While I have a LOT of issues with the seller (who has used at least half a dozen different IDs to avoid multiple Negatives AND claimed to be a victim of Hurricane Katrina when he had actually moved from LA to Arkansas MONTHS before the hurricane), the CD is something I'd be lost without. It's not perfect - the individual scans are huge and usually over 1MB each so it helps to have a basic photo management program like Irfanview. One of the catalogs is dated wrong ("1997 Legacy" is actually Fall 1993), and many of them don't show most of the Accessories pages so it can be frustrating trying to find things like wallets and smaller items.

The CD won't "make you an expert" but it will make it a lot easier to identify older items. One VERY important thing to remember and it's up to the individual buyer to decide, but selling Coach's photos and graphics is a violation of Coach's copyrights. The seller has had those listings removed before, so decide if you're ok with it. Just be absolutely sure that whoever buys it does NOT use the photos for selling purposes.

Thank you for the info!!! I think I may go for it. It would be nice to have another resource.

Well that information certainly puts it in another light. I don't like people who think they're 'above it all' and that the rules don't apply to them.

So this may be a dumb question but here goes.....it seems as if we're allowed to post links to actual auctions in order to authenticate the bags.....is this correct?
We can use the actual images from the auctions?

Thanks so much!

Yes, you may post links to the listings, seller IDs and if the seller sends additional pictures, you can attach them. It's not necessary to post pictures from the listing because we can see those.

In fact, post #1 of the thread tells the information we want and need to see:

Hyacinth, do you have this Cd? I'm just curious.. Is this what sometimes helps you authenticate? Also, I am new to the way back machine and would love to use it! But I keep types in different bags and coming up with nothing (bags that I have seen on here so I know they exist) is there a special page to go to? Any info would help! Thanks

Yay, thanks so much! I'll try to link tomorrow......just don't want anyone on here to grab it before I do, if you know what I mean.

So is this a legitimate CD or has the seller made it herself ie it's pirated material which woudl make it illegal to sell on ebay?

I'd love to see all the images but I'd be afraid I would no longer need to visit tPF!!!

Yes, I have the cd. Buying it wasn't an easy decision, but there really isn't another source of that information available, other than buying actual older catalogs. And while I'd also LOVE to find a box of them for ten bucks at someone's yard sale, chances of that happening are about the same as winning the Powerball jackpot. About half of my pre-2000 files are from the cd and half from actual physical catalogs that I've bought over the years.

The Wayback is hit-or-miss, mostly miss, and doesn't go back past 1997. Using it takes time and patience and a lot of luck, and you need to Save the links that actually work while hoping they still work next time you try them.

The seller made it himself by scanning catalogs that he owns. But because the graphics are Coach's property it's illegal to sell them without Coach's permission, which he obviously doesn't have.
