I've never carried my basic bag. I think it is too small for me but I like looking at it!

I'm the same way Whateve, I have a beautiful red basic bag you authenticated a few years ago...I take her out occasionally, set her on the dining room table for a few days and take a long look every time I walk by. My girlfriend keeps asking me to sell it to her but I'm not quite ready to do that. I just might need this red bag one day. ;)

I plan on rehabbing and selling most of them. Glued in serial number probably as vintage of a bag I can afford to buy. Plus they are easy to rehab. I am keeping a burgundy one for me.
I never use a red bag. But... the red station bag I found came today. Was going to sell it, until I touched it and held it and modeled it in front of the mirror. Darn.

Oh I love a nice red bag...a darker blue red...not an orange red. Yep yep...now you're going to carry it. lol

My basic bag is burgundy and in new condition. Part of the reason I don't use her is that she survived around 35 years without a scratch and I don't want to spoil her streak. Once or twice I tried putting my things inside and hardly anything fit.

I love Coach red bags. I use my Berkeley but my trail bag and slim satchel compact are just to look at.

But you know your burgundy bag wants to be carried and used. Leather gets better with use...come on...use her! LOL

Ok ok...I'll admit I buy shoes (heels) I know I'll never wear but I do love looking at them. And remembering the days when I could and did wear them. It sucks getting older. lol I never thought I would. :graucho:

Hello :) first time poster hoping for some help in authenticating a Coach 1994 Sonoma backpack that I picked up in a thrift shop. I've checked extensively online but I'd like a second opinion on the bag. I called my city's Coach flagship store and was told I could have them send it to headquarters for authentication, but I've had really bad luck with shipping/post service in the past and am somewhat worried to risk it :( . Any help would be much appreciated! Hopefully the photos are good enough quality :)

Welcome to the purse forum! I've never heard of Coach doing authentications and honestly, I wouldn't trust them. Their employees are only familiar with current styles and all they would do is confirm that the style number on the creed is for the correct style. Your backpack is authentic.

thank you whateve!
You're welcome!

It does suck getting older! Maybe we've become obsessed with purses because you don't have to be young to carry them. I have lots of shoes too but I haven't worn heels in so long, I bet I'd be wobbly. These days, I choose my shoes mostly for comfort. Sometimes I'm even too lazy to tie my tennis shoes so I wear loafers or Uggs. This time of year I pick my outfits for warmth rather than fashion.

I've been very bad the last few days. I bought two purses on ebay. It's the opposite of downsizing.

Thanks for looking at the creed I posted last night, Whateve and Hyacinth! If I win the bag I'll post the link here. eBay seems to have gotten pretty cutthroat lately (and posting here doesn't help my paranoia with that) so I'd rather not post a link until after it's official.

Understand that the authenticators on the Coach subforum are pretty lenient as compared to some of the other brands. Most won't authenticate ended listings, most won't authenticated private purchases and sales, most won't authenticate if they suspect that the authentication is requested by a seller (even if pictures only are posted). Most won't authenticate without active listings, seller IDs, and adequate clear pictures.

We understand that buyers are reluctant to post links to listings because they don't want to draw attention to a listing that may not have any bids at the moment.

But it's unfair to sellers to authenticate after the fact and it's unfair to authenticators to post ended listings for what can be interpreted as "selfish" reasons. Questions are required and expected to be asked before bidding because bidding and buying is a contractual obligation. If you suspect a fake, you don't bid but to bid/win/buy and withhold payment pending authentication is wrong, IMO.

On the other brand forums, if a member doesn't want to disclose a listing link or if the listing has ended, the authenticators require that the poster obtain a professional authentication.

I'm not saying that it is going to happen here but if it gets too busy or if too many buyers come here after the fact, it might happen.

There was a time when items could be sent to Jacksonville for authentication and documentation. That ended about 10 years ago.

Shoes! Loved buying and wearing and looking, until I became vintage! Not older, just vintage. Like a fine wine, or a Coach bag!!

So I am not the only one that just wants to look, not use! :smile1:
