Hi experts! I hope you're all doing well today! I have this beauty today which I bought at goodwill a two days ago and I'm not feeling too confident about it being authentic since I'm not familiar with this model, so I hope you can help me. It came with a tag and a coach guide/registration guide and its in pretty good condition. which makes me suspicious. :hrmm:

Item Name: Belted Pouch #4156
L: 9.5 in x D: 5 in x W: ~7.9 in
Comments: It has this weird wrinkles (dry leather?) on the bottom and its on one side only. I dunno I never seen this coach style as much as the other ones.

Thank you so much!:smile1:

Ok so here's is the "new" thrift bag that I was trying to research:

Vintage Leather Drawstring Flap Cross body bag-- those are all the modifiers I can think of :)
Measures 7" long x 9" tall x 3" deep. strap adjusts 41"-46" long.
Coach Leatherware creed 0631-106 made in United States.
Leather seems like from the light weights.

Wow, great find! This style is heavily counterfeited, but you found one of the authentic ones. Congratulations!

I think I found another one that is buying from that fake Coach website. The style number begins with a 4 and I am fairly certain that Coach has not started using numbers past the 2xxxx series yet and are not even on 3s let alone 4s.

Uhg, check out their completed listings! Poor buyers are all stuck with fakes! Is there anyway to contact these buyers?

The bag in the pictures is authentic however it's not pictures of the actual item. The pictures are taken from the internet.

I don't recommend the seller, fourseasonsgreetings nor do I recommend buying from sellers located in the Alhambra, Arcadia, Tustin, CA or vicinity.

Over the last several years, we've seen dozens of sellers from that geographic area with similar pictures and listings. They use stolen stock pictures from other sources and sell highly faked styles and items. The quantities they have make it impossible for me to believe the items are authentic.

I believe they are a counterfeit-selling ring with "good" fakes and many buyers, including resellers are getting fakes.

The 5-digit 4xxxx style numbers are used by Coach and have been used for several years. They're usually smaller accessories items like wristlets, wallets, pouches, etc.

1 & 2- the Prairie Bag and Court Bag are genuine

3- always-fake serial number 0974-534 is on "the List", the "solid Brass" stamp on the buckle is fake on any Willis, the leather part of the turnlock is wrong, the creed stamp and Coach logo are wrong - FAKE

Thanks to both you and whateve!

I had scanned "the List" but I must've missed that one.

Fake piece of junk.

Any time the first half of the serial number is all letters and no numbers, it's fake. But sometimes a plant would use the letter "o" for the year code for 2000 instead of a zero, so be careful if the middle digit is either one.

We've seen plenty of GAD- fakes though, and they're ALL fake. Not only that but the serial font is much too thick, the "Made in... " at the bottom of the creed is wrong, and style number 4437 belongs ONLY to a Soho Stripe Small Hobo, picture below. Please report it.
Just want to add that in addition to the invalid GAD-4437, there's also G4D-4437:

I never buy the smaller bags and was not aware of the the 4xxxx series. Now I know. Thank you. I have learned so much from this forum just from lurking. I am just appalled at all the fakes I am seeing on ebay these days. You would think they would hire someone to monitor for fakes! Should they be reported for anything? Isn't it a violation to use stolen pics?

When we aren't seeing pictures of obvious fakes, i.e., either the seller's actual pictures showing a fake or pictures from counterfeit selling sites showing non-Coach styles and obvious fakes, we shouldn't report.

The best we can do here is to recommend against buying from sellers whose sources and quantities are questionable.

It's fairly common knowledge that Coach limits quantities that they allow their customers to buy. Coach doesn't want its customers buying for resale and they even ban customers when they suspect them of being resellers.

That's why we see red flags when there are dozens of sellers with dozens (and even hundreds) of identical styles of highly faked and well-faked styles.

Although the possibility is remote, there's a slim chance that the items are authentic but it's better to be safe and buy from a more reputable seller who is known to sell authentic and has a proven history of selling the real deal.

Check and make sure you're using the most current Fakes List. That number was only spotted maybe 4 years ago so it won't be on the early Lists, there are probably 3 or 4 different lists posted here at tPF. The current one is from March of 2014 and the four parts are posted here, the 0974-534 number is about 2/3rds down the first post

Coach handbags are already into the 30,000 number range, accessories are now in the 50,000s, and other items have expanded too. The huge number of new styles Coach adds to the full-price and Factory Stores inventory every month has really gotten out of hand - JMO.

Back in the true "vintage" days, 1970s and early 80s, Coach only introduced 4 or 5 new styles each YEAR, and those included briefcases and accessories.

You're right, it is from the Lightweight line and was called a Flap Drawstring, style number 4029 from around 1991.

Comments: Is this authentic? No picture of creed in auction. Seller sold a purse on July 7, 2014 and used the identical pictures from this auction. The seller does have 100% positive feedback. I googled the coach number 48533 and nothing shows up except a few pictures on Asian websites. Is anyone familiar with this bag? Thanks.
