Thanks to both of you and hope you had a good holiday! I know nothing about watches and for my first Rolex, it looks like I either go through retail stores, or I really need to start to learn about it. I heard from a friend that, when you buy a watch like Rolex, from store, it barely holds its value since the markup is too high. But if you buy second hand, the price is pretty much stabilized, in case you decide to sell, you won't lose much. Is that true?
Yes, it's true. It's also true of luxury branded jewellery! That's why I work in this business, people who are looking for a particular item can save a fortune buying a well looked after second hand item. Watches are more complicated than jewellery and I'd read up about them and make sure you're dealing with a reputable source with a good returns policy.

Hi All, hoping someone can help me....I have been shopping for a pre-loved etoile ring for the past 6 months. I finally found one in decent shape, and my size. Only problem is I have never seen one like this...it has round holes inside the band. I have only ever seen teardrop holes inside....any thoughts would be appreciated! TIA!

I know this first hand! I bought an etoile with the round holes from a client. I knew it was real because I had the receipt (amongst other things). You're right, they normally have teardrop holes but it does seem that at some point Tiffany & Co. started manufacturing them with round holes. I can't remember when the one I bought was made. As an experienced professional I would also say that the ring in the picture looks as though it's made of solid platinum - it just has the colour and sheen. That's a good sign.

That's exactly what I needed to hear....thank you so much! :)

Hi guys, I'd like help in getting this Cartier Roadster Rays decor ballpoint pen authenticated. I bought it on eBay from a Singapore pen seller with 4k+ feedback of 99.8% positive, but I'm not convinced. Now that I think about it, how can he have so many Cartier pens for sale?

One of the the things that makes me suspicious, is that the box uses tension to open and close it AND it also has a clasp to keep it shut. Pen/jewelry boxes never have both...
I have a Pasha watch, the box has a tiny round push in clasp and no tension.

The "warranty" booklet is generic. Few instructions for the different types of pen: fountain, ballpoint, etc and the last page in a thicker, cream stock, they would fill in by hand this pen's info. Mine was blank.

The number under the red box is COST0046. If you go to Google and Google image and type "Cartier COST0046", you'll see lots of different pens with the same box code and shady sites selling the boxes with the same code and same generic warranty booklet.

Sorry. I forgot to post a picture of the box and pamphlet. Do the tags in the white box look legit?

Here's the seller and a pen identical to mine, except mine is a ballpoint.

Thanks in advance for the help!

TBH I don't like anything about this pen! The box looks cheap - the clasp is cheap and I don't think it should be there. If you google the serial number and you get a load of fakes then the chances are....

Sorry!

Thanks, Bloomsburymanor. I don't know what to do now, because the seller wants a %20 restocking fee ($90) to return it plus the shipping to Singapore. I can't find an authenticator without paying for it. I don't want to spend more money just to confirm my fears.

What should I do, so I can return the item and not pay $90 for what I think it's a fake? Contact the seller and tell him I'll contact eBay and tell my suspicions that I was sold is counterfeit? Contact eBay or Paypal 1st?

Hello,
I'm hoping someone here can help me. I purchased a Tiffany necklace for my girlfriend on ebay. The seller had sold a ton of high end goods with no negative reviews. I thought I was safe. The necklace appears real to me but the Tiffany packaging was fake. The seller said she used another box laying around. Now I'm concerned maybe the necklace is fake.

The item was: Tiffany Elsa Peretti Open Heart Lariat.

Here are a bunch of pictures of the item I received. You should be able to scroll through the pictures with the "next" button. Also, you can click on the pictures to enlarge.
