That person would be me:sad:. I did email the sellers asking them to cancel the transaction as I believe it's a fake. Learned my lesson good & proper about having something authenticated first!! *sigh*
Oh I'm sorry. I reported it so hopefully it will be removed and you won't be obligated. I would risk an unpaid strike rather than end up with a fake.

Thank you! I apologized to the seller about my mistake in bidding before I had it authenticated, and nicely let them know I have no intention of paying for it. I too would risk an unpaid strike than a fake. Thanks again for your help. :smile1:

Here is what the original owner that I bought it from tells me: "I bought it new about 15 years ago but have hardly been used. I do not recalled the name. I remember seeing it in a Christmas catalog and them I bought it from the catalog."

Wow...I wonder if that is possible...:nogood::nogood::nogood:

The bag is fake so I hope you can get a refund. Even $30 is too much to pay for a fake. (The seller should have paid YOU to dispose of it!)

There are so many things wrong with it. Just a few things are:
1. Style 12960 shouldn't be a leather bag
2. the creed describes a fabric bag but this is (probably pretending to be) leather
3. The hardware is wrong
4. The creed is shoddily shaped and sloppily stitched
5. The serial number is commonly seen on fakes of a similar style (It's a legit serial number but not for the bag it's on.)

This is what 12960 should look like:

Thank you so much BeenBurned. I got my money back today!

I doubt that is possible. 15 years ago would have been 1999, much too late to have a NYC creed. There are plenty of catalogs available from that period. as well as actual purses, and the fact remains that none of us have ever seen this exact style before.

If you contact Jed Winokur at Coach, he might even be interested in it. I don't know exactly how to contact him. He has an ebay account: http://www.ebay.com/usr/nyc_vintage_coach?_trksid=p2053788.m1543.l2754

Do you think this Sonoma is authentic?

Auction ending soon. Thank you for your opinions.

You have nothing to apologize for. It's the seller's responsibility to know before listing and with 100% certainty that every item is authentic. If they can't confirm authenticity or if it's inconclusive as to authenticity, it cannot be listed at all.

Refer the seller, chrisanddave321 here. Watch to make sure it doesn't get relisted.

Thanks again guys. They agreed to mutually cancel the transaction...even tho they protested the bag is authentic. They asked why I thought it was fake, and I did refer them here.

I have holiday catalogs from most years between 1990 and 2005 and believe me, it was NOT a recent catalog listing. Like Whateve said - wrong creed wording as well as no serial number. Also the Coach logos all have the "fat" font that wasn't used much past the early 1990s, and the hangtag is definitely from the mid to late 80s through maybe the early 90s.
