Comments: I know this listing has ended AGES ago, but this is only so I can learn how to authenticate this. To me, this looks okay, but I read somewhere that the bag is called "gramercy" and style is 7007. but it wasn't made until 2000. So... this isn't authentic then? I'm confused.
Even if the style wasn't released until 2000, being made in the final few months of 1999 would be reasonable. Where did you read that it wasn't made until 2000? I've got several Gramercy styles shown as new in 1999, and at least one from 1998. The bag in the listing looks authentic.

Oops! :blushing: Sorry for the misunderstanding. When I said they were available in 2000, I didn't mean they weren't available before that. The picture of the second bag shows that I got it from the Coach website in March 2000, and it doesn't say "new" on the description, so a date of production 6 months earlier seems reasonable. I have a catalog page from 1999 that lists it as "new." I have no idea when in 1999 that catalog came out, so a year code of 1998 might be possible.

The production date is only one clue to authenticity. Often we don't know with any accuracy when a style was available. It is only when the date code is off by years or there are other problems with the bag that we will say it is fake. Or if the date code doesn't match what creeds from that time period should look like.

Just to clarify the dates - and BTW, it's much easier to keep all the posts about the same bag together in the same forum - the Gramercy line was shown as "New" in the 1999 Preview catalog which came out very early in 1999. The Gramercys were made until at least the end of 2001 since they're still in the 2001 Holiday catalog. So they can have year codes anywhere between late 1998 and the end of 2001 or maybe even a few months later.

Coach's production run of purse styles was often much longer in the 1980s and 1990s than it is now. Discontinuing a style after just three or six months would have been very unusual, unlike today.

Hi gang!! Just a quick question..... I saw a beekman briefcase serial no K13-5266. Having issues with the link, but wondering about the serial number prefix. If the K13 is a giveaway for a fake, then I'll forget about it. Thank you!!

The prefix is fine.
I'm not intending to step on Whateve's toes but the bag should still be looked at to verify authenticity even though the serial number is valid for the correct style.

Can someone authenticate these two bags and the year if you know it. Thank you so much!
