One last one for today, also found this weekend.. appreciate all the help with authentication & IDs.

Item: Soho (I think?) Belted Shoulder Pouch in black leather
In my possession
Size: approx 11" h x 8" w x 4" d
Creed details:
"Handcrafted in Costa Rica" #H7M-4156

Thanks again!

It's a genuine Soho Belted Pouch.

Thanks so much whateve & Hyacinth! OhEmmGee that catalog photo!! Love the colors! I think I may need more of these.
Tho - my dear husband told me he thought it looked like a beer cozy
:: eye roll ::

Is a '41' prefix in the style part of the creed numbers an indication that it's from the Soho line?

Yes, the "41" often meant Soho but not always. The Flatiron, Lexington, West End, Manhattan, and a few other small lines also had -41xx style numbers.

Hello,
I would love it if someone could authenticate this bag for me! My mom gave it to me; it had been in her closet for years. I called the Coach online store and they said they did not have the number (No 0818-307) and referred me to this site. They said perhaps it is quite vintage...I hope so! Thanks much.

With vintage bags it always helps to post measurements, and also a picture of the front of the bag so we can compare it to our catalog and file photos. It MIGHT be a Kent Bag but I need measurements and a straight-on picture of the front of the bag to be sure since there are two similar styles with the same front flap.

And I'm glad at least someone at Coach understands that it's impossible to authenticate any bag or other item without seeing it.
I'm shocked (and pleasantly surprised) that Coach promoted and referred you to this site!

Hi, I have an item I need some help authenticating. Specs are as follows:

Item: Coach Patricia Legacy bag
Listing number: 301250335878
Seller: attic41
Link: Here

Thanks very much for your help, as always!
I'm not comfortable authenticating this listing because it's not my area of expertise, but I will comment on the seller, attic41

I don't recommend this seller as she has a history of listing and selling fakes.

ETA: And just for the record, I'm not comfortable with this listing from attic41 either. I'd like either Hyacinth or Whateve to look at it.

Thank you so much. I've attached a better picture. The strap is adjustable with 5 holes and approximately The length and the height are each 10". There is an exterior back open compartment, front (under flap) open compartment, a main compartment, and and interior zip pocket. The depth when measured across the bottom is 2" within the seams or 2 1/2" including the seams.

Oh wow, really? I had no idea. Thanks for looking out. I haven't bid on it yet so you saved me some trouble. :smile1:

It's authentic. It's probably about 10 years old so it's not surprising that you wouldn't have found anything with the number. Since there's no serial number on the creed and being so old, it's unlikely that even if there were a listing for the same item, the seller probably wouldn't know the style number to reference.

The price tag seems to say either Spectator or Special Embossed Leather Pouch. My Guess would be the same as BeenBurned, that it's maybe 10-12 years old, maybe less since it was an Outlet item and there are no records available.

Thank you! :D

Thanks for the extra photos. :smile1:

That's why measurements and pictures are important. The original photos didn't even show the actual shape of the bag, and there are actually THREE styles with the same front flap and the photos didn't give any clues that yours was actually square rather than rectangular like the other 2 styles in the line. With vintage bags, full pictures and details are always important. A lot of them have very similar details and things like measurements and pocket details are all we have to go on, like the three styles in the picture below.

Yours is a Shelton Bag, style 9917 from 1993.

The Patricia's Legacy doesn't look right. The font of the words in the creed is wrong and so are the font(s) in the serial number. The "G" should have a very distinctive shape and position and it doesn't. The pictures also don't show the full length of the inside pocket and pocket zipper and important clues are missing. In the one picture that seems to show the top of the inside pocket it not clear at all which is the main zipper and which is for the inside pocket. The grommets on the strap don't look like they're brass-colored either. I personally wouldn't buy that bag.

As for this listing that BeenBurned also mentioned:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Leath...er-Chrome-No-Strap-Fits-Tablet-/301271315222?
I'm seeing problems with the turnlock hardware, the leather around the turnlock, and the serial number prefix has never been validated for bags that say they were made in the US. I don't think it's genuine either.

With regard to the "Willis" bag listing above (with the H6L prefix), I have a comparison which I suspect will further prove that the bag is fake.

attic41 has two Willis listings with serial numbers indicating that they were made at the same plant and within a month of each other. One has H6L and the other is G6L.

Having been made at (nearly) the same time and in the same factory, the creeds should be identical with the exception of the month code.

I've seen quite a few bags with the fuzzy L plant codes and I've been reporting them.
