We need to see the actual shape of the bag, are there any other pictures in the listing? Please see the first post in the this very long thread for the information we need.

Oh, sorry bout that. It's just one photo posted with her ad: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-women-bags-w...o/barely-worn-authentic-coach-purse/593211635
I asked for additional photos, and she only sent me the photo of the creed and the inside of the bag, i aready messaged her to send me a photo of the bag's actual shape, as well as the measurement of the bag and it's handle/strap. Again, sorry :(

Comments: The creed says it was made in turkey and I'm just checking; I'm pretty new to this.

The images on the ebay site are small so I had her send me some which can be seen here:

Thanks in advance!

It's genuine, Coach did make bags in Turkey.

Hi again, here's the additional photos of the bag for authentication the seller sent me (she didn't answer my question with regards to the measurement of the strap tho). Thanks in advance :)

Hi ya! It's been quite awhile since I've been here.
I just received a Coach Small Phoebe today that I purchased from Ebay. The auction listing looked good to me which is why I didn't think to come back here and authenticate it first.

Anyway, now that I received it, I'm having doubts as to it's authenticity. I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a looksie and let me know. I have the bag in my possession, so if you require additional photos to authenticate please let me know.

Thanks a million for your help, as always, it's much appreciated!!

Item: Coach Madison Small Phoebe in Peach Rose
Listing #: 261460043963
Seller: bombees-bazzar

Comments: While examing this bag, I thought I felt some adhesive/stickyness along the piping on the center compartment. I had read that you should never feel this as nothing is ever glued on an authentic Coach bag. Also, the letters on the bottom of the side of the bag that spell Coach don't seem to be totally aligned. The "ch" seem just a wee bit higher than the "Coa". One final thing, there is a white tag/label inside that says "Made in Vietnam". I think I read they do manufacture there, but just want to make sure because the base of the magnetic snap closure actual has USA on it, along with some other things that's kind of difficult to read even with a magnifying glass.

Before I post this on the Hall of Shame, this is a fake, isn't it?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Purse...acquard-/151304368738?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276

I am thinking that because of the messiness of the pattern.
$_57.JPG

Please don't report this. Wait for BB. Coach made a line like this.

I don't see any problems with it. It doesn't have a creed picture.

What's messy about it?

It's from the Horse And Carriage line, they were mostly Factory Store items. Probably the HAC Satchel, 14035
I agree that the listing has no red flags. Ideally, a picture of the creed should be shown but I don't see any problems with the bag in the listing.

Hello all
Would someone kindly authenticate this bag for me.
I can't seem to find even 1 up on ebay and am only getting hits from overseas
sellers on this style No K1193-70614
it is mahogany brown with brass and about 17" wide X 12" high X 5 " deep
Thanks
RC

Oooo, nice - it's a genuine Crosby Leather Business Tote

WOW Thanks Hyacinth!!
for a moment I had my doubts.
you girls are the best!!!
XOXO RC
Just a comment to add that it appears to be missing the brass metal hangtag.

I don't see any problems with the bag.

Whatever guides you're reading, please remove them from your bookmarks because they contain (at least some) inaccurate information. 99% of the online "authenticity guides" should be banned and disintegrated into cyberspace. Most have incomplete, obsolete information and outright inaccurate information.

Coach is not perfect and any guide describing Coach as "always" being perfect is wrong. Coach does use glue and sealants on parts of its bags, they do make bags in Vietnam and the creed matches other bags with the same serial number (month/year/plant).

First, I am a HUGE Coach fan and a long time tpf lurker. You guys rock! Your knowledge has allowed me to make smart purchases and avoid getting burned. Up until now, a simple search of this forum was all it took to find the answers I needed. But now, guys, I need some help.....

I was looking for a certain purse when I stumbled on this eBayer. The first thing that was irritating (but in no way "wrong" or illegal) was their reserves. I don't know an eBayer who wants to waste their time bidding on items until they figure out that secret number the seller has in mind. I just think setting a minimum makes more sense than setting a reserve which is redundant. But, I guess my complaining about this should be saved for the correct forum. Back on topic:

So, I was checking out their Coach handbags when I noticed the lack of legible creed shots. There was only one bag I was able to zoom in close enough to read the creed. And when I searched for the style number, the only links I found were to sites selling counterfeit Coach. Therefore, I was highly suspicious of this handbag.

Next i emailed the seller, expressed my interest in three of their handbags, and requested clear pics of the creeds. However, it's been three days and I've heard nothing back. So, now I'm not just suspicious of the purses. That's bad enough but I get really angry when it's obvious someone KNOWS they're ripping people off by selling fakes!!

If I can get some help proving these are fakes, I'm hoping I can then get some help reporting these auctions! Tia!!

Thank you so much BeenBurned, I really appreciate your help. Now I can enjoy my beautiful new bag!!

I knew you were going to say that about the guides lol. I was just a little paranoid. I shall trust the expertise here next time, and will try to do it before purchasing!

Thank you again so very much! :)

Thank you very much for your helpful responses, BeenBurned and Hyacinth (on your pearl white slimline telephone).

I had a feeling it was bunk after the first result in the search showed the same serial number in an attempt at authentication 5 years ago. I'm sure I can find someone to give it to who will use it.

I REALLY hope you haven't already reported those bags!

There's no evidence that either one is fake. The serial and creed on the second one are readable, and both bags are genuine styles and have no red flags that I can see. I'm not sure how you "searched" for the style number on the second one but if you used Google you're going about it all wrong. If you had searched Ebay you would have found TWENTY listings. DON'T EVER USE GOOGLE AS A HELP IN DETERMINING AUTHENTICITY, BECAUSE IT ISN'T.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw...ct=&LH_SALE_CURRENCY=0&_sop=1&_dmd=1&_ipg=100

This is what I wrote about using Google and the myth that you can use them to authenticate a Coach in the Salearea Guides, I hope you'll take time to read and Save them very soon:

"THE "IF YOU CAN'T FIND IT ON GOOGLE OR ON COACH'S WEBSITE, IT'S FAKE" RULE
This one just doesn't make sense. First of all, Google is a Search Engine, not an encyclopedia. It picks up anything fed into it, real or fake. Second, Google was only started in around 1999, if memory serves. So trying to find something on Google that may have been made and sold before Google even existed (or in some cases, before the INTERNET even existed) is an exercise in futility. Even with newer items, unless they've been posted someplace on the 'net other than Coach's website, Google won't pick them up.

"Second, Coach has only had a website for about the same time, maybe less. They no longer have any public archive of older styles or style numbers, and the ONLY things on their website are items CURRENTLY IN STOCK and available for sale. So that makes maybe a few hundred current items you may be able to find on their website, versus everything else made or sold in the last 50 years that ISN'T there. So what does searching Coach - or Google - prove? Anyone who uses either one to determine authenticity is pretty much wasting their time."

Another thing to remember is that bags made exclusively for the Factory Stores WON'T be on Coach's website and may not be on Google either, but the chances are pretty good that you might find one or more on Ebay if you know how to do an effective Search. But if you don't, that still doesn't prove they're fake

Being uncooperative and ignoring a potential buyer's requests doesn't necessarily mean the items are fakes, and it sure doesn't mean that they should be reported to Ebay!. But they definitely mean that the seller should be avoided - if they won't do something as basic as sending more photos before they have your money, the chances are pretty good that they won't be much help if you have problems after they have your cash.

Please continue to always ask here before reporting any Coach item as fake. The damage that can be done to a seller by a false report is serious.

I am a frequent poster on the ebay forum and your feeling on the use of reserves coincides with the opinion of many others who hang out there.

But as long as ebay allows reserves, the seller isn't doing anything that violates any ebay rules and buyers who don't like reserve listings always have the option of hitting the "back" button.

So, I was checking out their Coach handbags when I noticed the lack of legible creed shots. There was only one bag I was able to zoom in close enough to read the creed. I agree with everything Hyacinth said, from the authenticity of the bags to doing business with the seller.

As a seller myself, I'd like to add a bit of information and advice. This is a low feedback and fairly infrequent seller and being a good seller of designer items isn't something that comes naturally. Additionally, being a good photographer is something that takes practice. Although today's digital cameras and iphones are easy to use and can take great pictures, they still take a little practice to learn to use.

On top of learning to use a camera, there are the specifics that come with selling designer items, items that are highly faked. Most new sellers don't know what pictures are necessary in order (for the seller) to prove authenticity to a buyer and even if they do, they don't understand why it's so important that the pictures be clear, closeup and well-focused macro shots.

While many dishonest scammers purposely post poor pictures with indefinitive details, not every blurry or poorly listed item is from a scammer. In fact, the deals threads (here on TPF) are often full of poorly listed authentic items that sell for prices that are steals because of the fact that they're poorly listed.

A better approach to take with a newbie is to educate her and direct her here for advice.

I'm not as familiar with newer bags and definitely need some help with authenticating this one! Approximate year of manufacture would be great too - I think it's 1999, but I'm not sure.

Name: Court Bag (with nickel hardware I believe?)
Dimensions (in inches):
- Length = 9.5
- Height = 7.5
- Depth = almost 4
- Strap Drop = 22 at its longest
Comments: Serial number is B9C-9870 (It's kind of hard to read)

Thanks!
