Hey all! Need this Murphy authenticated :) Sorry for the crappy flash photography ... ran out of sun today!

Item Name: Murphy bag (made in 1994, if I am not mistaken)
Dimensions (in inches): length=7, height=9.5, depth=3, strap drop=24 (at its longest)

Thanks a bunch!

P.S. Forgot to include a photo of the bottom - It's smooth, no crosscutting seam.

Can someone authenticate these two bags and the year if you know it. Thank you so much!

I'm also interested in these as well:

Are you asking if they're authentic?

If you just want advice about the prices, forum rules don't allow that. Authenticity requests need to include the information requested in post number One of this thread. That post also explains what we can and cannot comment on.

The only person who can decide if a genuine bag is worth buying is you.

The first and third are authentic, the second doesn't have a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number and we need to see that to authenticate it.

I have a comment on the seller of the second one, werecycle123. Earlier this week, the seller had listed a fake Coach keychain.

Would someone authenticate this wallet for me? I searched the thread and it looks like this style number may be valid - there is a newer style 46481 as well. Just wanted to make sure it is ok as I am not familiar with the older #. TIA!

I just have a quick question if I may, about one of the ways to spot a fake vintage purse, looking at the hardware, if underneath it shows like 4 indentations around the circle that holds it, they are fake? Sorry I do not know the right terminology. Thanks!

Hi, need help on authenticating and style name of this 2 please, thanks in advance :)

Seller: n/a (both from thrift store)

Can you post a picture of what you mean? Without knowing what hardware you're talking about, what kind of purse it's on and when it was made, it's impossible to give an answer.

In fact, there's NO "One Rule Fits All" about that kind of thing. Details on Coaches changed constantly and you can never compare the details on one style of purse with another style or plant or year. If you're using what you asked about to authenticate something, please ssk here instead and let us take a look.

If you mean the underside of the oval turnlock, then yes, having indentations where the folded-over prongs fit into instead of a smooth surface is a red flag especially when the prongs are much shorter than the indentations, but turnlock hardware may have been replaced with a non-Coach turnlock, and just on its own IMO isn't proof enough that something's fake, it just means that an expert needs to take a good look at the entire purse. But if you're thinking of buying a Coach purse and it has that kind of turnlock back, hit the Back button or put it back on the shelf if you don't have a chance to ask about it here before buying it.

Nothing that's easily replaceable, like straps, turnlocks, and especially hangtags, should ever be used as the ONLY proof that something's fake. Even more important is a clear photo of the creed stamp and serial number and the area around it.

Is the picture below what you're asking about?

Please identify and authenticate this for me,

Item:COACH PURSE*RED VINTAGE*AUTHENTIC*LEATHER
Item #:141274519361
Seller:kjv41

Measurements per seller: approx 11" long by 9" wide. The strap length with the strap being on the last notch is 16".

Thank you, thank you:smile1:

She says the strap length is 25 inches - if that's accurate then I wonder if the strap may have been cut. If you buy it be sure to ask for a good photo of the strap end.

The style is a Camera Bag, style 4012 from around 1990. Coach's catalog gives the strap length as 41 inches so that doesn't match her length measurements. That's probably the total of both pieces end to end. Subtract maybe two inches from the end and the buckle holes probably can make it another 5 inches shorter.

Thank you, Hyacinth!!!!

By the style # can I assume the bag is from the Lightweights ? (I'm not a big fan of that series.)
