Is it just me or is there several things just not right about this coin purse? The chain, the hang tag, the imprinted Coach on the inside, even the turnlock doesn't look right.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/252719422664?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

It doesn't look right to me either. The back of the male part of the turnlock looks like it has prongs that come through the leather to the front of that piece to attach it. The coin purses I have like that have a completely different back on the female piece, none have the Coach name stamped like that on the inside, and the shape of the purse itself looks wrong. It's supposed to be a City Bag but it's too round at the base. The very first one they made, style 7248 from 1995, had a smaller rounder base too but the turnlock was bigger than this one The chain for the keyring has too many links too. Below is a pic of the original 7248 from Spring 1995.

There's one pic in my files of the very early version 7248 from 1995 that seems to be genuine and actually does have the handbag-style turnlock with the 4 prongs, but that style of turnlock was replaced in later versions. It doesn't have the Coach logo stamped on the inside though. None of my actual pouches or any of the ones in my photo files do.

Coach played with details on those over the years but I've never seen any with the details we both mentioned. Hard to be 100 percent sure that it's fake, but I know I wouldn't buy it. Those HAVE been faked so it's best to be cautious.

Another big difference with dstrub1 's item is in the thickness and style of grommet through which the chain and hang tag feed. I've never seen ridges like that.

EDIT: There's also a slight difference in the size and shape of the front of the female part of the turnlock. The side-by-side comparison shows that the seller's item is slightly less elongated (left to right) and slightly thicker.

I saw that one last night, and I agree.
I also see problems with this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/162339830839?_trksid=p11010.c100352.m3747&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=20150112095601&meid=51d63c27051d4addb7b49cf0703c46c4&pid=100352&rk=2&rkt=4&sd=262787822973&ul_noapp=true

seller says she is a member of tpf. I don't understand how buying items at estate sales ensures their authenticity.
Seller also has this POS: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-VINTA...007848?hash=item25cc4731e8:g:1ewAAOSw44BYP5Ja

Welcome to the purse forum. Here is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-COA...463507?hash=item237b0f6b93:g:ZOwAAOSwo4pYcpgD
The bag in the listing is an authentic Ranch bag #9852 from around 1991.
If you want to do some reading, this thread is also good: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/answers-to-authenticity-questions.94198/
I am so grateful for your response, whateve. I have now uploaded the iPad guide so I can learn to copy and post links!
I also suspect that I posted a "response" when I should have asked a separate question in a new thread which I am not allowed to do because I am too new. Again, many thanks.

You're welcome! You did it right. You aren't supposed to start a new thread for authentications. The correct way is to use the "post reply" button. That way all authentications are stored together, all in one thread.

LOL! GMTA! Earlier this afternoon, I sent a link to ladydiep 's listing to Hyacinth in a PM because I questioned it too.

It's not the first time LADYDIEP has listed fakes:

I hope that one of you dedicated authenticators can help authenticate a bag for me. I don't know how to include a link to a listing or copy information into an email on my IPad and my granddaughter isn't close by to help! I was already an adult when Bonnie Cashin was designing for Coach and teaching this old dog new tricks is getting increasingly harder.

The bag is described as a "Companion" bag and is listed on eBay by minter59, #152388463507.

I bought 4 coach bags on eBay in the last month, at least 3 of which I now know to be fake. Am working through the authentication thread now --page 88, only close to 1900 to go!

I agree about reading those very long threads, but keep something in mind especially with the Answers to Authenticity Questions thread. You don't want to go back more than maybe 3 or 4 years because Coach has changed a lot of details in their bags and other items since that thread was started, and a lot of the older information is out of date. Even something as basic to Coach as stamping serial numbers in their bags was discontinued in 2014.

And reading old posts about authenticating bags does help a lot, but some of the details we use to authenticate are so specific to certain plants, months and years that what can indicate "real" on one bag can indicate "fake" on another. The ONLY way to be sure a bag or any other Coach item is authentic is to post photos. Once you get comfortable with that process it gets easier, but good clear photos are absolutely essential. There are things like lists of problematic or fake serial numbers, but no one can make a list or a cheat sheet of what proves that a Coach is genuine. Every single bag has to be looked at individually because Coach changes things constantly, and different plants sometimes do things differently. There are no shortcuts, which is something that all those "authenticity guides" fouling up the internet never mention..

Here is a set of six Coach Guides posted at Ebay that IS accurate, except for some recent changes like the serial number issue that I mentioned. (The UGGS Guide isn't part of the Coach set).

It's not the first time LADYDIEP has listed fakes:
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...oach-fakes-here.430751/page-592#post-23222489
Both of the fakes that were posted above have been removed. (Her listings state that she's a "proud TPF member" but doesn't seem to hang around much.

ETA: Adding pictures of the creeds from the "sold" fakes in case the listings are removed.
She also sold these fakes:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-VINTA...OSSBODY-BUCKET-HANDBAG-9019-EUC-/152250146409

but I wonder about another current ladydiep listing:

Style 9145
Item: 162216475547
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-VINTA...475547?hash=item25c4dafb9b:g:E2gAAOSwmLlX5zpd
Seller ladydiep

Comments: The serial font doesn't look the same as those I usually see from the G plant. However, a search of other *9G creeds yields other months with the same font.

I'd have to see the male part of the magnetic snap, but so far I've NEVER seen a *9G serial that I could be sure was genuine. I have a single photo of an E9G-9168 creed that I'm sure is fake because the style wasn't even introduced until more than a year after the date code, and the font is a match for the bag in question.

The creeds are identical, from the very rounded COACH in the first sentence to the squished STATES in the third line. And did you notice that the Coach name in the logo on top is crooked? The first C is noticeably higher than the H. That alone would be a major red flag, Coach is really fussy about that logo and I can't see them letting a creed stamp like that through QC. Add to that the invalid plant and month codes in the ones you posted and they can't be anything BUT fake.

I knew the sold bags were fake. I posted them to show the seller's history. The one I questioned was the weird *9G bag.

I think it is fake. Not only are there problems with the creed, but look at the ends of the leather that attach the buckles. (3rd picture from the end.) See how it is just cut off really short? The ends should extend further inside the bag. Look at the second to last picture in this listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Vinta...883066?hash=item58ec05287a:g:0Y4AAOSw4GVYStd8 The ends come to the top of the inside pocket.
