Here is the other bag to authenticate:

Item: Looks to be a Coach Willis Bag
Seller: local GW
Comments: In rough condition. Handle needs a repair. The leather is still thick and supple, but could use a good scrubbing. No hangtag. Measures approximately 10 x 10".

The creed and serial number. I can't tell if that's "GOC" or "G0C". Either way it seems to precede the mid-90s code standardization.

Given the nice quality of the leather, I feel like I find a diamond in the rough that just needs some pampering, but I could be wrong.

Thanks!!! :)

also please let me know if the images are too big? oops.

It's genuine. "G0C-" is the serial prefix

Comment: Nickel hardware in 1997? Is it a Bedford? If authentic, what is the other one, please?

Coach started using nickel hardware on purses in Spring 1997 but ONLY on 3 or 4 colors in the Soho line, including Periwinkle. It's a Bedford Flap and it's genuine.

The other one is a genuine Chelsea Hobo.

I have another Coach or Foach to authenticate. It's been hiding in the back of my closet for a while, because it's dirty. I've been told that suede can be safe to dunk. I want to try that, so I brought it out of retirement. But I might as well also find out if it is real!

Item: Looks to be a Flint Suede Hobo Style #F10281
Seller: Local thrift store, was a while ago so I don't recall which one.
Comments: Bag is in "well-used" condition. The leather on the zipper pull split and partially tore off at some point. There's no hangtag. The leather trim is still in good shape, but the suede is dirty.

Creed and serial number: the description in the creed matches the actual bag fabrication, usually a good sign. If I'm interpreting the serial number correctly, it is a Factory style for the outlets, #F10281, and was made in May 2006. The only thing throwing me off is the "3" after the 06. I thought factory code came after the year code. But I'm still learning this stuff.

The Salearea Coach Guides posted at Ebay go into a lot of detail on creeds and serial numbers, you may want to read them especially the ones on those 2 subjects when you get a chance.

Sorry, it does look like a 6 now that my brain has been prepped to accept that possibility. And no way are my eyes "better", in fact by the end of the day they feel like they're about three hundred years old. That's why I try to avoid authenticating things like wallets where you really have to almost study the details with a magnifying glass.

The *6L- prefixes seem ok as long as the L is just slightly larger than the 6.

Sorry about that! :shame:

Thanks Hyacinth and thanks for the tip about the slightly large L. I do see that pattern among the 3 serials now.

:ty: As well as your vast knowledge, I really appreciate how promptly you and the other authenticators respond here on the Coach forum, Hyacinth. It's not my experience on some of the other forums.

Comment: Please authenticate. I haven't seen a serial number with this font before, and T for a US plant?

Not just a very questionable plant code, the T bags always seem to have something wrong with them, and I doubt if there ever was an actual T plant. And the fonts used in the serial number are ALL wrong, from the one used for the numbers to that HUGE underscore in the "No" to the visible stamped border edge in the lower right corner to the waaaaay off-center serial number.

And did you notice the the T plant code isn't really a T? It's an upside-down L - compare it to the first digit, the L month code, they're identical but flipped. Oh, and the strap grommets look silver-y, the leather is too textured, and the inside zipper is too wavy.

PLEASE report.

Please help authenticate this handbag?
I just purchased it from a local consignment shop a few hours ago for only $5.00.
The SA said the purse was an "Original Coach Bag", so I'm not too sure on authenticity.
I would appreciate any input you have. Thanks so much!
