E/W Stam debuts in Fall 2006, it has cream canvas lining and gold hardware. Details are so wrong, white string on the MJ tag is another red flag.

Do you suppose someone is trying to make a "switcheroo" by putting the wrong bag with that receipt? That's what it looks like to me.

Yup, it's a very common practice. There are sites that sell replicas with everything you can possibly think of -- store receipt, gift bag/box, tag with store stickers, etc.

For anyone who's looking for Stam on ebay, honestly, it is really impossible to find an authentic (even used) one for way less its retail price ($1200-$1275); some were sold over retail. Faked Stam often have red suede lining and antiqued hardware -- characteristics of Fall 05 Stam (no longer made, very in-demand); faked '06 Stam version (cream canvas lining, shiny gold hardware) is also available nowadays. Please be extremely careful.

Good luck, I hope it won't go too high -- that's only the starting bid and there are several days left.

When Moss & Lobster (seasonal/trendier colors) styles (Bowler included) were permanently marked down (stores clearing them out to make room for newer items) at Saks/NM several months ago, some members were able to get Nordstrom to honor the matched price on the Black patent Bowler as well.
It's more likely to find Moss/Lobsters styles for less on ebay though since Black's still being sold at full price.

Oh trust me bag.lover, I have NO intention of buying any bags off eBay except from a few sellers I KNOW are legit! I'm just trying to hone my eye for reference's sake. ;)

I'm to the point with all these bottom-feeding eBay scammers that I'd rather cough up full retail at Saks, Nordies, etc. and know it's the real deal. Though 50% off sales at these places certainly doesn't hurt my feelings a bit. :graucho:

Sellers who knowingly sell faked stuffs as though they are real to unknown buyers are sooooo wrong. There are so many people who get scammed by these dishonest sellers everyday. =(
