Comments: bag looks fishy. Has puffy creed and serial is missing a o from the No. And it's serial is 308-9875.

And thanks again ladies :)

That number is on the Fake Serial Numbers list, all bags with it are fake. Posts 1077 thru 1080:

The creed also claims to be made of "full Crain leather" and "marXings" is spelled with an X.

Hi, JOODLZ, I hope you share your rehab magic with us. I bought an absolutely filthy purse with the same kind of suede and tassle from 2006 but I am afraid to do anything with it, which is crazy since I paid 12.50 for it!

Be brave...post some pics on the rehab & rescue thread...there are lots of helpful folks over there :)

Thanks for grabbing this link...some suede comes clean better than others!

Comment: This is sold but not too late to report if a fake. Wrong style number and the piping on the bottom looks dreadful.
It definitely looks a little sketchy. The exact style number doesn't pop up on my list of known fakes that I've compiled, but it shares the first three letters with quite a few. This looks like a style that should have studs on the bottom, and the seams there don't look like anything I've seen in person on a Coach bag even if it's vintage. It also seems a little off in that the brass pieces don't fit quite right so it seems like the handle would slide around. One thing that I've noticed too is quite a few vintage bags don't have leather pulls on the zipper--they're usually a short chain with a wider ring on the end to grasp.

Thank you for the effort Frenchie, but it might be a good idea to wait a bit until you get a good idea of what's involved with authenticating a Coach product. The regular authenticators know exactly what to look for, and its best to let them do the actual authenticating unless you have personal experience with the style that's being questioned. Authentications have to be specific for that style, generalities like "some bags have brass feet and some don't" really don't help authenticating something, we need to know if THAT style had brass feet. I agree about the bags and the hardware, but having photos of what a genuine one looks like is even better.

Two.time - The fonts are wrong for the "No" and so is the underscore and the dash, the Coach logo should be in the newer "skinny" font and not the old one, there are missing stitches on the outside zipper pull, and most importantly it has the wrong style number. Style number 4150 belongs to a Fletcher. I can't quite pinpoint what style it's trying to copy but I'll keep looking.

ETA - It's trying to be a Pelham Zip #9958, but the strap hardware is slightly the wrong size and shape, the ends of the straps are badly sewn and the stitching details don't even match, the straps seem much too long and should be very slightly padded, the base edging is very badly done, the top zipper installation isn't quite right and the brass stop isn't visible, the inside pocket should always have a zipper, and there are several pieces of trim missing from the inside.

Here's a GENUINE one from a tPF member (I hope she doesn't mind if they're posted here as an example of a genuine bag), compare the details I mentioned:

Thanks Hyacinth. As I thought. Some poor punter bought it. I'll report it anyway.
Is it trying to be a Pelham Zip #9958 do you think?
