I don't think so. There are rare items that you don't see a lot of and as such, they won't show on Google if there weren't any postings.

Look at the following side by side comps. I'd be hard-pressed to consider that your item is fake! (Hyacinth's opinion is more than welcome for a second opinion.) The only thing yours doesn't have is the lozenge but hangtags can fall off so that doesn't prove anything.

Again, I don't believe it's fake but would love another opinion.

ETA: in looking at the side by sides, I notice that your cow has longer legs and either shorter ears or your cow has a larger diameter. The horns have a slightly different shape too.

This is why I love side by side comparisons. You can see so many details that might escape you otherwise.

You are SHARP! But here's a better picture in the light of day - the legs don't appear quite so long. Perhaps the shadowing effect made them look elongated in the previous picture.

If in fact the legs ARE shorter or longer than the one you have, does that prove it's a fake, or could there have been variations in the genuine ones?

That straight on picture is much better for comparison but I still see a difference in the length of the legs.

So would that difference indicate a counterfeit?

BTW, here are three more clear photos. And by the way I REALLY REALLY appreciate your time and help! I'm an experienced forum user and many forums aren't so kind to total newbies.

I have pictures of three different cows on my computer and they all have differences. The top one has longer legs and the bottom is the one I bought at the outlet, which has even shorter legs than yours.

You're welcome.

I'm still not seeing anything that indicates your fob is fake. I've seen "good" fakes of other styles and there are always problems even with the "good" fakes. But I don't see any problems with your item.

Well, I just got off the phone with coach customer care.
The agent said she doesn't find the brown one in the database. She said different countries may release different authentic Coach products but to her knowledge this item was never sold in the US.
arggh.

Coach employees are known to give inaccurate information. A Coach employee is one of the last people I would trust with regard to styles, colors, items made by Coach, etc.

Please wait for Hyacinth to chime in.

You're apt to get much more informed and accurate information from people who actually buy the items and study them for years. Coach employees are trained to sell items that are currently in their stores and in their computer systems. If an item is older, made for an international market, made as a department store exclusive or otherwise outside the normal parameters encountered by employees, they're more likely to give misinformation than to admit they don't know something.

Hi! I just joined the forum (literally seconds ago) because I'm concerned about a Coach key fob that was traded to me in an online swap. The trading member is legitimate so I don't suspect a purposeful scam, but I simply cannot find a single online reference to this particular item.
Please post a link to the online swap and seller's ID where you purchased the cow.

:welcome2: This particular Coach forum is very kind to newbies. Since you were referred by Google you probably aren't aware, but BeenBurned, Whateve and Hyacinth are the expert authenticators on this forum. I believe also NoShoePolish. They have extensive knowledge and files that they share with all of us very generously!

What I am reading from their replies: they believe your key charm is authentic and more rare than the black and white cow. All have minor differences in stitching and sizing. Your brown cow actually has more precise and better stitching than the first example that BeenBurned posted. (my Non expert opinion :p )

This was a gift from another member on a mom-to-mom trading site called swapmamas.com. I'm a moderator there and one of the members sent it as a surprise thank you gift. She had it listed previously for swap as authentic, and she's a seasoned member who's known to be honest so I know she wouldn't deliberately scam anyone. I was reluctant to question her directly about its authenticity and risk hurt feelings so was trying to find info elsewhere. ..

I have had this purse for a few years now it was a gift from an ex I thought it was real but after finding out I may not know what a real bag looks like lol hoping to get some help to ease my mind on its authenticity :)

I understand.

I think the fob is fine.

A lot of sellers list items from "exes" that are fake.

But your ex gave you a genuine Coach.
