Real, or no real?

Pretty cleanly executed, but some imperfection in the stitching of the strap attachment is irksome. I'm embarrassed to admit that sometimes I have to really concentrate to discern better pleather from real leather. I can't tell by sight, alone. I'm not getting that 'rubbery' feedback from this one... and it smells okay. There's a nice wide variation in the ostrich pattern - can't find any repetition - but I'm pretty sure that IF's price points wouldn't support the use of genuine ostrich. YKK zippers, inside and out. Lining is well tailored to purse. No "MADE IN ___" tags.

I don't know or follow IF, but this purse isn't current - I don't know what style name to look up. Anyone know? Bur most of all... is it fake?

TIA!

Hi - I'm not an expert on IF bags yet, but I have been watching all of the listings on ebay of late. I do think that the label is a valid IF label, from earlier designs. I have not seen this particular bag in my ebay or other research though, so I don't know anything else about it.

Thanks for the input, manic. Funny, the label didn't concern me since I'd seen it in the past (check out post #176 on page 12 of this thread). I was wondering more about the quality of construction and materials.

Hello -
I have 2 IF bags that are just slightly different in color. I believe they are both authentic, one was purchased from a very reputable retailer, and the details on both bags are exactly the same. My question: is anyone familiar with the 2 different colors? The one on the left is called "camel". The one on the right is more yellow, with contrast stitching. I see the "camel" colored one all over (bag/borrow website, ebay) but I don't see the color on the right anywhere and I would like to know what that color was called.
Hopefully someone here might know ~ Thanks!

Hi,
I am new to this forum and am interested in IF bags so I read through all of the posts in this thread (yes....ALL of them ). One person posted that all IF bags have brass hardware that isn't magnetic so you can always easily do that test on the bag that has the unusual color.

Just a suggestion.

It's fun to go on this site and learn from so many knowledgeable people !

I purchased a very good quality IF bag at a consignment shop. It had original tags and included the dust bag, so I was originally confident in my purchase; but when a coworker questioned the authenticity, I researched online and became doubtful. I found one site where you can order replica IF bags with the tags, dust bag, and even tissue paper! I will list some info on the bags, as well as some reasons for my doubt. I need to decide if I will keep or return it.

THE BAG
-well made, fully lined with good cloth
-IF logo's: rectangle inside of purse by zipper pocket, name is cast into about five brass rings on the bag, and there is a logo on the outside that is shaped like a long rectangle but with diamond shaped ends instead of squared. (my biggest hang up is that the only logo's I found online w the diamond shape on the end were on the site where they made the good quality replicas!)
-the IF tag says "UP TO SCALE-Cecilia tote"
-it is a teal tote with what looks like a lambskin and snake skin leather
-a cute tiny leather purse with a brass closure hook is attached with a leather loop that snaps on, this little one is not lined so you can see that it is real leather, "Isabella Fiore" is embossed into the leather on the back
-I do not see any markings that say what the materials are, like genuine leather, snakeskin, or manmade materials, etc
-there is a tag inside that says made in china

When I did a bar code search on google, two similar, but not identical, tags came up for handbags in 2006, but no other info was available on them.

Is the diamond shaped logo an old design? Are some IF bags made in China? Are there some clues that could identify the authenticity of the bag, tag, or dust bag? Any info would be appreciated thanks!!!!

Can you post photos of the bag? That is the best to do for responses here I think. Some IF bags are made in China; my newest one, purchased from a retailer was made in china. There is a Celia style tote listed on ebay now that has a different sort of diamond shaped name plate. Not for sure that that makes yours authentic, but you can compare to the one listed.

Anyone ??

I'm not a big expert but the bag you have pictured looks pretty good. Nice straight stitching, the whipstich design is very consistent in stitch and size. The name plate and imprints on the hardware is clear, straight (as opposed to blurry or offset). I've seen this basic tote style in a lot of ebay listings, which doesn't mean yours is or is not authentic, but I think that is an indicator of being the right shape and style to be authentic.

Was there something specific about the bag that concerned you?
