Hi Hyacinth, I asked more detailed picture from seller and was weird about one thing. The top handle.

I circle out the area. It is kind of in the middle of the handle. It is like the orange structure inside of the bag. It is clear, because the color is brighter than the bag.
I have one in black, however I don't see the handle like this. The handle is fully covered by the black leather. So was curious if it is because the leather wear out or because of different design for different color, which should not be the case.

Sorry, I don't have one in that style to compare it to. Please wait for somone who does.

The bag in the listing is authentic. That's the correct wording for the text on the creed on that style.

Here's another bag (same style, same month/year/factory) to compare:
http://www.bonanza.com/listings/RARE-Coach-ROSE-Pink-Legacy-Shoulder-Flap-10324/21190971

I thought that if the leather was dyed or treated, it wasn't vachetta? From what I remember, Coach just referred to those leathers as "Legacy". Vachetta is a light tan untreated leather that darkens with age and exposure to air, like the leather trim on an LV. Just because a few sellers pull a name out of their hats to add to the description doesn't make it fact.

In fact it's just listed as a Legacy Leather Flap in the catalogs. No mention at all of Vachetta either in the name or description.

We've mentioned this before but it's worth repeating - Don't always expect a seller to know how to accurately describe a bag, its name, or when it was made. All the listings for so-called "Bonnie Cashin" bags, and "vintage" bags that aren't even ten years old yet, much less the 20 that they'd have to be to be considered vintage, are good examples.

Thank you both so much! :smile1:

Hi guys! Looking for a rehab project and was wondering about these bags! They need need more help then wanted but the outsides look good. This listing has horrible pics, I asked for more, but with your guy's magnifiers maybe you can see! Thank you for your help!

Hello everyone!

I'm a newbie here but I've often visited this site for helpful posts regarding authenticity on certain brands. I'm a greenhorn when it comes to Coach bags and there's a ton of stuff out there that leaves me more confused than informed.

I recently bought a Coach Legacy Candace Medium Carryall in Perforated leather, the color is Watermelon/Snow off ebay.ph. When I got the item, I had this awful feeling my bag was fake. The dead giveaway was when I scanned it:
The bar code didn't register (which I did for another authentic Coach bag)
The second was the stitching on the handles were crooked, all the rest of the stitching were good though.
There's a tiny bit of peeling on the leather.
The hangtag was stamped on both sides.
There was no "Made in China" fabric or plastic tab inside.
It came in a Coach Leatherware plastic bag, but there's no sticker tag to it that matches the price tag.
The bag originally came with plastic wrapped handles and stuffed with grayish paper.
The zipper pulls and tags were wrapped in plastic, and not thin paper.
It has a Coach care card which is not the card I'm accustomed to (I only had two other coach bags before, with small care cards that fold).
The print on the dustbag is textured like velvet but the color appears to bleed into the fabric.

It's a very beautiful bag, and I'd just feel bad toting it around with the suspicion that it's a replica. :(

Please see the pictures below and I hope someone please be so kind and authenticate this bag. Thank you! :)

As much as buyers like to support and keep their revenue in their own countries, we generally recommend against buying designer items from sellers on ebay.ph. We've been seeing way too many scary "good" fakes that are often nearly perfect. There are small details that are often "off" but even those mistakes take expert eyes to catch.

I don't believe that your bag is authentic.

The creed on your bag shows it as supposedly being made in July, 2013 and it has a different font and different wording than another bag made in the same plant a few months earlier in October, 2012.

The lining is also different, the thread on the creed on your bag has a shininess that the other doesn't have, the corners where the stitching takes a turn aren't as sharp on yours.

Here's a larger and more legible view. Note that it's the same wording and font as the 2012 creed.

And one more creed with the same wording and font as the other authentic bags but different from yours.

There are several other serious mistakes too, but sometimes it's better if we don't mention them since pointing them out would make it easier for the crooks to correct them. The problems you mentioned in your post and the things BeenBurned pointed out are pretty solid red flags all by themselves.

But I agree with BeenBurned, that creed isn't right and the bag is fake. There's no doubt at all. You've been cheated and you need to try and get your money back.

Hello BeenBurned and Hyacinth,

Thank you so much for taking time to authenticate the bag. I've contacted the seller about it and gave her a link to this thread. I'm trying settle the issue with her as of this time and I do hope to get my money back. :(

And a big Oops for the details, should've just posted pics. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I've been buying bags on eBay. This sellers 100% positive feedback threw me in for a loop. :pullhair:

We've found so many "power sellers" and "top rated sellers" on ebay.ph as well as ebay.com with 100% feedback. There are a couple of reasons for this. Many buyers don't know they received fakes, thus leave positive feedback. Other buyers who do learn they got fakes get profuse apologies and claims of ignorance from sellers who "didn't know" the items were fake. Those buyers get their refunds and leave positive feedback for the "honest" sellers, many of whom know exactly what they were peddling.

And sadly, the Filippino ebay website is loaded with fakes being sold by sellers with 100% feedback.

I'm very glad you posted the details as well as showing photos. Things like the lack of a "Made in ..." tag on the inside and the fact that the bar code was invalid wouldn't have been easy to see in photos.

Unfortunately the Philippines have become a Mecca for fakes makers and sellers for many reasons, one of which is that many sales are paid for by bank transfer or other payment methods that make it difficult if not impossible to get your money back.

The only way I'd recommend local buyers to buy any highly-faked items or brands would be if they can pay with Paypal or with a strongly-protected credit card that will refund the buyer's purchase price in case of fraud such as buying a counterfeit item. Buying with a bank transfer or any other kind of cash payment is just too dangerous. And although everyone always wants to buy local, it's just too easy to be cheated and will probably be that way for a long time unless the government passes strong anti-counterfeiting laws and makes sure they're enforced.

Good afternoon everyone, I wanted to make sure that these two bags are correct (my finds).

The first backpack measures about 13 inches tall x 11 inches wide across the bottom x 6 inches deep:

The other bag measures 10x10x3 and If it is authentic what country does "L" stand for if it was made in the USA?

Thank you very much and have a nice day!

I don't have good feelings about either of them.

Below are two creed and serial combinations from months just a bit before and a bit after the July 1995 C plant serial in your backpack. Compare the "No" especially the length of the underscore line and the font of the N. The genuine ones have serifs, short lines at right angles to the long lines of the letter. Then compare the shape of the 9s, and the length of the dash between the two parts of the serial number. You can also see pressure marks above the top right and left corners of the creed stamp which usually isn't a good sign.

The third picture shows the Classic Backpack, notice the turnlock area especially the shape of the padded area of the leather. That shape should be the same on both the Backpack and the Willis, but neither one matches it.

The Willis doesn't have the right turnlock details for that padded area, and the serial number is fake. I made this note about a year ago in my own personal files and haven't seen any evidence to make me change it:
"H8L- prefixes with US creeds seem to be all fake and H8L- 9927 serials have been found in both fake Willises AND fake backpacks"

There is no solid evidence that the L plant code was used for any US plant in 1998 (although there was a Neo Backpack with an M8L-6205 serial that had an incorrect creed description), and combined with the misshaped padding above the turnlock, I'm sure that the Willis is fake too.
