owner. That said, I'm hoping it might be authentic, and know you're the people to ask about that. The inside pockets all have the beige Proenza fabric. I was unsure about when the D-ring disappeared and have only seen a smattering of this larger-ish size sans d-ring, and didn't know how replicated it may have been since it seems not to be available now (I think this is a medium, about 11" wide from the outside, but then PS sizing always confuses me). Thank you so much in advance for your expertise!

Hi! It's authentic, IMO. Hope Ellie confirms - she's but better at the style than I am. On the front of the bag, when the flap is open, are those scratches or water stains? If they're scratches, you could try to buff them out with a piece of cloth.
