The first two look ok

I'm not sure about the third, we've seen at least 2 or 3 serials with *8L- serial prefixes in fake bags. The font in the Station Bag seems ok but most or all "H8L-" prefixes seem to have all been fake, like this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Vinta...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I can't find a genuine E8L- serial to compare it to.

Hi Hyacinth,

Thank you for the fast response. Regarding the 3rd one, does it make a difference if the serial is *6L? Or have you not seen any genuine E6L - serial numbers either? Just wanted to make sure. Thanks.

It looks good.

Hi,

Can someone please authenticate these bags for me? Many thanks in advance.

Ha ha! I know Hyacinth's eyes are better than mine so when she said it was a "6" I just figured I'm blinder than I thought.

Here's an F6L from a month later than the bag you asked about and IMO (but I'm not expert in the classics,) the font looks identical.

And a B6L for the same station bag style from a couple of months earlier.

And the one you asked about:

BeenBurned,

Thank you for chiming in with your thoughts and pictures of 6L serials. I know all the ladies who authenticate have a sharp eye and the angle for the serial photo I provided makes it a bit tricky. If I didn't already know the style number, I would think the 2nd digit from the right was a 2.

It looks good.

Sorry, it does look like a 6 now that my brain has been prepped to accept that possibility. And no way are my eyes "better", in fact by the end of the day they feel like they're about three hundred years old. That's why I try to avoid authenticating things like wallets where you really have to almost study the details with a magnifying glass.

The *6L- prefixes seem ok as long as the L is just slightly larger than the 6.

Sorry about that! :shame:

Thanks very much.

The first one looks good.

The second one doesn't have red flags but it's lacking in pictures and there's no description! (There aren't any red flags but I'd need to see the lining and the creed.)

I have another Coach or Foach to authenticate. It's been hiding in the back of my closet for a while, because it's dirty. I've been told that suede can be safe to dunk. I want to try that, so I brought it out of retirement. But I might as well also find out if it is real!

Item: Looks to be a Flint Suede Hobo Style #F10281
Seller: Local thrift store, was a while ago so I don't recall which one.
Comments: Bag is in "well-used" condition. The leather on the zipper pull split and partially tore off at some point. There's no hangtag. The leather trim is still in good shape, but the suede is dirty.

Creed and serial number: the description in the creed matches the actual bag fabrication, usually a good sign. If I'm interpreting the serial number correctly, it is a Factory style for the outlets, #F10281, and was made in May 2006. The only thing throwing me off is the "3" after the 06. I thought factory code came after the year code. But I'm still learning this stuff.

Also here's the bottom of the bag:

And the zipper (not the sharpest, I apologize):

And finally the strap buckle:

If it's a Foach, I'll probably still dunk it as an experiment to see how suede stands up to a good scrubbing.

Thanks as always!! :)

Oh, and I also found a sadly beaten up bag last night while thrifting! The leather is still nice, but needs a good scrubbing and the handle needs to be sewn back on. In other words, a challenge! I'll post pics for authentication in a bit!

Here is the other bag to authenticate:

Item: Looks to be a Coach Willis Bag
Seller: local GW
Comments: In rough condition. Handle needs a repair. The leather is still thick and supple, but could use a good scrubbing. No hangtag. Measures approximately 10 x 10".

The creed and serial number. I can't tell if that's "GOC" or "G0C". Either way it seems to precede the mid-90s code standardization.

Given the nice quality of the leather, I feel like I find a diamond in the rough that just needs some pampering, but I could be wrong.

Thanks!!! :)

also please let me know if the images are too big? oops.
