Ok thanks! Do you know what the 3 means then? I was reading some authenticity guides online and I thought it had to be a letter..? Not really sure though...
The 3 is the factory code. In this case, it stands for China. Factory codes on older bags are letters but when they ran out of letters they started using numbers. Now most factory codes are two digit numbers.

It's fake. The first letter of the creed has to be between A and M. There are other problems as well, like the grooves on the back of the turnlock and the sloppy stitching. The square rings attaching the handle look too big.

Thank you so much, Whateve. I was suspicious of the serial no for the same reason; also I thought they didn't start using numbers in the second digit until 1994 and this one has a 3.
Glad I put it back on the rack!

I have a question about the other sticky thread-'Coach finds..deals…no chat'. If someone posts a find there, are they considered authentic, or if someone is interested should they post the item in this thread if they are unsure about the authenticity? It looks like the posters in that thread usually answer authenticity posts in this thread, so am I right to assume they are only posting items they think are authentic?

You're welcome. I'm glad you didn't get stuck with a fake! The second digit has always been numeric because before 1994, the creeds were all-numeric. If this had been an authentic creed, the 3 would have stood for 2003. Starting in 2004, the year code was expanded to two digits.

Awesome, thanks! Huge sigh of relief:D

No, I wouldn't consider them to always be authentic. Not everyone who posts there is an authenticator. Sometimes I'll post items there that don't have a creed picture so they can't be authenticated but usually I'll say that. If you are unsure, you should request an authentication.

To quote another post, in the post you want to quote, lower right, click on the "quote" link.

If you want to multi-quote, i.e., post a response with multiple posts in the answer, click the open circle in each post you want to quote. Then you have 2 options; you can either click "quote" in the last one you want to quote or you can scroll to the bottom of the page and click reply. All the posts will show in your response.

You're welcome!
That's why Beenburned made me the smiley! The ebay sellers were driving me crazy by using the wrong name. Here is my trail bag.

Hi all!!

Just passing by and saw comments on the red trail bag. Ooo la la, that's gorgeous, Whateve!!! That red is perfect!!

Hyacinth, don't want to promote the seller, but the catalogues on DVD are pretty awesome (she says sheepishly). If there was more reference material available I wouldn't have bothered.

The box at the bottom of the page shows the options for quick reply or advanced. If you quote someone, it will automatically open up a reply box in advanced mode. The advanced gives you more options, like the ability to attach photos.

Thanks!

There are 2 left. I wrestled with getting them, but they really are great. I even found a picture of BT drawstring bag from the '80s that I coveted so much : D

Ps so much for me not wanting to promote the seller.
