The Salearea Coach Guides posted at Ebay go into a lot of detail on creeds and serial numbers, you may want to read them especially the ones on those 2 subjects when you get a chance.

Hi - I found that too, but somebody at ebay messed up because that is actually part of the description language from the managed returns program, yet you find that information when you do a general "HELP" search about returns on ebay.
EBAY is fighting tooth and nail to get everyone to opt into their managed returns, almost as hard as they were fighting to get sellers to have FREE SHIPPING.
Sellers are punished indirectly and directly by not going along with ebay on these two policies and it will only get worse over time.
(For example, you get better placement in search results for offering Free Shipping than you would for being a 5-star seller with 100% feedback for over ten years).
I haven't been on here for a while but I have been reading this issue with interest. I have never sold anything on eBay but I agree that they are punishing all eBay sellers because of the rogue sellers that are causing them so many headaches. Unfortunately, eBay is the architect of their own misfortune. They don't properly police the listings.

I can't tell you how many fake Pandora sellers are on eBay and trying to report them is like spitting in the wind. eBay is a phenomenally large institution and I don't know about anyone else but I have no clue as to how they ensure policies are followed. You can write up a rule book that weighs five hundred pounds but if nobody ever checks to see that rules are being followed then what's the point?

The Purse Forum is like the Neighbourhood Watch program but with no real authority figure to report suspicious activity. Even when enough of us report fakes sometimes they still get sold, or relisted or relisted again. Take Station 85 - that seller has been banned (sent to the naughty corner, more like it) then are back again a short time later, doing exactly what they have always done.

I have been burned with my purchases too, when condition issues have been misrepresented or item is an outright fake. One item I didn't even open just sent it back "return to sender" and held my breath that the seller would admit she received it (she did).

My last purchase was a Whitney with a misrepresented condition, discolored exterior, color loss, disgusting dried slimy crud in the interior. I even emailed the seller to verify condition and was told any odd colorations was the result of the flash, yeah right. Anyway, I wanted to return it and was told I would have to pay for return shipping. I got the CS person to admit that I was the injured party in the transaction but I was the only one not made "whole" whereas the seller got the bag back and didn't have to shell out any cash for the return. I kept calling them and said they were also complicit in the situation by refusing to enforce the seller pay return shipping charges. I think they got tired of my schtick and as a "good will gesture" agreed to pay half of the return shipping. It was a small victory for me but I am still angry that I had to go through so much grief. When I returned the purse I added some printouts of the seller's original listing with highlighted areas of the "flash" issues and told her I would be watching for this item to be relisted and that she would be reported. It makes you feel like a vigilante because you are not supported by the system.

It always gobsmacks me that so many people bid on such incredibly bad pieces of JUNK, but genuine Coaches can sit for weeks or months with no bids. Sometimes I think that anyone who would think these obvious fakes are worth spending their money on DESERVES to end up with a POS. :censor:

GAH !!!! I need to take a break and get my blood pressure down a bit...

Thanks for spotting that first one - hard to believe that seller hasn't been noticed before.
And those creepy dolls, can you imagine them all staring at you at night, they give me the willies.

Not just a very questionable plant code, the T bags always seem to have something wrong with them, and I doubt if there ever was an actual T plant. And the fonts used in the serial number are ALL wrong, from the one used for the numbers to that HUGE underscore in the "No" to the visible stamped border edge in the lower right corner to the waaaaay off-center serial number.

And did you notice the the T plant code isn't really a T? It's an upside-down L - compare it to the first digit, the L month code, they're identical but flipped. Oh, and the strap grommets look silver-y, the leather is too textured, and the inside zipper is too wavy.

PLEASE report.
Reported. I didn't notice the upside-down 'L'.

This came up on my search for Madisons. Is this for real it looks so, so ......plastic-y? No offense if someone owns one.

Desc. Coach Ltd edition Madison Patent leather rare
seller: paesanthehandsoftime
item no. 251451426370
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251451426370

I can't find any information on it but that doesn't prove anything. There's no way to authenticate it without a clear readable photo of the creed patch.

ETA - Coach did at least one other very similar clutch in Lizard, I think. And the design details like the clasp are consistent with bags from 2001. And smooth patent leather back then did tend to look plastic-y.

And it doesn't help that trying to search Ebay's help section for information is almost impossible. Ebay has to have the absolute WORST search features I've ever found on any website, bar none.

For instance, try searching in the Customer Support section for something really obvious, like "keyword spamming". Should be a no-brainer, right? But what you get is a response that says "We didn't find a good match for your search. Please try again, or see our Related help to the right."
http://ocsnext.ebay.com/ocs/sr?searchstring=keyword+spamming

The top link at the right is "Search and Browse Manipulation policy" which takes to to a page that includes this:
"Don't engage in tactics like keyword spamming, because this makes it hard for people to find what they're looking for." and "keyword spamming is a link.
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/search-manipulation.html

Clicking it takes you to a Keyword Spamming link farther down the page which FINALLY takes you to the section on Keyword Spamming
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/search-manipulation.html#keyword

SO WHY THE F*** CAN'T EBAY SEARCH TAKE YOU RIGHT WHERE YOU ASKED TO GO IN THE FIRST PLACE??? No wonder sellers don't bother to read the Rules, trying to even find them is a colossal JOKE. And it's the same thing when you search for almost any commonly-used phrase, you're sent on a scavenger hunt trying to find something that should have come up with the very first Search query.

If Google had used the same people to design their search engine as Ebay did, they wouldn't have lasted a month.

Please help authenticate this handbag?
I just purchased it from a local consignment shop a few hours ago for only $5.00.
The SA said the purse was an "Original Coach Bag", so I'm not too sure on authenticity.
I would appreciate any input you have. Thanks so much!

Complete and utter fake.

Style 1860 belongs ONLY to a Scribble Stitch Tote, NEVER to a plain Signature version. The Scribble Stitch style was embroidered, not just woven, and was a Limited Edition bag that sold for over $400 brand new.

I just sold my genuine Scribble Tote today and seeing a fake of that style is like a knife through my heart. There's nothing right about that bag from the fabric to the misaligned C pattern to the trim to the creed patch.

The REAL one looks like this:
