This comparison is for a fake v. authentic Juicy Couture Libra charm. Disclaimer: Both of these charms were purchased on ebay.

Also, don't forget that while there is only one authentic JC mold for any given charm, there may be more than one fake. For example, my egg with yorkie charm comparison shows two fakes!

The fake charm is on the left side in all photos.

In the above photo, the relative brassiness of the fake is apparent. You can likewise see that the "Libra" lettering on the fake is bolder.

Here is a good photo of the two charms hanging side by side. You can see that the bar from which the individual scales hang has a steeper angle on the fake. There are disparities between the hinges of the lobster clasps, and the "cups" of the scales are bigger on the fake.

The fake charm has a couple more links than its authentic counterpart, so the heart hangs lower.

In the preceding photo, there is a focus on the difference in color of the "Juicy" banner. If you have to make a snap decision on whether or not a Libra charm is authentic, this may be your smoking gun! My fake charm has no silver on it, other than the rhinestones themselves.

Sorry about the distracting reflections of my camera and I! As you may have already noticed, the setting for the rhinestones is gold on the fake. I included this photo to show that the rhinestone protrusion is not noticeably different between the two.

This photo was taken from the Nordstrom website, so you can see how an authentic charm should look with perfect lighting etc.

In sum, I would look first at the color of the banner on the heart, then the boldness of the lettering. If there is no good photo of either, you may need to rely on the brassy tone of the metal.

I just dug out mine that I bought at a JC outlet, and the photos in this auction appear identical. Also, this charm is not heavily counterfeited. Based on these observations, I believe that this charm is authentic.

This seller is one of the few that always seems to sell authentic JC charms. Unfortunately he has turned into a mega seller, and his feedback seems to indicate he's had a few problems with shipping and keeping up with the orders.

katierose - it's so very nice to hear something good about a seller. Hopefully, he'll slow down a bit and catch up with his "orders."

Thank you! I was hoping this was a good seller, since he has a few I would like. He lives really close to me and there isn't a Juicy outlet nearby. I wonder where he gets them. I love hot fudge sundaes; I was surprised there wasn't more bidding.

Does anyone have this JC LE 2008 White Ice Skate charm, which was sold at Neiman Marcus? If so, please help authenticate one of these- I can't find any gold standard online photos for it, or any photos that answer all of the questions that I have. The only photos I found on the NM website are of the ice skate in pink.

I have put it next to another one I have. The reason I bought the second one is that I believe the shoelace is broken on the first. I am not overly concerned about the color difference, as I know the white paint that JC uses can yellow over time.

Here are some specifics that bother me:

1) The skate blade itself is a different shape.
2) The crest at the back is a different shape.
3) If you look down into the opening of the shoes, one of them is filled, and the other has a hole.

So, is the yellowish charm the fake? Does the whitish charm in fact have a broken shoelace?

I am aware that there is a break in the jump ring on the yellowish charm.

Thanks in advance

The whiter skate is the authentic charm, and yes the lace should be tied in a bow.
